I Vow To You (Part 4)

I Vow To You (Part 4)

One Shot #32 (Cont.)

Maui's POV

Five days later...

Moana's doctor performed brain surgery on her yesterday. Although he was able to minimize the swelling, her memory still hasn't come back. The harsh reality is that it could take months, possibly years for it her to remember. Heck there's even a slight chance it'll never come back. I don't like to think like that though. Every time I do, I depress myself beyond belief. I need to be strong for Moana. I also don't want to place any additional stress onto her. She's already stressed enough as it is.

"Moana, how are you feeling?" She gives me a small smile. "My head hurts really badly. I've been trying to rest for hours, but have been failing to fall asleep." I frown. "Do you want me to get a nurse?" She nods and I run out into the hall to grab the nearest one. The nurse looks at me strangely. "My wife needs some medication for her head. Can you get it for her?" She looks at me as though she's doing me a favor by getting Moana some meds. "What's your problem lady? Your job is treat sick and injured people. Why are acting like you're doing my wife a favor by getting her the medication she needs? She's in pain. If you didn't want to be a nurse, you should have gone to medical school." The bitch then snaps and gives me an earful as she gives Moana the meds before storming out of the room.

Moana looks at me weirdly. "Is everything... okay?" I smirk at her. "It's fine. Some bitchy nurse just refused to get off her ass and do her job. She got pissed because I put her in her place. It's all good though." She nods and studies my face. "What is Moana?" She gives me a small smile. "I don't remember anything yet, but I have a feeling I will soon. I had a dream last night with you in it. I can't remember the details unfortunately, but it helped me realize one thing. You are indeed an important part of my life Maui." I kiss her forehead tenderly. "I love you Moana. I don't expect you to feel it back, let alone say it, but I need you to know that. I'm not going to pressure you into doing anything you're not comfortable doing again yet. You'll remember at your own pace. I promise to you, on my life, that I'm not going to give up on you. Ever. Okay?" Moana smiles and nods, beginning to drift off to sleep finally. I chuckle to myself and stay by her bedside as she sleeps. For the first time since the accident, she truly looks at peace. Also for the first time since the accident, I have some hope that my baby will come back to me.
