A Weaker Version (Part 5)

One Shot #9 (Cont.)

Moana's POV

The next day... Arriving in Te Fiti

   "Listen Moana, I'm going need to fit down on land while I fit in the air. Once you finish guiding us through these rough waves, I'll shapeshift into hawk form and begin fighting Te Ka while you place the heart into her. Get it, got it, good?" I nod and do exactly as he says. Once we're past the rough waves, Maui gives me a hug and shapeshifts into hawk form. "Hey Maui?" He looks down at me, flapping his wings like crazy. "Go save the world." He gives me a smile and flies off.  I take a shaky breath. You can do this Moana. If Maui believes in you, you should too. After all, you said the same thing to him just two days ago. You need to follow your own advice. 

    I get off the boat and start running toward Te Ka with my oar and the heart in my hand. I look up at the sky and watch Maui dodging fireballs. "Hey Te Ka, looking for this?" I hold the heart up, mocking Te Ka with it. Te Ka roars and shifts her attention to me. Maui gives me a look that screams "I don't approve of this, but yet I'm interested to see where this going to go." Te Ka takes a few menacing steps towards me. As she does, I jump up as high as I can and shove the heart into her. Te Ka slowly crumbles to ash and a much more beautiful woman, which I know is Te Fiti appears before me. Maui flies down and shifts back into his normal form with a smile on his face.  

      Te Fiti picks the both of us up in the palm of her hand. She both Maui and I with open arms. She then places a new and improved fish hook into Maui's hands while placing some sort of potion into mine. She motions for me to drink it and I do. When I'm done drinking the entire bottle, I notice tattoos forming on my body. I look at Maui, silently asking him what this means. He grins back at me. "You get the tattoos as you earn them, but only demigods and demigoddesses get them." My jaw drops. "So you're saying I'm a demigoddess now?" Te Fiti nods and I jump up and down. Te Fiti and Maui both laugh at my actions, causing me to blush. "I mean thank you. I promise I won't let you down." She nods and places Maui and I back down on the ground. 

     Maui and I say our goodbyes to Te Fiti and make our way back to the boat. Maui unties the boat and I sail us back out onto the ocean. When Te Fiti is out of view, Maui turns his full attention onto me. "Listen Moana, now that all of this is over, there's something I'd like to ask you." I smile. "You can ask me anything." He bites his lip in this really cute way. I've only just noticed it now, but I really like it. He then... blushes. "Well... I was wondering... if you'd like to... go on a date with me sometime." I can feel the heat rush to my cheeks instantly. "You want to go on a date with me? Why? I'm barely a demigoddess as far as historical standards go. You could go out with anyone you choose. Heck, you could go out with Aphrodite if you wanted to." He leans down and kisses me on the cheek. "Here's the thing though, none of them are you, and I want you. So I'll ask again, will you go out on a date with me when get back to Montonui?" I jump up and peck him on the lips. "I'd love to Maui."
