Who, What, When, Where and Woe?

"you should listen very closely, Shigeo Kageyama"

Shigeo was taken aback at the sight of "Mob" the entity made entirely of unbridled psychic energy

"you again, but why? I thought we'd finally made amends."

"....We have, but there is someone out there who wishes to use us for their own gain. And unlike that hack of a man you call master, this person has a more.... Nefarious scheme."

But who could that person have been? Toichiro? no, he was on house arrest, supposedly living a peaceful life with Sho and his wife.

hearing Shigeo's thoughts, Mob spoke

"His name is Joseph crackstone."

Joseph crackstone?

"But I-- I mean we don't know anybody by that name do we?"

Shigeo asked, trying to rack his memory, to which Mob replied

"Correct. We know no-one of that name."

Then what--

"As for what were supposed to do, Kageyama, the answer is quite simple, we find him. we destroy him."

"Hey now, we're not killing anybody. maybe there's a reason, w-we could sort something out."

The entity stayed quiet for a moment, mulling over Shigeo's words. Mob could understand the emotions swirling within Shigeo, having been tied to him since birth but--

"And just how will you reason with someone like that? this isn't going to end like with Toichiro Suzuki. From what little I do know, Joseph crackstone is but a mere human, I feel no psychic energy from him and yet we're being pulled ever closer to him, whether we want to or not."

Shigeo balled his fist, his life was just now beginning to have a semblance of normalcy. He just wanted to relax, not be dragged into another situation involving his abilities as an Esper.

"I'm sure you've noticed, haven't you Kageyama? our power has grown... unstable as of late. It started out small, books being pulled off of shelves. Various furniture levitating without our say so. what happened in the guidance counselors office, It'll only get worse the more we choose to ignore this looming nuisance."

The more Mob spoke, the more of a threat this joseph crackstone began to sound like. If his power did continue to grow and become more than he could handle, it would mean certain doom for anyone who happened to be nearby.

He'd made up his mind, to keep his friends and family safe, Shigeo would have to try and put a stop to this

"I'll do it, but I refuse to kill anybody. This is only so I-- so we can control our power though, so don't go pulling another Tsubomi situation alright?"

Shigeo stated with a firm and demanding tone. Mob wanted this to be quick and simple but of course, the good nature of his vessel overshadowed his own wants and desires.

"Very well Kageyama, but I refuse to fully hand the keys over to you. There's still one very important lesson you've yet to learn. Toichiro Suzuki taught you that there are those in which words simply won't convince. I have a feeling, that this Joseph character will show you that lethal force is sometimes the only way to a peaceful resolution."

"I'll just make sure It doesn't have to come to that. Now how'd do we even go about finding this guy?"

Mob outstretches his arm to the side. In an instant, the envelope Shigeo had received whizzed over and stopped just in front of him, floating in the air. As a result, Mob had unintentionally caused a small earthquake due to the uncontrollable fluctuation In power.

"I apologize. but I believe this only further insinuates the severity of our predicament. This though, is where we should begin our little, investigation."

Shigeo took the floating envelope and began opening it...

END OF NOTE

When Shigeo had finished the letter, he heard a loud thud from behind him. turning to the source, he spotted his guidance counselor, alongside him was the school nurse. His counselor was the first to speak

"S-Shigeo? and is that... Onigawara?"

The former salt lake middle school delinquent waved sheepishly. His record had been squeaky clean ever since joining the body improvement club, so he could let anyone think he was trying to play hooky. It was then that Shigeo spoke up

"Onigawara was just helping me get some fresh air, I was getting kind of nauseous and was too weak to walk on my own."

Shigeo explained trying to return the favor. What remained of the body improvement club had to stick together after all...

The counselor pushed up his glasses before speaking

"I see, well then Onigawara, I appreciate you looking after your fellow student but you'd best head off to wherever it is you need to be. I'll excuse whatever absences occurred from this."

Onigawara bowed in respect before turning to Shigeo with a small smile

"I don't know what's going on with you right not White T poison, but thanks. I hope you start to feel better man."

Shigeo smiled as he and the other two watched Onigawara take his leave. Once he gone, the counselor turned his attention back to the young Esper

"Are you alright Shigeo? you seem fine compared to earlier."

Shigeo nodded

"Yes sir, I'm feeling okay now, and I think I've decided on where I want to attend."

END OF FLASHBACK

"I see, so that's why you've been so distant lately. And all those weird occurrences were your doing as well. You know something Shigeo, this time it's starting to seem like things might get a bit hairy. So I was thinking, If it actually did come down to having to kill this crackstone guy then you could always let me deal with him, just lend me your energy again, and enlist the aid of...

"THE GREAT GOLDEN GOD, DIMPLE!--

"That won't be necessary."

"huh!?"

Feeling dejected, Dimple watched as Shigeo began to explain whilst he grabbed a small travel bag from his closet

"I already said multiple times that nobody has to die, not even this joseph crackstone guy. Mr. Suzuki was evil too remember? he couldn't understand the pain and emotions of others, and look how he turned out."

Shigeo turned to dimple as he continued

"I've met a bunch of amazing people In my life so far, some of them have been with me from the start, some of them I met only recently. Sure some of them started off as bad people at first but, without them and the experiences they brought, I probably wouldn't be the person I am today."

The boy explained

Upon hearing the boy's explanation, Dimple relented in his more violent approach to the situation. He started to feel bad for even having presented the Idea of--

"It was a stupid suggestion anyway, you're right Shigeo. We'll do it your way."

Shigeo smiled

But Dimple had other plans, he returned his friends smile, but in Dimple's mind...

"you're right Shigeo, you have changed a lot, but you're still a naïve kid. If this Joseph guy Is as dangerous as the Mob entity says he Is, the whole peaceful resolution route may not be In the cards."

Pulling himself out of his own thoughts, Dimple noticed Shigeo hard at work getting his cloths packed up

"Already packing?"

Shigeo looked up from his current activity to address his friend

"Pretty much yeah, I'm being drawn to this place one way or another. Might as well be prepared, oh and dimple? I'm thinking about asking someone to tag along."

Shigeo explained

"oh?"

Now this had Dimple curious, who exactly did Shigeo have In mind?

"Really now? this Is different. I thought you'd want to go at this one alone."

Dimple asked

"I wouldn't ask this If the person didn't have a way of protecting themselves but he's pretty capable and It'd be really nice to have him there."

Shigeo replied

"alright alright already, enough with the vague details. Tell me who you had In mind."

One week later

Shigeo Kageyama walked down the street on his way to the airport with Dimple floating by his side when his phone rang. stopping, he took the time to see that It was Reigen who was calling him. Figuring it might be important, Shigeo answered

"Master Reigen? what's up?

{REIGEN}

["Nothing major kid. I just wanted to say I'm really proud of you Is all. Taking the next major step In life Is always something worth being proud of. It's a sign of growth, and I know you're gonna do just fine In America."]

"Thank you Master, really. I hope you and Serizawa the best on the new Job, I heard you were coming to America as well."

["Serizawa cancelled on me, family matters and such, so it'll be just me. Nothing to worry about though, something about mythical creatures and whatnot. Oh yeah, and I've been meaning to ask, what was the name of that school you're headed to again?]

"Oh yeah, It's called Nev--

[ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR]

Before Shigeo could answer, the signal was lost

"Master?"

Back with Reigen

"Crap! I forgot to charge this stupid thing!"

{INTERCOM}

[Flight 3-0-3 leaving for, Vermont, In Three. Minutes]

"Crap!"

Reigen hurried into the station, rushing past many of the other citizens

Back with Shigeo

Dimple was currently pacing back and forth in mid-air as he and Shigeo waited for their friend. Dimple was starting to get a bit impatient and decided to voice his displeasure at having to wait.

"Damn It, what's taking him so damn long!?"

Shigeo looked up at the former "evil" spirit

"It's not that big a deal Dimple. The last flight for Vermont was booked full. ours is the next one and It doesn't leave until fifteen minutes from now. Why do I get the feeling you're more excited about this trip than I am?"

"...."

"You've been really bored haven't you Dimple?"

Dimple didn't answer, Instead he looked away In embarrassment. The sound of a bus pulling into the station then caught the two's attention. A few passengers stepped out of the bus, and for a moment, Shigeo thought his friend had totally bailed on him. but then that same person just so happened to be the last to leave the aforementioned bus.

"Yo, Kageyama! Dimple! Hope I didn't keep you two waiting for too long."

"Teru! It's good to see you."

Shigeo greeted

Teru walked up to the two while he spoke

"Yeah well I'm glad you called. It's nice to have good company when going International. Plus this trip Is all sorts of convenient for me."

Teru explained

{MOB PSYCHO NARRATOR}

[Indeed It was, Since graduation, Teruki Hanazawa had picked up a new hobby with writing. It turns out his work about an arrogant Esper growing as a person was a hit with one of his pen pals. Yet similar to Shigeo, he couldn't quite close the lid on what he wanted to do after middle school. It was on one of his days from school that he was handed a familiar envelope, inside was a letter inviting Teruki to an extraordinary school with people who possessed unique supernatural abilities.]

"Sounds like plot convenience If you ask me."

Dimple stated flatly

"Don't be like that Dimple, Honestly I'd have come regardless. I've always kind of wanted to travel internationally. And the fact that this Is a free ride? count me in."

Shigeo was happy that Teru had agreed to tag along. If something were to happen, he'd need Teruki by his side. Teruki then looked at Shigeo with a more serious expression...

"I find it odd that me and you and me received the exact same letter, but I could always chalk that up to a coincidence, but the fact that you feel drawn to this place doesn't sit right with me. I'm glad you called Kageyama, I wish It was a lot sooner, but oh well."

Shigeo grimaced, feeling a bit rude for not consulting any of his friends sooner. In retrospect, calling In the aid of Teruki was a good choice. He could count on Teruki's quick thinking and adaptability In case his powers started causing him or anyone else harm.

"I'm sorry Teruki, I just didn't want to burden you or anyone else with something so potentially dangerous, it's why I kept my distance."

Teru nodded at Shigeo's explanation

"You're fine. Although I would've thought you'd pick Ritsu to tag along instead of me. He's the only person that comes close to you when It comes to power."

Shigeo hummed

"I considered that but Ritsu Is doing really good In school right now. The last thing he needs Is to be distracted."

Teruki smiled

"Spoken like a true big brother, now shouldn't we be going? Don't wanna miss our flight now do we?"

"That's right, Come on Dimple. It's time to go."

The green blob followed after the two as they entered the station. Another inevitable adventure awaited them at Nevermore Academy. what manner of random occurrences would befall them was anyone's guess. One thing was certain though, their world was about to get a whole lot weirder...
