Tamatoa 2
"Lalotai? By tomorrow? No way mom, I'm sorry but it won't happen." I seriously loved the ocean, and would never underestimate my moms connection with the ocean, or her wayfinding skills, except when she says it'll only take a day to get to Lalotai. It just can't happen. "Well it's not helping that you're just standing there. Now get that deer in a canoe and pack yourself some rations." I was puzzled until I realized that this meant I was taking my own canoe. "Only enough for you and... what's your deers name?" I thought about it for a minute, but I came to a name that I often love and realized was very beautiful. "Her name is Tala." Mom smiled and kissed me on the forehead. "Very good choice." I smiled and grabbed Tala by the underside of her cheek. I wondered if she would bite or hurt me, but decided that if she did then mom would have told me. To my surprise, when I walked to the shore, she followed. When I got on a canoe she waited on the sand. "Tala, come here. " I called. She tilted her head to the side, but tried anyway. She put her first hoof on and it worked until she tried for the second. The ocean spray must have made the canoe wet. I grabbed the nearest carpet from the village and laid it on the canoe so she could get on.
Soon mom joined us, coming with Hei Hei and Pua. She boarded her own canoe and we headed out and slowly made our way to the reefs edge.
Once outside the reef, we started to drift apart. Yet as we drifted farther from each other, I felt more at peace. All of my worried about my father were pushed into the back of my mind. I finally relaxed, which was a big mistake because once I got too relaxed I fell asleep.
*Dream*
"Tamatoa! Give me my father!" I yelled at the giant crab. He laughed and threw dad into his mouth. I screamed and reached my hands out in a futile attempt to stop him. Tamatoa swallowed and then laughed. I felt the sadness of losing my dad, but what was even more present in my mind was sensation in my hands. I looked, to see my mom halt in her position, and also look at my hands. I knew something was happening so I turned my head, deciding it was good if mom wasn't screaming. When I looked, I saw water, blue as blue could be with a sea green tint to it. It was streaming out of my hands and surrounding Tamatoa. He opened his mouth as the water coaxed it open. I saw a hand pop out of the open mouth.
*End Dream*
I woke up, breathing heavy and crying, but I knew one thing. My father was in terrible danger.
