Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji grew closer to each other. Even though the former does not get punished much nowadays as much as he used to initially, but still he never misses a chance to study with his diligently scholarly fiance. Both were highly learned and erudited youngster, enjoyed spending a quality time of sharing knowledge, and experimenting new skills in freshly discovered ways.

They also sparred with swords sometimes and tested each other's skills. Sparring with Lan Wangji was one of his favourite task; the Jade was a potential and a worthy opponent, and eachsession of sparring never failed to procure a new stream of knowledge to be added to their list of skills and experience.

Two strongest young cultivators, sparring with intricate sword movements, their skills being almost at par with each other, is a sight to behold. The passionate youths displayed and showcased their respective clan techniques at their best levels.

Not only this, but Lan Wangji also helped him with draining his golden core from every trace of resentful energy. Though his core was one of the strongest, capable of controlling both yin and yang energy, the tendency to lose temper occasionally was very evident, particularly when there is a flow of excessive Yin energy across his Qidian.

Sudden outbursts of rage, or weekly perpetual ired moods, often caused him extreme mental turmoil, for a generally ebullient and warm person like him found it perturbing to pour wrath on someone just because he could not control himself.

So Lan Wangji played cleansing for him every day, and also numerous soul-soothing Gusu's specially crafted spiritual notes on his guqin which had magical effects on the former demonic cultivator.

He no longer gets assailed by the sudden anxiety attacks that had been irking him for a long time since the war. He could feel the visible betterment in both his physical and mental health. Gusu medics also applied the healing spiritual music on him sometimes. He was overwhelmed with how caring Gusu clan people were towards him.

He has also grew much closer to Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren, after the formal tea party which he had with his to be in-laws. Master Qiren had started doting on him more. He was after all the strong and intelligent Yunmeng hero, who always excelled by five steps from his fellow generation peers.

Flashback

Wei Wuxian was sitting before his Laoshi and Zewu-jun with neatly folded legs, straight back, a diligent face, and a pair of sincerely serious and servile eyes. The sight was inordinately perfect to the senior Lan's eyes, as the usually crookedly postured youth, who never could sit straight for even a minute, was so stoically and obediently sitting like an iron pillar, that the miraculous scene was almost amusing.

Lan Qiren took pride in his schooling, as he acknowledged the discipline in Wei Wuxian's gesture.

Master Qiren: We did not greet you formally as our to-be Lan member yet.

Wei Wuxian: Yes Laoshi.

Master Qiren: Call me shifu.

The sudden affectionate statement from the old man bloomed a bount of overwhelming delight in the youth, and his heart, that was sceptical towards the grumpy old man till now, finally rejoiced with felicity, as he was wrapped in a fonding jolt of affection. However, it did not take much long for a stem of a curly mischievous thought to creep into his brain like a branch.

Wei Wuxian: Okay Shifu. Since I am your soon to be nephew-in-law, won't you let this poor child of yours have some fun?

Such a pure and innocent his demure face and face were, eyes being sparky - looking at Lan Qiren with innocent anticipation.

Master Qiren : (Understanding what exactly the youth tried to imply) Cause a single trouble, and no alcohol for you even outside Cloud Recess. I will appoint Wangji to supervise you.

Wei Wuxian: what!! Nooooooo.

The very well carried act of pure-white childish innocence shed down on the floor, and the pleading doe eyes changed its appearance into the usual form of brilliancy and sparkling exuberance; but his lips were dropped down out of the 'grief' of shocking rejection.

Master Qiren: Then behave yourself.

Wei Wuxian pouted, not for long though. An ardourly fond smile stretched across his lips, as a grand new door of affection was opened wide within his heart - bringing in a very new surge of endearment meant solely for Yunshen.

Well, this closeness did not occur in a day between the master-disciple duo, but only after Wei Wuxian scored the top marks in all the ridiculous tests that Lan Qiren threw at them, and after Wei Wuxian solved an extremely complex case, and also saved Lan Wangji from drowning in an abyss of ghosts.

Wei Wuxian also behaved himself a lot after getting into close touch with Lan Wangji.

Lan Qiren was pleased with him.

So gradually the soon to be father-in-law and son-in-law duo became more acquainted with each other. Lan Qiren also helped in learning other skills that were far advanced for his age. But as his golden core was much much stronger, he could easily master all the skills. The complex tailsman and the use of spiritual power at an advanced level were very precisely taught to him by Lan Qiren.

Now coming to Zewu- jun.

This person was his really favourite one in the cloud Recess. His calm smile, calm aura, a positive vibe he always carried with him, could keep people calm even when he is dying. He is soft-spoken, gentle, and had a friendly attitude - opposite to his younger brother. He looked almost the same as Lan Wangji, but their different attitudes made their personalities vividly distinct. But both matched in their virtue of righteousness.
Lan Xichen has always treated him kindly, more importantly like a brother. Wei Wuxian could always feel the elder brotherly aura from him.

Starting from teaching sword techniques, to saving him from too many punishments, and also acting as a protective brother...this person has won Wei Wuxian's heart. He started admiring Lan Xichen as an elder brother as much as he loves Jiang Cheng as his younger brother.

He is glad to have an elder brotherly figure. No wonder Lan Wangji was so depended on his Xiong-zhang- not physically or mentally, but emotionally. He is a brother, mother and also a father for Lan Wangji. Lan Xichen has been emotionally supporting his younger brother since his very childhood. Now Wei Wuxian is also glad to have such a person in life.

Seems like his in-law is not going to be as cold as he had thought initially.

After all, it is under the strict order of Laoshi Qiren and Zewu-jun that his health is given a huge priority in Cloud Recess. But it is really too much for him. Like how can a person survive by eating only so-called healthy herbal foods for so looooong??. He always tried to grab spices whenever he got the chance, but who knew a disciple would be guarding him from now on?? Holy shit.

He knows that his body was not happy with its owner after it was gravely injured in a night hunt by some horrible dog-like looking animal. If it was any other thing then he would have captured the beast with a snap of a finger. But he was especially scared of dogs only and the result is - he was frantically treated under the expert supervision of his soon to be uncle-in-law, and brother-in-law, who never left his side for a week.

He knew that the concern was not only because he was a disciple from another clan or they are responsible to him as he is going to get married into their household, but the genuinity in their concern towards him spoke a lot. Though he remained in a daze most of the time, but he could feel two very known figures checking on him from time to time. He felt obliged.

But whether it was his illusion or not, but he could see a white cladded frame taking care of him always. The golden eyes were full of concern for him. He was sure that it was an illusion, but he was greatly comforted with the thaught than Lan Zhan is with him - though in illusional form. He wanted Lan Wangji by his side badly and drew great comfort in the ' illusional Lan Wangji' treating him, caressing his head, applying medicines, dressing him from time to time, and feeding him, and passing spiritual energy every now and then.

It must be some Gusu medic. Lan Zhan has went to finish errands five days ago and he will need six more days. He won't rush to cloud recess in the middle of his mission to take care of his fiance right when there are many experts already present in Gusu.

He was gravely injured and sick. For the first few days he remained unconscious. After some days, he gained a little consciousness, but still remained in daze most of the time. So he didn't know that a certain Lan clan member really rushed to the cloud recess after hearing about the fatal condition of his fiance, and has been taking care of his fiance from the first day, not leaving his side for a single moment.

He remained in daze most of the time, and the illusional presence of Lan Zhan gave him much comfort.

After he gained his health back, the misery of his life started - starting from eating those bland food to the restrictions posed on his life for two weeks... It was really painful for him. Lan Wangji also kept on taking ektra care of him, and was always extra cautious about his health.

And he became perfectly healthy within a week.

Cloud Recess people also seem to be more tolerant towards his mischiefs. They seemed to accept him more. Well they already knew that he is soon going to be their family member. But not only because of that, they accepted him naturally. His benevolence, strength, skill, and positivity always claimed love from others.

Lan Xichen chuckled on Wei Wuxian's statement.

Lan Xichen : Don't worry young master Wei, we won't be that painful on you.

He laughed a out a cheery music of his smooth trained voice.

Wei Wuxian : Zewu-jun, you are the most kind hearted man I have ever seen.

Wei Wuxian flashed a radiant smile full of positivity towards Lan Xichen.

Lan Xichen was blinded by the smile. He is indeed the perfect partner for Wangji. Such a positive young boy. Lan Xichen thaught.

Lan Xichen : No need to call me so formally young master Wei.

Wei Wuxian was surprised.

Wei Wuxian : Should I call you Xichen-gege then?

He giggled after saying that.

Wei Wuxian : I was kidding. I won't be that informal t.....

Lan Xichen : Final then. You are calling me 'xichen-gege'.

Wei Wuxian : okay. As you say xichen-gege.

Wei Wuxian : You should not call me so formally xichen-gege.

Lan Xichen : Ok. As you say A-Xian.

At that moment both Lan Xichen and Wei Wixian felt overwhelmed.

Lan Xichen has always liked this free spirited and talented boy. He has long ago accepted him as his young brother. Wei Wuxian did not know, but Lan Xichen has always cared about him as much as he had cared for Lan Wangji. Being called 'gege' felt so overwhelming for him - so familial, so domestic. Even his own younger brother has never calls him so informally. The informality from Wei Wuxian felt like a family.

And for Wei Wuxian, he could not feel happier for anything,than being called by the name her family uses, by a brotherly figure whom he had always admired and respected.

Lan Qiren : Sect Leader Jiang and mistress Yu Ziyuan will be arriving at Cloud Recess next after 3 weeks . We are going to discuss about the betrothal arrangements when we meet.

Wei Wuxian : father and mother are going to come!!

Lan Qiren : Yes. And Do not overreact.

He quoted the rule.

Wei Wuxian pouted.

Wei Wuxian : sorry Shifu.

He ducked his head. But he was jumping inside

Lan Xichen : It would only be a formal meeting among us and your parents.

Then they called the tea party off.

Greeting and bowing before both his seniors, Wei Wuxian left the room not before having a sweet and knowing smile with a eye contact with his new found older brother.

And this is the formal meeting after which he become attached to the Lan clan more.

" When are we going to the trip? You have promised me that you would take me to a trip around whole Gusu. But you still didn't take me."

They are now in the study room, which was specially alloted particularly for them.

Great measure by Lan Xichen to increase the Camaraderie between the two.

"There were a cases of dangerous water ghosts found in the lakes of Gusu. It took time to purify the lakes".

" Ohh. Are there any still left? Were anyone hurt? "

"Hmm. They are rooted out now. No one was hurt."

" That's great! Okay... So when are we going? "

"The day after tomorrow."

" Yeeeeeee!! You are the best Lan Zhan!! "

He said and grabbed Lan Wangji's arm and pressed his face on it, inhaling the soothing sandle wood smell.

Lan Wangji didn't show any reaction but there was a glint of spark in his eyes.

"Hmm."

Next day the Jiang clan leader an Madam Yu arrived. They had a meeting.

He was so happy to meet his parents after so long. Though it was only one and a half month.

The Jiang couple, Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen had a really sweet union, acknowledging each other as to be in-laws. They also decided the date of announcement about the betrothal.

Next day, Wei Wuxian departed with Lan Wangji for his long awaited tour. He is not sure why he was so excited. Was it because Gusu is a heavenly place.. Or was it because he was going with his Lan Zhan??
