One Shot #35 (Cont.)

Eric's POV 

A week later...

  We're pulling into Te Fiti as we speak. Everyone's nerves, especially Maui's, are at an all time high. I can imagine how much of a nervous wreck he is seeing as he's the one that is going to do all of the asking for fulfilling our wishes and needs. As he's done for me so many times, I put a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Everything will be okay Maui. Even if things don't go our way, you tried your best and asked out of the kindness of your heart. Before you do ask, I want to make sure that this is something you're comfortable doing." He nods. "I'm okay Eric. Really." I nod back and let him lead the way. The girls of course have to stay on the boat again because of their mermaid tails. 

 Maui's POV

 My heart is racing a mile a minute. The happiness of three amazing people is being carried on my shoulders. If Te Fiti still has somewhat of a grudge against me, I know for a fact she'll instantly regret the requests. I take a deep breath, shake off my nerves to the best of my ability, and stand before Te Fiti. It takes a minute to notice me, but when she does, she rises quickly. She gives me a quizzical look as she picks Eric and I up in the palm of her hand. (In this one shot, Te Fiti speaks) "Hello Maui, Maui's friend, what are doing here?" "Hey Te Fiti. We're here to ask you if you'd be willing to grant a couple of requests. I know I'm not your favorite person in the world, but you forgave me and I think that after restoring your heart, you owe me." 

  Te Fiti sighs but nods. "What do you wish for Maui?" "I wish for two things Te Fiti. One, I'd like my best friend Eric to immortal like me. He doesn't have to be a demigod or anything like that, but I want him to live until the end of eternity. He's truly the best person I've ever met in my life. He's the only guy in my three thousand years alive that I've considered my best friend. He's never done me wrong or hurt me in any way. He deserves this." Te Fiti looks at Eric with respect. Eric does the same to her. "The first request has been approved. What's your second one?" she asks. "My second one is that Ariel and Moana, the two mermaids you probably saw hanging by our boat, get the ability to walk, run, etc. In other words, provide a method for them to do so." 

   Te Fiti places two lockets into my hands. "Give these to the girls. Whenever they wear them, they'll instantly have legs allowing them to roam the shore as they please." I bow respectfully. "Thank you Te Fiti. This means the world to us." Te Fiti cracks a smile. "Now run along Maui, in case I change my mind." She ruffles with Eric's hair. "You're a quiet one, but I can tell you're a good guy Eric. It was nice to meet you." Eric stutters nervously. "I-I-It was nice meeting you too Te Fiti. Actually, it was an honor."

      With that, Te Fiti returns to her slumber and we make our way back to the boat. Ariel and Moana sit up straight when we return. Ariel is the first one to speak. "So Maui, Eric, how'd it go?" I grin and hand both of them a locket. They both give me a blank stare. "Those lockets will give you the legs you girls desired. Every time you wear them, you'll be able to run, walk, hop, skip, etc to your heart's content." Ariel throws herself into Eric's arms while Moana throws herself in mine. I swear in that moment, Eric and I's hearts fluttered in a way they never have before. We need to tell them how we feel soon or else our feelings will eat us alive.
