A Broken Man (Part 9)
A Broken Man (Part 9)
One Shot #27 (Cont.)
Maui's POV
That evening...
Moana and I have spent nearly the entire day talking except for when the doctor came in to check on me a couple of times. I was supposed to have physical therapy this afternoon, but I told my doctor to postpone it until tonight so I could be a listening ear for Moana. It's obvious that she's never had anyone to really talk to, which makes me sad. Even though my birth parents and foster parents were horrible, I had Adam to help guide me in the world. No needs a million people, but it's always nice to have at least one quality person in your life.
Moana comes back from the bathroom with a distant expression on her face. "I should get going. Though before I do, I was wondering if Adam would meet me at my house and help me pack. I'm scared that if I leave alone, he'll try to harm me somehow." "Can you call him on my phone? His number's on speed dial." She nods and does so, handing the phone back to me. "Hey Adam. Could you do me a favor?" "For you man, anything. What do you need?" "I was wondering that since you plan on helping Moana getting settled in my place tonight if you would also help her pack her things." "You got it Maui. Tell Moana to meet me downstairs in the lobby in twenty minutes." "Thank you Adam." "No problem Maui. Get some rest." "I will later. I have physical therapy first, but afterwards, I promise I will." "Okay. Good night." "Good night Adam." I hang up the phone and fumble to put it down on the bedside table.
Fifteen minutes later...
Moana and I say goodbye and good night to one another as she leaves to meet Adam. I'm glad Adam's accompanying her to her house and helping with the moving process. The thought of her trying to leave on her own worries me. I could imagine her father striking her across the face, pinning her on the floor near the door, and twenty other horrible scenarios. Right as I'm about fall asleep, I groan realizing I have two hours of physical therapy. This is going to be the longest two hours of my life, during which I will be worrying about Moana constantly. She's just my maid, but she's starting to get inside of my head. I don't know whether that's a good or bad thing.
Moana's POV
I manage to get home pretty quickly. I park my car in the garage as Adam pulls into the driveway. He comes over to me with a smile. "Moana, it's nice to see you again." I smile back. "It's nice to see you again too Adam. Thank you so much for this. I really appreciate it." "Anytime Moana. By the way, I can tell you're growing on Maui." "Really? I don't see how I am to be honest." Adam laughs. "Well for starters, of all the maids that he has had over the years, you're the one he's picked on the least. You're also the first one he's ever gave his cell number to and opened up to. You must be one special girl."
I smile to myself. It's nice to know that I'm doing my job well. Plus, it's a bonus that Maui likes me. Adam follows me up to my room and we begin packing. Surprisingly, my father isn't home. That works in my favor. If can pack quick enough and get out of here before he gets back, I won't have to deal with any drama and/or abuse.
Two hours later...
Adam and I have finished packing all of my belongings. I asked Adam if I needed any furniture shipped to Maui's place, but he told me that wouldn't be necessary. Apparently, Maui's place is a mansion. It has five bedrooms, three bathrooms, an indoor pool and hot tub, several plasma screen TVS, a library, private screening room, a workout room, and more. When Adam told me that an hour ago, my jaw dropped. It's still dropped. I'm going to be living in paradise. Well I hope it's paradise for me.
Hoped that you guys liked this part of this one shot! :) -Mary
