A Day At The Amusement Park

One Shot #34 

Maui's POV

 Moana and I have been best friends for five years now, but for the past two years, I've developed the biggest crush on her. We're going off to college soon, the same college thankfully, though I have yet to tell her how I actually feel. Today's going to be the day I finally get the guts to do so. I'm taking Moana to Canobie Lake Park, which is her favorite amusement park in the world. Well that and Disney World, but we can't afford to go to Disney World right now sadly so Canobie will have to do. I smile fondly at an excited Moana jumping up and down in her seat as I pull into the parking lot. Despite her being eighteen and me being nineteen, we keep coming back at least once a year.  I guess you're never too old to have fun.

 Two hours later...

  Moana and I have already ridden five fast rides in a row so it's a nice time to have a food break. I know I'm starving. Moana apparently is too because her stomach rumbles in unison with mine, causing a chuckle to ease from my mouth. "Aw is someone hungry?" Moana hits me playfully in the stomach. "Oh hush. I know you are too." I put my hands up in surrender, knowing I'm not going to win this battle. "Fine, you win. I'm hungry too. What are you craving? It's on me." Moana's cocky grin turns into a gentle smile. "Maui, you don't have to do that. You already paid for my ticket in here, which wasn't exactly cheap." I swat her worries away. "Nonsense. I enjoy treating you Mo. You're my favorite person in the world." She giggles. "Even more than your parents?" I smile sincerely. "Yes, even more than my parents. So, what are hungry for?" "I could go for a burger and cheese fries." I fantasize about that combo. It actually sounds pretty good right now. "Let's do it." 

  I lead Moana over to a food stand that has the best burgers and cheese fries in the entire amusement park. I order us our food and it's ready pretty quickly. I carry my food and Moana carries her over to a picnic table over looking the lake. The lake is beautiful. The water is so blue. Hands down one of the best lakes I've ever seen. We eat some of our food in blissful silence before taking a break from eating to talk for a few. "So Moana, how are you enjoying yourself so far?" Moana gives me a heart stopping smile. "I'm having a blast. Thank you Maui for fulfilling the yearly promise of coming here. It's one of my happy places. It's also my favorite part about summer. Well that and spending so much time with you." 

  I exhale a sharp breath I didn't know I had in me. "Moana" I saw nearly breathlessly. "Yes Maui?" "There's something I've been keeping from you for two years now, but I think it's time that I tell you." Moana raises an eyebrow. "Is everything okay Maui?" I laugh nervously. "Everything is fine. At least I hope it will be after I tell you what I'm about to tell you." Moana looks at me in concern. "Maui, whatever you have to say, you can tell me. I'm not going to flip out at you. I never have and I never will." I smile a bit to hide my nerves. "Ikindasortaactuallyreallylikeyou." "I can't understand you Maui. Slow down and say that again please." I sigh, talking slower this time. "I kinda sorta actually really like you... as more than a friend." Moana blushes and smiles back at me. "I kinda sorta actually really like you too Maui. I have since the day we met. I just never thought a guy like you would like a girl like me." I lean forward across the table and kiss her gently, not caring if anyone else sees. I'm just so happy my best friend in the entire world likes me back. 

Hoped that you guys liked this one shot! It was a reader request. I noticed I got a few on my author's note so I'm going to try to work with some of the others tomorrow. I wanted to do more than one tonight, but I've been super busy today and my brain is too exhausted to function for more than one update tonight. -Mary
