Gusu was a heavenly place.

It has been two days since Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian has been roaming around Gusu. Lan Wangji showed Wei Wuxian all the lanes, the lakes, waterfalls, and the rivers. Gusu was a place surrounded by many water bodies. No wonder the climate here is so different- calm, cool, moderate. There were also pine forests, and many other forests which seemed like a green blanket over the misty place.

Gusu was not much crowded place and people seemed to have a simple yet good standards of living. The rivers and lakes fetched ample crops. The merchants also seemed to have good positions. Gusu has a flourished trade. No wonder they are one of the richest clan. But still they never showed-off anytime like the Jins. Since there are many rivers, there are many floating shops that are arranged on the boats. It was a mesmerizing sight. The first time they took a boat ride, Wei Wuxian bought something from each boat-shop just out of amazement, and obviously with Lan Wangji's money, and being owner of a prestigious amount of wealth, Lan Wangji never complained; not that he could complained though. He compiled with the other's each wish.

He bought 3 jars of Emperor Smile the first day he stepped out of cloud Recess and on second day he bought four.

"Lan Zhan, I just love Emperor smile. You cloud Recess people are really unfortunate to not have a taste of delicacy like this. I would have married Emperor Smile if it was a person you know". He babbled gulping another mouthful of alcohol.

Lan Wangji frowned.

" You are betrothed. Disloyalty is prohibited."

Wei Wuxian was amused.

"But we are not in the Cloud Recess now." Wei Wuxian chirped while wriggling his eyebrows, that spukish smile being accompanied by an impishly narrowed and naughtily glinting eyes.

Lan Wangji was speechless. And Wei Wuxian started laughing madly splitting on his sides.

" Ridiculous. "

"Ahaa my old Lan Zhan is back". He stood before Lan Wangji, blocking his way.

Lan Wangji did not stop walking and the golden eyes reached towards him, close, closer... . . They almost touched when...

Wei Wuxian turned around and jumped on the side. Lan Wangji continued to walk with a smug face.

Getting smart ass huh. Wei Wuxian thaught and chuckled.

They continued to walk and reached a posh area.

"Wow Lan Zhan... Gusu maidens are elegant and beautiful just like Gusu. I am mesmerized!! "

"Flirting is prohibited in.. " He stopped abruptly.

Wei Wuxian was amused and started laughing.

" And... We are not in the Cloud Recess. But I am betrothed. And moreover... No one is prettier than my fiance. " He said and winked at Lan Wangji.

Lan Wangji's ears were beet red. Wei Wuxian was delighted to see the very known reaction again after so long.

"Hmm" Lan Wangji hummed with a pleased expression and Wei Wuxian was again taken aback.

This fuddy duddy is getting bold day by day. I see.

" Ahh Lan Zhan.. I am so tired. Lets stay in a inn and take rest. "

"Hmm"

They booked one room in a lavish inn since there was only one room left.

" Lan Zhan. Are you okay with sleeping on same bed with me? I can kick you you know. You might also be thrown down from the bed. I won't be able to bear seeing Hanguang-jun being kicked down from bed by his notorious fiance who is so unruly in his sleep that.. "

" It would be fine. Get to the bed. "

"Are you sure? "

"Hmm"

So they lay side to side on the bed. Both were tired from the journey and within few moments drifted to their peaceful dreamlands.

In the middle of the night, a black robed man was tightly hugging a white robed man, entangling his limbs with the other; seeking comfort in sleep from the warmth of the other's body.

Next morning Wei Wuxian woke up finding the bed empty. He brushed his teeth, took a quick bath, changed clothes, tied his hair, and finally gulped a cup of alcohol.

He was about to exit the room when the door opened and Lan Wangji came inside with a plate of very very delicious looking foods and put it on the table. Wei Wuxian drooled.

"Did Lan-er- gege go to bring food for his fiance by himself~~~?? "

"Hmm"

" Lan Zhann!! You can't act so straightforward. "

Lan Wangji raised his eyebrow.... Tiny enough for only Wei Wuxian to catch it.

"Okay okay. Now aren't here any server in this inn? Why did my Lan Zhan have to bring the food? They should know how to run an inn. "

" They have. But I brought it myself. "

Wei Wuxian was so surprised and sooo happy and pleased and amazed that...

He hugged Lan Wangji throwing himself at the white robed man.

"You are the best Lan-er-gege. "

Lan Wang ji froze on the spot and just stilled.

Seeing such a reaction Wei Wuxian laughed and let go off him. They sat at the table.

While Wei Wuxian's bowls were full of spicy food, Lan Wangji's were as bland as ever.

" Wei Ying. "

"Yes Lan Zhan. "

" There has been a case of haunting vicious beasts found in the Hunan town area. "

"Ohh we should go and try to solve the case. I have started missing challenges you know. "

" I am going. "

"Yeah I know that. Shall we start our journey now only? "

"I am going alone. "

"What noooooo!!! How can I let you deal alone Lan Zhan???? "

"Wei ying.. "

" Lan Zhan.. I am fine now. That accident was a long ago. It's not like I am weak anymore. Do you not trust this poor fiance of yours?? " Wei Wuxian asserted and clutched his chest dramatically with a pout, and fake cried magnificently, rubbing away a fake tear. (His favourite activity)

"Those are dog like beasts wei ying. "

Hearing the 'dog- like- beast', Wei Wuxian froze. A shriver travelled down his spine.

Wei Wuxian " Ummm... S-so what. I c-can still.... "

He didn't continue. No matter how brave soul the yunmeng hero might be, the dreadful fights and bites from the stray dogs still haunts him. He could never overcome his cynophobia.He badly wants to assist Lan Wangji but..... Dogs.... He feels himself to be useless at that moment.

Lan Wangji sighed.

"Wei Ying does not need to feel himself useless. I understand Wei Ying's inner turmoil. "

" But.... "

"Wei Ying.... " Lan Wangji said in a coaxing tone.

"Okay okay. My brave and strong Lan Zhan is going to kick those beasts off alone. " He held his chin up and smacked his chest with fist of his right hand .

Lan Wangji, " Hmm" He seemed to be proud of himself??

"Normal beasts. Only a matter of few hours. I will return soon. "

" Okay Lan Zhan. We can have a lot of fun after you return. " He flashed a beautiful toothy smile.

Wei Wuxian chuckled and resumed to eat. Gosh such a tasty food. Lan Zhan really chose the best inn in the whole town I guess. Gusu doesn't produce spicy food. Seems like he knew about this inn from before. He thaught.

After an hour Lan Wangji prepared to leave. Wei Wuxian decided to stay in the inn till Lan Wangji returns and just sleep.

" Take care of yourself Lan Zhan. And all the best!! Well I know the great Hanguang-jun doesn't need anyone's good luck. He is so great and brave that no wishes are eligible for him. "

" No. Wei Ying cheers me up. "

"Ahaa. Is that so Lan-er-gege~~?? " Wei Wuxian asked in a singing voice, looking intently into Lan Wangji's eyes.

"Hmm."

" How so? " He asserted the question in a silvery voice.

Initially they were standing 6 feet apart from each other, but now Wei Wuxian started covering the distance slowly - still not breaking the eye contact. He started feeling really funny. He is feeling a certain urge... An intent urge to do... To do... He doesn't to do what. But whenever he sees Lan Wangji nowadays he gets butterflies in his stomach. The Jade's porcelain skin, sharp features, beautiful and warm golden eyes, the perfect handsome body.. Whenever he sees his sexy lips, he gets the urge to bite it. Whenever he sees the flawless beauty he gets the urge to just push him and... Ravish him. Mess his flawlessly handsome Lan Zhan. The protective and assuring aura, and the impassive and stoic demeanour attracted Wei Wuxian more.

He doesn't know what is happening to him and he doesn't know how he controlled himself till this long.

He suddenly noticed the some changes in the color of Lan Wangji's clothes. They were not mournfully plain white, but some baby blue cloud patterns decorated the robe. The margins of the robe were also light blue colored with white embroidery at the edges. The additional blue added to his beauty. The headpiece he is wearing on his bun is also more designed with a blue zircon set in the front side. His hair is also combed neatly with a different style. He let two thick locks fall on the sides of his face. The sash belt he is wearing also has some cloud patterened decorations on it. And most importantly, his golden eyes had an extra spark in it.

These microscopic added details made the flawless beauty more beautiful. He was so prim and proper that Wei Wuxian had the urge to mess his fiance up.

He slowly approached Lan Wangji, studying the man intently, his eyes dark. Lan Wangji seemed confused. The white-blue robed man gulped and adam's apple bobbed. The tension between them increased.

Is he feeling nervous? Am I making him nervous? Wei Wuxian's mind was slowly muddling, as if doused.

And finally when they were only centimeters apart, he stopped.

"Wei Ying? "

Wei Wuxian started approaching again and Lan Wangji started taking steps back untill his back touched the closed door and he couldn't step back further. Wei Wuxian was just 5 cms away from him, with his hand on the door, beside Lan Wangji's head. A kabedon?

" Why did you dress up so nicely when your fiance won't be with you? Won't those maidens gawk at you? My poor heart can't bear to see those maidens gawking at my fiance's beauty". He Wei Wuxian said, not playfully, but darkly, with his face on Lan Wangji's shoulder.

"I don't care. " Lan Wangji affirmed.

"But I do. " Wei Wuxian affirmed, inhaling the sandal wood scent from his fiance's neck.

Lan Wangji closed his eyes and silently exhaled. He has been holding the breath till now.

" My heart belongs to only one person. " Lan Wangji said. "No one else can take it."

Wei Wuxian felt a pang in his heart. As if a bucket of water was thrown on him. Lan zhan's heart is owned by someone?

He suddenly remembers that it is just an arrange marriage. Lan Wangji must have agreed to it out of obligation. There could be no love between them. The affections between them must be that of a friend from Lan Wangji's part and his heart is already owned by someone.

Wei Wuxian's breath stopped at the vile thought, he could not breathe. His heart is burning.

Lan Wangji felt the man attached to his body to stiffen suddenly. He raised both of his hands and was about to hug the man before him, when Wei Wuxian swiftly retracted his frame from Lan Wangji.

Lan Wangji raised his hand and was about to touch Wei Wuxian's face but Wei Wuxian retreated himself further.

"Wei ying? " Lan Wangji said with eyebrows furrowed.

"You should go Lan Zhan. It is getting late. Have a safe journey. "

Lan Wang ji didn't say anything but gave a last and a very incomprehensible look at Wei Wuxian.

" Hmm. Stay safe. " He said and left.

As soon as the door clicked open and then again closed with a click, Wei Wuxian's firm act faded away, and he sat on the bed desolately.

He understands now. The crave to always stick to Lan wangji, the way he missed the man when he was not home, the way he had certain funny urges on seeing him, the urge to protect the man always, the want to have him as a support system, the way his heart stopped on the day that water ghost grabbed his fiance's leg, the fact that he always thinks about his fiance, the urge to devour those beautiful lips, the want to be the life partner of that righteous man...... Everything....

He was madly in love with his fiance.

But Lan Wangji gave his heart to someone else. He feels embarassed and guilty to act in such a rush. He must have made Lan Wangji embarassed unnecessarily.

His heart and eyes are stinging and finally a lone tear escaped his eyes.

He let the tears fall silently.

With a load of onerous heaviness, he laid on the bed and drifted to sleep again, basking the comfort of the sandal wood scent left on the pillows.

It was dark outside when Wei Wuxian woke up. Gosh how long has he been sleeping!

Lan Wangji still didn't return yet.

He waited.

Waited....

The night passed, but Lan Wangji didn't return and the next day came, and he again spent it by sleeping, eating and drinking Emperor's smile.

The whole day, Wei Wuxian was on pin and pricks waiting for his fiance to return. That man was alone with no helping hand. Was he fine? He missed the man badly.Wei Wuxian could have easily roved around by himself but he didn't. The reason he slept for the whole day was because he was feeling extremely heavy-hearted.

But when the next two day also passed like feeble winds, he became terribly worried. How can it take such a long time? A whole three days! He had said it would take only few hours.. But 3 days have already passed.

He started worrying. Hanguang-jun is one of the strongest cultivator, not that he needs any assistance to tame some bitchy dog beast . But Wei Wuxian couldn't stop worrying.

The night sky is clouded heavily and strong winds are blowing. Seems like it is going to storm and rain heavily.

How long could he take? Is he not returning because he is angry with me? It has been three days. God why did I not go with him! He started feeling guilty.

I will go and find him. He decided and started his journey.

The night sky was enveloped with dark clouds and the air was stormy.

Shit. Weather is a bitch. He cursed in his mind.

He went to many places in Hunan town, but didn't get a single trace of his fiance.

He asked many people but no one could give a single information about his Lan Zhan.

He was very anxious and fretful now.
No one has seen traces of any extremely handsome, golden eyed white robed cultivator with a forehead ribbon in these two days.

Wei Wuxian started frantically searching for his fiance. No vendors, no hawkers, no inns could tell anything about his fiance.

And then like a thunderbolt he remembered that he has a tracker with him. It is a special tailsman which Wei Wuxian had created. He kept one with Lan Wangji and the other with himself. If any one of them activated the tailsman, other one would be alerted, and both of them would know each others location.

If Lan Zhan is in Gusu then it would glow and show the direction. But if he is not here then....

Wei Wuxian activated the tailsman and it glowed! The tailsman flew in the air and started gliding towards the east direction. Strange. East has forest area. Is it possible that Lan Zhan was grabbed by the beast and....

He shook his head and started running after the tailsman. He stumbled madly through the forest road. The sky was rumbling, the air was moving fast. It started to storm. Wei Wixian's hair and red ribbon was swaying in the cool powerful breeze, the trees were frantically swaying, the dust particles and the dry leaves were dangling in the air. The storm became stronger and stronger, the sky was rumbling loudly, but he didn't stop.

He was running madly when certainly the tailsman halted and he stopped in his track too. Raising his head, he froze.

Right before him, at distance, Lan Wangji was standing, looking at him with a terrified expression. He was panting, as if he has been running too.

Wei Wuxian was also panting from the long time run. He then looked at the golden eyes.

Is it real or just an illusion? Is he my Lan Zhan?

"Wei ying???!! " Lan Wangji called out with voice and face full of concern.

Wei Wuxian couldn't talk.

He ran with all his might using his remaining energy and threw himself at Lan Wangji.

"Wei yi... "

A pair of lips crashed on his and Lan Wangji's words remained unspoken.

Wei Wuxian was sticking like a glue to Lan Wangji's body.

Lan Wangji froze. Wei Wuxian's lips were still on his and his arms were snaked around his neck as if his life depended on it.

As their lips parted, Wei Wuxian looked at Lan Wangji, tears started brimming in his eyes.

"Lan Zhan.." He softly called out. The weary of these past two days started dripping through his voice. He jumped on Lan Wangji and hugged him tightly; Lan Wangji hugged him tighter. The rain fell heavily on Earth, drenching the two souls that were basking the warmth of each other's embrace.
