One Shot #35 (Cont.)

Moana's POV

The next day...

  Ariel and I are about halfway to this kingdom she's been wanting to go to when I freeze in my tracks. "Ariel, there are two men coming our way. One of them looks really scary." As I squint more, I make out that it's the trickster demigod Maui with some mortal guy. A lump forms in my throat. "Ariel, what do we do?" Ariel doesn't even look nervous whatsoever. It's almost like she's used to this sort of thing. "Let's go talk to them." I take a nervous gulp but follow her. Before I know it, we're right next to their boat. Both of them jump back in shock. 

 Maui's POV

  Eric and I were just going about our business when suddenly these two mermaids appear out of nowhere. Both are good looking, but the one who appears to be of my descent takes my breath away. She's absolutely beautiful. Eric seems to be entranced with the redheaded mermaid. "Who are you?" The redhead asks us. Eric and I both snap out of our trances. "I'm Maui, demigod of the wind and sea." I gesture to Eric. "And this guy is the famous Prince Eric. Who are you girls?" The redhead rolls her eyes. "I'm Ariel and this is my little sister Moana." Moana, what a stunning name for a stunning girl. I hope she can't read my mind. If so, I'm screwed. 

   Moana swats Ariel on the arm. "I'm only two years younger than you. Don't make it sound like I'm a baby." I chuckle at that. It reminds me of Eric and I's friendship. We bicker playfully all of the time. He's like a little brother to me. It saddens me that he's not immortal like I am. It's going to hurt like hell when he passes away someday. Eric finally gets enough courage to speak up. "Would you girls like to sail with us for a bit?" Moana and Ariel look at each other before nodding, crawling their way onto our boat. Moana sighs. "I wish I had legs. It would make things so much easier." I frown at that. I can imagine how badly these girls want to see the world, just like Eric. "Listen, there's an island I have to pull up in two days time, but after I'm done pulling it up, I'll take you both to a friend who can give you the ability to walk, run, hop, etc. That is if you want to." 

   Moana and Ariel both squeal. Moana then flings herself into my arms. I stumble back a bit and she lands on my chest. I gaze into her eyes and blush like crazy as does she. "M-my bad Maui." I cough and nod. "It's okay Moana." We awkwardly pull a part and sit beside each other in silence while Eric and Ariel dive into a conversation themselves. I'm just glad that everyone's getting along so well.
