You Gave Up... (Part 3)

One Shot #8 (Cont.) 

Moana's POV

Time Skip... A Year Later...

   Maui and I have been together again for a year now and it's been absolutely perfect. We've barely had any fights, no secrets have been kept from on another, and Maui and I have made sure to directly tell one another when one of us to leave for a bit. Though to this day, part of me feels terrible about him giving up his immortality for me. He was Maui, demigod of the wind and sea, but over time, he's going to age like I am and lose his abilities eventually. That breaks my heart. That's why I went to talk to Te Fiti and asked her to restore his immortality. Not only did she restore it, but she also gave me immortality as well. I don't have demigoddess powers, but I'm able to live forever. I just got back last night so I haven't had the chance to tell Maui yet. I plan on doing so right now. 

  "Hey Maui, do you have a minute?" He looks up while picking some coconuts. "For you Moana, I have all the time in the world. What's going on?" I lead him over to a log and we both sit down. "There's something I have to tell you. I promise it's good news." He wipes away some sweat on his forehead. "Well that's a relief. Please tell me love." I smile. "I went to Te Fiti and explained everything that's happened between and to us this past year. We had a nice heart to heart, in which she did something amazing for both of us. She restored your immortality so now you'll be back in your prime." His jaw drops. "Are you serious Moana?" I nod. He smiles back at me. "That really is amazing! Thank you Moana!" 

     All of the sudden Maui begins to frown. "What about you though? I don't want to live forever unless you're by my side." I turn his frown into a smile with my hands. "Well you're in luck because I just so happen to be immortal now. I'm not a demigoddess, but I am immortal." The forced smile shifts into a real one. "That's wonderful. Though, I can't believe you went all the way to Te Fiti for my sake. I've never had anyone care about me like you do. It feels strange, but really nice." I put a hand to his cheek. "Maui I'm so madly in love with you. I have been for so long that my heart is tethered to you. You're my heart and soul." Maui cups my face. "Listen Moana, I was going to wait a few more months to do this, but I can't." I look at him in confusion as he gets on the ground, but once he gets on one knee with a ring, I realize that he's proposing and my heart begins to speed up. 

     "I'm sorry I didn't have enough time to plan anything extravagant for a proposal, but I just know I need to do this now. Moana, these past three years of my life have been the best of my life, but only because you've been a part of it. You wormed your way inside of my heart and I haven't been the same since. I'm just enchanted by you, by everything you actually. Your smile, your personality, your big heart, your goofiness, and so much more. You make me happier than I ever thought I could be. I'd like to try to make you feel the same way. With all of that being said, will you marry me Moana?" Tears escape from the corners of my eyes, though I don't wipe them away. I throw my arms around Maui and nod into his shoulder.  I feel some tears on my shoulder, but once I look up at Maui, I realize that they're his. Both of us just stay in one another's arms, letting the moment last for as long as possible.
