Chapter 14: Tentacle Trauma

"All right! Now everyone's filled up," Moana announced as she stood up energetically. "Let's capture two more creatures that are left in this island and go to the other island to capture some more to save the world!"

"That meat must've gotten her energetic," Maui whispered to Pua. Pua snickered.

"Now that's taken care of," Moana announced. "I'll get Heihei so that we can all go together! I don't want to lose anyone else again after all!" She walked inside the cottage with deliberation to get Heihei. After she got out of the cottage with Heihei, she placed him next to Pua and announced, "All right, Maui. Let's go capture those forbidden creatures!"

"Yes, chief of Motunui," he replied with somewhat big excitement. Moana became too energetic for Maui to catch up to her energy level.

Moana examined around the area as she advanced forward with a spear in her hands. Pua followed behind her, Heihei following Pua, and Maui following Heihei. "Hmm, where can they be?" Moana asked herself under her breath as she looked around. She looked at the charms once again. Two more creatures. Both have tentacles. One looks natural. The other looks deformed.

She looked around again. "Hey Maui," she called. "What do you think what happened to people in this island? Do you think they've all been attacked or captured by the forbidden creatures?"

"I'm honestly not sure," Maui replied as he looked inside the woods and out to the ocean.

"I hope nothing happened to anyone in this island," Moana nervously looked around and thought to herself And I hope that nothing just wraps around my body and-... something wrapped around her waist. -there we go again. It pulled her away from Pua, Heihei, and Maui.

"Moana!" Maui called and ran towards Moana as she was being dragged by the tentacle.

Moana tried to stab the tentacle with her spear but it didn't seem to hurt the creature. She tried to get out of it, but the grip of the tentacle was even more firm than the unknown creature earlier this morning. She thought for a second and tried to cut the tentacle off with her spear. "Come on!" She grunted as she tried to slice the tentacle, but the spear couldn't make even a single scratch on the tentacle.

"CHEEEEE-HOOOOOO!" Maui did it for her with his fishhook.

"Thanks, Maui," she said.

"You're welcome," Maui smirked. Then the tentacle that Maui just attacked slapped him on the head, causing his head to be sucked into the suction cup. Moana quickly took out both of the charm and placed in on the tentacle, and waited for it to be sucked in.

"Wh-what?" Moana was confused. Neither of them worked. "What is wrong with the charms?" The tentacle rapidly withdrew with Maui still stuck on its suction cup. "Maui!" She exclaimed.

"I'll be fine, Moana!" Maui called. He managed to stay calm even though he left his fishhook behind. He tried to jerk himself off of the suction cup. "Darn it it's too strong!" He grunted as he tried to push his head off of the tentacle. As he grunted and pushed even harder, he finally fell off the tentacle, with a suction cup still stuck on his head.

"Maui!" Moana finally caught up to him. "Are you o- whoaahah!" She saw Maui's head covered with pink hat that covered up to his forehead.

"Can you... help me get this off?" Maui asked. Moana used her spear to carefully slice the suction cup. Steadily and carefully, she cut the suction cup out of Maui's head. "That was close. Ooh, my head."

"Let's go chase that thing," Moana said. "There's something wrong. I'm pretty sure that thing is a forbidden creature, but when I put both of the charms on it, it didn't work. And he still has the charm and we need to retrieve them."

"All right," he agreed.

"Wait, where are Pua and Heihei?" Moana asked. At the time in question, she heard Pua squeal and Heihei cluck. "Oh good. Speak of the devil."

"Hop in, Moana," Maui said as he transformed into a hawk.

Moana held Pua and Heihei and hopped on Maui's back. "Hang on tight, guys."

Maui soared across the woods to find the creature who attacked them. Maui stopped in front of the creature, only to see its tentacles detached from its main body.

"Oh, so that's why the charm didn't work," Moana said. "All right, let's find a tentacle to try again." Maui glided around the creature, trying hard to dodge its attack. "RIght there!" She pointed at one tentacle with the charms attached to it. Maui flew to that tentacle so that Moana can grab it. As soon as she retrieved it, the tentacle smacked her on the face, causing her to fall off from Maui. Maui turned to get her but then he also got smacked in the face by the tentacle. Moana stood up, gathered her thought together, and made sure that she had charms in her hands. The creature got distracted by Maui, who kept poking its head as the tentacles trying to hit him. Moana rapidly ran to the main body of the creature and slapped it so that the charm would be attach to it. She watched the creature freeze, turn into a red light, and the light sucked into the charm, along the tentacles that also turned into a glob of light. Then tentacle turned green and landed on the ground gently. She picked it up and looked at it for a moment. It's so unfair... it's so unfair... why me... why do I have to feel this pain? What have I done so wrong? I just wanted to... help... please...

"What is this voice?" Moana asked herself under her breath.

"You okay there, kid?" Maui asked.

"Oh, yes, I'm fine," Moana replied. "Let's just... go find the last one..." She gestured Pua and Heihei to come along.

What is wrong with her all of a sudden? Maui thought. He thought there was nothing bothering her after breakfast, but all her energy in the beginning... it just vanished.

Moana, Pua, Heihei, and Maui looked around to find the last creature on this island. "You know, Maui," Moana stopped and started.

"Yeah, I realized. What's wrong?"

"I... uh... heard some sort of voice when I captured Hewau'i and the tentacle creature we caught earlier," she explained. "I don't know why but it seemed like the creature wanted to rant about stuff. It feels like their soul was trying to tell me their grievances that somehow transferred over to my mind."

"Well..." Maui said. "I don't know what to say... but let's keep going. We'll get to know the answer later in this journey. We'll ask Kapu'uila after we capture all the beasts if you continue to feel this feeling during the journey."

"Thank you for making me feel better," Moana said. "You know, you're saying more kind things to me these days."

Maui looked and walked away, with his cheek starting to blush. Mini Maui elbowed Maui's chest as he lifted his eyebrows. Maui silently flicked him to his back. Moana silently giggled as she watched Mini Maui being flicked to his back. "Come on, we need to find the last one so that we can go capture some more."

Moana started to focus. "Pua, Heihei, come along." Pua and Heihei started to walk after her. "Do you think the random tentacle would wrap any one of us and drag us again?"

"I really hope not," Maui replied as he chuckled nervously.

"Pua, Heihei, you're coming along right?" Moana asked without turning. She heard no response. "Right?" She asked again. Still no response. She rapidly turned back. Her eyes were large enough to cover almost her upper half of the face. The only thing she was able to see was Pua and Heihei's paws track. "Oh, Pua! Heihei!" She ran quickly along their paws track. "PUA! HEIHEI!" She screamed their name as she ran.

"Not again!" Maui exclaimed. Moana dashed back to find Pua and Heihei. "Moana! Wait! You're too fast at running!"

Moana sprinted as if her feet were on fire. She lost them once, she's never going to lose them again. Something suddenly made her trip and fall. "Ow..." she winced in pain. She looked at her knee, which was slightly bleeding. What did I trip over? She looked behind. Oh great, another tentacle. Where's my spear? She looked around and located her spear, which was broken in half. Oh great. Another tentacle. She grabbed each piece with each of her hands. The tentacle was also moving slowly in pain. It also must've gotten hurt when I tripped over it or stepped on it. Moana thought quickly and stabbed the tentacle. She heard a loud squeak in a distance. She smirked and ran towards the direction where the squeak came from. Don't worry, Pua, Heihei, I'm coming.

She saw a pink creature with tentacles surrounding it. Surely, there were Pua and Heihei, wrapped around by several tentacles, having only their eyes visible. The creature used its one last tentacle to whip Moana in a face and taunted her as it stuck its tongue out. Moana had it. She lost her friends twice, she had to deal with a bunch of creatures and guilt that she doesn't know the reason why she felt it, she recently fell down and scraped her knee, and now she got whipped by another creature. She screamed as her anger reached from her feet to her head, "You asked for it!" She ran towards its head and started to beat it with a stick brutally. "You! Bad! BAD! BAAAD! How! Dare! You! Try! To! Hurt! Us!" She screamed each time she whacked the monster. Pua shivered in fear. He never saw Moana behave that way. Neither did Maui, who just arrived. His eyes were opened bigger than before. He decided to leave Moana alone until she finally decided that she beat the creature enough and capture him with the charm.

"Huh?" Moana said to herself.

"Is something wrong?" Maui asked. "Are you hearing another voice of despair like you had when you captured Hewau'i and that another creature with tentacles?"

"No, not this time," Moana said. "It's weird."

"Maybe you were just so angry at that thing for whipping you in a face," Maui said.

Moana blushed. "Did... did you... see that?"

"Yes I did," Maui replied. "I saw it clearly, and I learned that I shouldn't mess with you when you're angry. I don't want to end up like that thing." He peeked over at the charm, and then Moana, then back at the charms, and chuckled nervously. He could clearly remember how violently she beat that monster.

"Now, I think we got every creature in this island," Moana said, trying to distract Maui from the atrocious scenery of her wrath that he witnessed. I think he's seen enough already for today, or for the rest of the week. Or for the rest of the month. Maybe for the rest of the year. This is the very last time I'm showing him that kind of action and emotion ever again! Moana thought as she was still embarrassed by what she showed to Maui. She out a deep, silent breath and called, "Let's go to the other island. Pua! Heihei! Come along. We're escaping now!" She marched to the beach where they parked their boats. Maui smiled and followed her.

At the boat, Moana took out a map to look at which island is closest to Uhanai. "Looks like Waomoku is our nearest island."

"Which way?" Maui asked.

"Northeast," Moana replied.

"Well, then," Maui tightened the sail. "Off we go!"

"Next stop, Waomoku!" Moana said as Maui sailed out their way out of that island.

After sailing for quite some time, Moana looked around and admired the fresh sky and blinding sunlight. Just then, she hears Pua squealing in fear. Moana looked towards the direction. "Pua, what's wrong?" Moana asked. Then she saw a tentacle climbing up their boat. She screamed and climbed up the pole.

"What is it?" Maui asked as he looked at where Moana and Pua were supposed to be. He screamed and flinched as he saw a tentacle on the deck of the boat. They stayed frozen for a moment, gathered their thoughts together, and bravely walked towards the tentacle. It was just a squid. Regular, safe, and peaceful squid. Moana and Maui looked at each other, the squid, then each other, and laughed.

"I guess we're traumatized by tentacles," Moana snickered.

"Are there any more charms with the tentacles?" Maui asked.

Moana looked through the pile of paper charms. "Hmm... nope. None anymore." They both sighed with relief. Then they both laughed, amazed at how they sighed at the exact same time.

A/N: I'm so sorry for the longer wait than usual... forgive me, it was my midterms week! Story of college life... I'm already struggling in World History and US History... only if I passed the AP exams... I really wished I passed history exams and not science exams... I would seriously not mind taking Bio 101 and Chem or Physics 101. Uggh... I hate history... Anyways, hope you enjoyed this chapter!
