*Moana POV*

Cheek. He gave me a goofy grin. "What was that for?" he asked. "Oh nothing." I replied. "Oh jeez. I've got to get back to Motonui with you. How long have we been here?" I asked him. "About thirty minutes." I was puzzled. "Really? Oh, well we have time then. Come on we'll head back so you can pay your respects."I said motioning towards my boat. He nodded his head and climbed aboard. I handed him the paddle and indicated that I was going to sleep. He nodded his head and stuck the paddle in the water. I was drifting off to sleep when he let the sails loose.

"Moana...wake up little princess." I heard Maui calling. I opened my eyes and sat up. "Maui, are we almost ther-" I started to ask but was cut off by my mom running into the water to meet me. "Mom!" I yelled and jumped into the water. "Moana! You're back so soon." I embraced her in a hug once we both got to dry land. I looked at my mother. There was a certain worried look in her eyes."What's wrong, I can tell when you're worried." She faced me and looked me in the eyes. "The counsel was talking about how you're about to be eighteen....and how you're about to be a woman and...they brought up the ancient law stating that...you have to marry before you turn eighteen." she said looking at our hands, which were still holding each other. I dropped my hands, my heart thumping in my stomach. No.

No. No! This can't be happening. I was willing to stay on the island. I changed and saved this island. I won't get married. I want.... But he doesn't feel the same and I won't let some innocent man marry into a loveless marriage. I won't hurt someone like that.

I backed away, turning to leave, when I hit a wall of skin. Maui hugged me while I told him to let me go. He pulled away and put his hands on my shoulders. "Listen Curly. Before you go and marry the man of your dreams, I've wanted to tell you something for a while now. I'd like to talk to you alone in your hut after dinner. I'm going to go visit your father and pay him my respects. Meet me. Don't forget and don't make me hunt you down." He said letting me go. I ran immediately to the water again. I sat and took my anger out at the shore, throwing rocks and shells that the ocean brought me. "Why do you take your anger out on the island?" a voice asked from behind me. It was Her voice. "Grandma? What are you doing here?" I asked turning to face her. She looked sad and in deep regret. "My child, I know you don't want this. Arranged marriage isn't our way anymore, but now you've brought back our old ways. Now women have to be married before nineteen." She lifted me from my sitting position. "You, however, have found true love. I never got true love. Embrace it and don't be scared." She said looking sad. "Your grandpa was my best friend when I was young. He didn't want me married to someone who would take advantage of me. You have a protective man who wants you. Accept him." she said pointing in the direction Maui had gone. My heart swelled with joy. I trust Grandma Tala, and she thinks he likes me back. But then my heart dropped, he had said he had been thinking of another girl. When Grandma saw mum smile fade, so did her light, and soon I was all alone in the setting sun. I realised I had missed dinner, and hurried to my hut, hoping Maui hadn't got there yet. My hopes were useless, he was waiting when I went in. "Moana! Where have you been? Did you eat? You look pale. Are you okay?" he questioned. I nodded and sat down in my room on my hammock. Maui had already set himself up one about four days ago. That was how my dad figured out that Maui would be staying with me. He had seen the extra hammock in my room.

*"Moana, who is the extra hammock for?" he asked. "Oh... Umm Maui and I are going to go to look at this new island he's heard of, but my canoe is still being fixed. Maui suggested that he sleep in shapeshifted form somewhere else, but I insisted he could sleep with me. I don't have a bed but I had an extra hammock so..." he looked furious. "Absolutely not young lady! *coughs* You will not have a man you are not married to sleeping in the same room as you!"*

"Moana?" I snapped out of my flashback.   "Sorry Maui. What were you saying?" he sighed, but smiled. "I was thinking about this arranged marriage and how it just says you have to marry, you know? No children or anything, and I was thinking, why don't we get married?" my jaw dropped. My heart stopped, and he blushed. "Are you serious?" he nodded his head. "Really. Now after three days of me all alone to think about how my dad died and you're nowhere to be found and I have to be married before nineteen and it has to be a total stranger but before I knew this my one crush ever tells me that there is some one else and he completely confuses me an-" I was cutoff by Maui's lips on mine. I melted into him, but he pulled back all too quickly. "You talk too much."
