One Shot #25 (Cont.)

Maui's POV

Time Skip... Four days later...

  I open my eyes slowly due to being sensitive to bright light. After a few minutes, I manage to open them completely. Sina is sitting at my bed side. I look right into her eyes and she lights up. "Maui! You're awake!" I chuckle. "I appreciate the excitement, but my head is killing me. You're going to have to whisper to me for a little while." She blushes in embarrassment. "Sorry Maui. How are you feeling?" I clutch my chest when a burst of pain suddenly strikes. "I could be better. I mean after all, this isn't my finest hour." Sina looks at me in concern. "What happened Maui?" I want to tell her, but she's going to be crushed when I do. I know this conversation has to happen. I take a deep breath. "You're going to want to sit for this Sina." Sina sits and I begin telling her the truth about what happened. 

  "A few days ago, Moana and I went down to the shore to have our first real date. It was a week overdue, but both of us happened to be really busy the week before so we took a raincheck. We had this simple picnic on the shore and everything was fine, but as soon as Moana took the first bite of her sandwich, a mysterious force came out of the ocean. It blasted Moana and... turned her into a demon. As a demon, she blasted some strong fireballs that burned through my skin and pierced my heart. Hence, that's why I have third degree burns and a world of pain." Sina goes as white as a sheet. "Moana's a demon?" I nod, looking at her sadly. Sina then cries into my shoulder. "My daughter can't be a monster. Why would the ocean do such a thing to her?" I begin to choke up. "I don't know. I just want my babygirl back."

   "Please tell me there's a way to fix this Maui." I break down at her statement. "I--I don't know. I think it's the hands of the ocean to reverse this." "Maybe I should go see her. Maybe I can get through to her." Sina gets up and I put an arm out to stop her. "If you go do that right now, you'll end up exactly as I am now. Moana's gone, at least for now. I don't want to see you get hurt. When the doctor clears me and lets me get out of here, I'll try again." She gasps. "Maui, what if you die?" I put a hand to her cheek. "It's just a risk that I'm going to have to take." Sina clasps her hands over mine. "When you do, please be careful. Tui and I don't want to lose you. Neither would Moana." "I'll try my best Sina. Though, I will do whatever it takes to get our Moana back." She nods and we sit like that for awhile until I get tired and drift back to sleep.
