2.21 The Mob Character Is A False Magician

Going back to the sleeping person...

The group of young ladies continued to tinker around, their hands swiftly weaving flowers into intricate patterns. What started as a mere decoration for the deck chair had now transformed into a full-blown floral display, with petals and stems carefully placed in every nook and cranny.

Jin Wei was buried in such a floral frenzy.

The cat had long been awakened by the noise and lazily watched them play around. It swayed its tail slowly, sneezing a bit from the pollen being dispersed in the wind. The ladies giggled, unable to resist the feeling of glee after seeing such an adorable thing.

One of the girls leaned in close to Jin Wei's sister, her voice hushed. "Does your brother ever wake up? I swear, he's been asleep this whole time!"

The other girls giggled in agreement, their eyes darting over to the motionless figure. Jin Wei's sister let out a small chuckle, shaking her head. "Oh, he's always like this. My brother hates the heat. It just makes him want to sleep all day."

"He's a bit odd, isn't he?" another girl piped up. "Most people get sleepy in the winter, not the summer!"

The little sister considered this for a moment before responding, "Actually, my brother is lazy all year round. He just despises anything that requires physical exertion."

The girls exchanged amused glances, their fingers still deftly arranging the vibrant blooms. The children of the Jin Clan all nodded in agreement as they discussed the idiosyncrasies of their beloved Boss Jin. He was, indeed, the epitome of laziness.

If he could sit, he would not stand. If he could lie down, he would not sit. He had no interest in traveling unless it was absolutely necessary. But despite his aversion to exertion, if his siblings needed him, Jin Wei would not hesitate to lend a helping hand.

As they were in the midst of extolling the virtues of Jin Wei, the man in question suddenly let out a loud sneeze, causing the little maidens to jump and giggle uncontrollably. They scattered like a flock of birds, their sweet laughter ringing in the air.

The only one left behind was Jin Wei's youngest sibling, who watched as her older brother slowly sat up from his slumber, his eyes bleary and his face contorted in confusion.

"Are you okay, Brother?" she asked, looking at Jin Wei with smiling eyes.

Jin Wei rubbed his nose and groggily replied, "Something made me sneeze."

The little sister nodded sympathetically, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Maybe it's time for you to take a break from your nap, Brother," she teased. "You have been sleeping more than the cat!"

Jin Wei raised an eyebrow as he looked down at his clothes, which he discovered were adorned with a colorful array of flowers and leaves. He couldn't help but laugh at the sight, shaking his head in disbelief.

"No wonder I sneezed. You made me a make-shift flower vase." He glanced at his laughing sister. "Anyway, weren't you guys drawing flowers? Are you done?"

She smiled back at him, her eyes twinkling mischievously. "We finished drawing already," she explained. "But you were sleeping so soundly, we didn't want to wake you up."

Jin Wei chuckled, rubbing his itchy nose. "I guess I was in the middle of a good nap," he said with a shrug. "But don't think you can get away with this just because I'm lazy. You should be grateful that I even took you and your friends here in the first place."

His little sister nodded, her expression turning serious.

"We are grateful, Brother," she said earnestly. "Let's play again with the others the next time."

Jin Wei smiled at his sister, feeling a warm sense of contentment wash over him.

"Well then," he said, standing up and brushing the flower petals from his hair. "Shall we go inside and get some refreshments? I'm sure you're all thirsty after all that drawing."

His sister nodded and said, "I will call them right away!"

Jin Wei let out a soft yawn, lazily stretching his arms above his head before absentmindedly scratching his tummy. As he lounged in the warm summer sun, his gaze shifted towards his younger sister, who was calling her friends to come home. Some of the girls belonged to the prestigious Jin Clan, while the others were her classmates who had come to stay with them for the summer. All of them were currently residing in the grand mansion on the estate.

Despite being twenty-two years old, Jin Wei had long since given up on the notion of hard work. He was already a wealthy man, one of the richest in the entire world. Apart from occasionally perusing the account books, he mostly spent his days idly lounging around, content to while away the hours without a care in the world.

If he could read the minds of the people watching him, saying how he was very lazy and slept all day, he would have undoubtedly given them a cheerful thumbs-up.

After all, what was the point of working hard when he could simply work smarter? Jin Wei was already one of the wealthiest people in the world, and what else was there to achieve? He had long ago decided to become a "mob character," content to live life in easy mode and enjoy all the perks that came with it.

So why not enjoy the fruits of his labor and simply bask in the luxurious life that his wealth afforded him?

Anyway, no one is suffering under his family, so it is a win-win situation.

The sun was sinking beneath the horizon, casting a warm glow across the sky that shifted from yellow to fiery red-orange. Jin Wei stood patiently, waiting for the girls to arrive. But as he watched the stunning sunset, something caught his attention. The system, which had been dormant for over a decade after Jin Wei completed his mission, suddenly appeared before him.

The system did not leave the world, but hid in its interdimensional quarters. Like Jin Wei, the system had indulged in laziness, spending its downtime surfing the interdimensional sites or binge-watching emotional dramas. Its laziness has been on par with Jin Wei, so the moment the tasks are done, it quickly finished the formalities and went offline.

Although the system occasionally appeared, it never presented itself in front of Jin Wei. So, when it suddenly materialized before him, Jin Wei knew something was amiss. He asked the system if there were any problems in other dimensions, sensing that trouble was brewing.

The system did not reply quickly, meaning that it wasn't an alert from danger, but rather a familiar tone echoed in his mind.

「Tasks - Note: A hundred percent completion is needed for the host to gain transfer to the next world. Unable to meet the minimum completion of a hundred percent will cause complete annihilation. The system will also undergo reformatting.」

「Host completed fifty percent of this world's setting. Refreshing for additional tasks...」

Jin Wei stood frozen, his mouth agape, and his eyes wide open in disbelief. He stared at the system, as though he had witnessed a miracle, as if pigs had sprouted wings and black crows had turned white. He took a minute to process what was happening to him.

"Wait, what? Why are you assigning me tasks? I thought I was done with them!" Jin Wei exclaimed, his voice rising, attracting the attention of the girls nearby. He took a deep breath and tried to compose himself before asking the system again in a hushed tone.

The system replied accordingly.

「System reminded that the earlier tasks are just tentative. The host may or may not receive any additional tasks unless triggered by the plot.」

"Are you fcki-" Jin Wei has a good memory and could recall system prompts. He did remember System 777 saying those words. He just ignored it and thought that it was just an additional requirement for demotion. He never expected that...

As he tried to make sense of what was happening, Jin Wei realized that the system hadn't prompted him to transfer worlds, even though he had completed his task. He had been with System 777 for so long that he couldn't help but wonder if the system had simply skipped over that step, assuming that he wouldn't want to leave his current world.

Such misunderstanding ah...

He collapsed onto the deck chair with a heavy sigh, feeling utterly drained. Living a life of idleness was not the easy path to obtain ba! He thought that he will be living his life like a rich man without doing anything other than eating or sleeping!

It seems that this dream is still unachievable despite his character setting.

"Ah? So what are my tasks? What action did the protagonist do to trigger such an event, ah?"

Jin Wei knows that he could never change the world's fate despite him becoming an international figure. It is the protagonist's action that caused the shift. Since the protagonist's past did not happen accurately in accordance with the plot, then there would be new events that will be added.

It is the world that adjusts to the protagonist, not otherwise.
