Harvard Soccer (Part 8)
Harvard Soccer (Part 8)
One Shot #36 (Cont.)
Maui's POV
The next day... at practice...
College starts for the girls in just three days time so I can imagine how overwhelmed they are right now, especially Moana. Everything is so new to her and with all that's going on, I don't want her to drown underwater. In fact, I'm going to make sure she has all the resources she needs to make the transition for high school graduate to college freshman. When I transitioned, I didn't have anyone to really help me and I want to prevent her from being in the situation too.
I'm watching all of the girls run their basic drills. All of them seem to be successful... except for Moana. She's ghastly pale, looks like she's going to hurl, and has stress written all over her face. I need a moment alone to talk to her. I blow my whistle rather loudly, which cause Moana to wince and a frown to form on my face. "Girls, you're doing a good job. Moana, can I see you for a minute?" She weakly nods and makes her way over to me. Her legs are wobbly and it looks like they're going to give out at any moment. I gently help her sit down before sitting down next to her. If we were alone, I'd cradle her gently in my lap, but obviously I can't do that with the rest of the team around.
"Moana, what's going on? Are you okay?" She puts on a fake smile, like the one I often use to mask any form of pain. "I just didn't get much sleep last night and am a little stressed is all. No big deal." She goes to get up and ends up falling in my lap. The rest of the girls stare at her like they're watching a TV show. "WHAT ARE YOU GIRLS STARING AT? GET BACK TO WORK." Most of them roll their eyes while only Melody comes over to check on Moana. I appreciate that at least someone besides myself cares about Moana's well being. While a lot of these girls work hard, most of them are snotty bitches that hate to see anyone else thrive.
I motion for Melody to come over to me. "Melody, can you drive Moana home? Both of you girls have the rest of the day off from practice." Melody grabs her belongings. I bend down and whisper in Moana's ear. "Text me if you're feeling up to it later. Okay?" She nods and Melody comes back to help carry her off the field. Worry swells within me. My poor Moana. Well she isn't mine per say, but I want to be. I just hope she feels better tomorrow.
Hoped that you guys liked this part of this one shot! Also, I have quite a few chapters on my original story done and I was wondering if you guys would like to see a sample of it. Let me know in the comments. :) -Mary
