A Broken Man (Part 18)

A Broken Man (Part 18)

One Shot #27 (Cont.)

Moana's POV

Time Skip... Three Months Later... High School Graduation

As of today, I'm officially free of high school. I'll walk across the stage, get that magical piece of paper called a diploma, and put all of these horrible people behind me. I couldn't be more excited. Maui and Adam both wanted to come today. I told them they didn't have to, but they kept insisting. Plus, it would be nice to have some support so I don't feel like a total loser. My principal is lining us up, all five hundred of us that is. Due to L.A. being L.A., there's five hundred students in my senior class. In the whole school, there are two thousand students. That's quite a lot of obnoxious teenagers to cram into one school. Somehow, they managed to do it.

The principal then runs on stage and gives a lengthy speech. A few awards are given out and then the diplomas. As each student gets called and get to the end of the alphabet, my heart begins to race. Throughout the year, I tried to play it off like graduation wasn't a big deal to me but now that it's here, it's so surreal. The principal looks at a cue card and says "Moana Waialiki." I walk across the stage as confidently as I can. Right when I shake hands with the principal, a bright flash nearly blinds me. I look towards it and see it's Adam snapping pics of me. I playfully roll my eyes at him, but smile for a couple shots before making my way down the stage.

The principal rambles a bit more before the ceremony comes to end. I quickly run down the stairs and into Maui's arms. People stare at me like I'm crazy, but I'm too happy to care. I graduated high school despite all of the challenges I've had to face these past few years and I did with the most amazing guy in the world by my side. For the first time in forever, I can finally say that I'm happy.

Hoped that you guys liked this part of this one shot! :) -Mary
