its hot out
This was extremely out of the ordinary for you. Of course, the act of going to your favorite coffee shop and sipping while diving into your current read was normal. But, every time you were accompanied, whether that be with a parent or a friend. This time, though, you were alone.
You were doing fine, all by yourself. Currently, you were sitting under the sun, nose deep in your book, the perspiration from your iced coffee was dripping through the holes of the table onto your legs. The music from your headphones playing so loud that you didn't hear the man approach you. You felt it though, when suddenly your body got a break from the sun to rest fully in the shade.
You glance up to look at the cloud covering the sun to see that it isn't a cloud at all. It's a guy, a really cute guy. He's huge with black hair that almost has a curl to it. He's wearing a black shirt and you could see peeks of tattoos disappearing under the collar of his shirt. He's practically the epitome of "tall, dark, and handsome".
You yank your ear bud out from your ear, still staring at him. He doesn't say anything, so you do first.
"Aren't you hot, in all that black?"
The end of his lip curls in almost a half smile before he fully opens his mouth to respond.
"Aren't you hot, sitting directly under the sun, doll?"
The nickname made you flush, you'd never been called that before.
"I am, yes, but it was the only open table." You say simply, lifting your chin.
He simply chuckles, turning his body a bit to reveal another open table under the shade, inviting you. "Come sit with me."
You flush even more, knowing that there was probably nothing more to his offer than simply being generous, even if you wanted more. You grab your items but before you can get to your book he scoops it up. If he thinks anything about it, he doesn't say it. You brush past him to get to the new table, and now that you're standing directly next to him you definitely don't notice just how much larger he is than you.
Definitely not.
You feel a ghost of a hand on the small of your back before sitting down. The stranger takes the seat across from you before flipping through your book.
He smirks, flips a page, and then snorts.
"Can I have that back please" you say, moody from the sheer audacity this random guy has.
His eyes flick up to you. "Only if you'll do me a favor."
Your eyebrows knit, thoughts of gross strange things flood your mind before he laughs a little in reaction to your face.
"Nothing weird, god, I'll give your book back regardless. But, in return I want your phone number."
That's not what you were expecting. Okay maybe a little bit, but it still surprises you to hear that this greekgod in the flesh wanted your contact info.
"Snapchat, take it or leave it." you negotiate, playing it safe. You didn't know if this guy was a kidnapper or stalker.
The corners of his mouth curl up. "Even better, then I get to see your pretty face with every text."
Your flush comes back. Damn sun, it's so hot out today.
You hand him your phone in exchange for your stolen book. You sip on the rest of the contents of your iced coffee while you wait for him to add his info. When he hands your phone back you don't even get a chance to see what he put his contact name as, the time taking more of your attention.
"Ah, I gotta go, thanks for the table." You say as you pack up your items for the second time today.
"I'll talk to you later" he says, that stupid smirk back on his face again.
The second you step into your car you've already got multiple notifications from him. Glancing down at your phone you finally notice what he's named himself. "Mmmm yes coffee shop handsome guy" with a string of lewd emojis to follow. Your eyes roll. How charming
