Duet Partners (Part 1) 

One Shot #29 

Moana's POV

  I auditioned for the school talent show last week as a soloist and was rejected. Though yesterday, the judges called me back and told me that I wasn't the worst soloist and that I could do well in a duo. In other words, they want to pair me with another person to sing a duet. I don't know who they want me to sing with, but I hope they're decent. I know that Maui auditioned as a joke. He never told me whether or not he made it though. I'd love to paired with him and put his vocals to the test. I was told to go right to the auditorium after school. When I get there, I'll be face to face with my partner. 

 After school...

 I walk into the auditorium to find Maui standing by the stage with a grin on his face. I love Maui so much. He's been my best friend since diapers. We do nearly everything together. Over the years though, I've developed a little crush on him. I've never told him though because I wouldn't want to ruin our friendship if he didn't feel the same. Plus, that'd be super awkward. I like to spare myself of as much awkwardness as possible. He opens his arms out to me and I gladly hug him. "Maui! I didn't know you got in." I playfully shove him. "What didn't you tell me you big goof?" Maui bursts into laughter. "I wanted it to be a surprise shorty." I pout. "I'm not that short." He puts his an arm on my head. "Well, you're short enough for me to use as an armrest so yeah you're a shorty." I sigh. "You're lucky you're my best friend. If anyone else called me that, I'd smack them right across the face." He puts a hand on my shoulder. "Oh I know. Anyways, the judges decided to let me tell you the good news, which is that I'm your duet partner."

   I jump up and down in joy. "YAY! We better get to work then!" I playfully pull Maui down the hall towards the music room.  The talent show's next week so we only have a little time to pick a song and master it. I have faith that we will.
