Ch. 4: My Little Back-To-School Emotions: Happiness (Told by Twilight Sparkle)

I wake up and look over at my lavender, digital clock, which is on my nightstand on my right. It's 7:00am. I look across the room to where my twin sister, Solar Flair (I call her Flairie), is sleeping in her very sunny bed. Our beds are parallel to each other and Flairie's bed is to my right. I fall asleep again, but ten minutes later, I wake up to the sound of our room's purple telephone with sun, heart, and glittery star stickers on it (Flairie put the stickers on it). Flairie jumps from her bed and picks up the phone before I even have a chance to sit up. She looks at the Caller ID and gasps, smiling. She answers the phone while squee-bouncing.

"(To whoever's on the phone) Hi! Hold on, I'll get her," Flairie says with a huge, Pinkie Pie-worthy grin, "(To me) OMG, Twily! It's our big bro! I'm gonna put him on speaker."

I smile and swing my legs over my mattress. I stand up, and as I walk over to her, I'm as stunned as a deer in the middle of a road that's about to get hit by a car (long description, I know). Staring at Flairie was like staring in a mirror - if my reflection had red hair with one pink and one yellow streak in it. We both have long hair that is level with our ribcages, bangs, and streaks in our hair, but my hair is dark and my streaks are pink and purple instead of pink and yellow.

"Twily!," Shining Armor's voice says from the phone, "How are you, little sis?"

"Great!," I say truthfully, "How are you and Cadence?"

"We're fine, but taking care of a whole other human being isn't easy," Shining Armor says, laughing a bit.

"How is my little Golden Armor?," I ask with my "squee" face, referring to my 1-year-old nephew.

"He's great, but he's driving us up the walls," Shining Armor replies, sounding annoyed, "His wings are stronger, so he's flying around the house now. Oh, and every time the kid sneezes, his magic either blows up dinner, or it changes the color of the paint on the walls."

Flairie and I laugh. Our brother starts to laugh too.

"I can't wait to see him and Cadence again," says Flairie, smiling affectionately, "He's just sooo adorable!"

"Yeah, he is!," I say.

"Don't let the cuteness fool you," Shining Armor says with a chuckle, "When he has a cold, Cadence and I put enchantments around the house as if a tornado is gonna hit Canterlot!"

We all laugh again. I miss my big bro, and cannot wait to see him, Golden Armor, and Cadence again. Don't get me started on Cadence, the best. Babysitter. EVER! She used to babysit Flairie and I when she was our age and we were little kids.

"The next time you come over, feel free to bring your friends again. Cadence finds them to be nice and entertaining," Shining Armor says, "Especially the pink one and the colorful one."

"Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash?," I ask.

"Yeah, them," Shining Armor says, "Forgive me, I forgot their names that quick."

"Oh, it's all right," I say, "And they are pretty funny."

"Hey, Twily," Shining Armor says seriously.

"Yeah?," I ask.

"Do you think Rainbow Dash can help Cadence and I keep Golden's flying under control?," Shining Armor asks, "She's such a great flyer."

"I don't know," I say, "But I'll ask her!"

"Thanks, Twily," Shining Armor says, a crashing sound providing a soundtrack for him, "Uh, oh. Twily, Flairie, I gotta go. Golden just flew into Cadence at full speed, and they both crashed into pots in the kitchen."

"Oh my god, are they okay?," I ask with wide eyes.

"Yeah, but I'll call later," Shining Armor says, "Bye guys."

"Bye!," Flairie and I say with identical smiles.

The other line goes dead, so Flairie places the phone back on it's matching base (minus the stickers). Flairie says,

"Twily, it's August thirty-first! Can you believe it?"

"OMG, really?," I ask, "I forgot to check the date! That means our junior year of high school starts tomorrow! I'm so happy!"

"Me too!," Flairie says.

We hug each other while jumping up and down with excitement and squealing. If Rainbow Dash was here, she'd be rolling her eyes at us, saying, "You guys are such girly eggheads". Well yes, Rainbow Dash, we are, I think to myself with a smile. I can't wait for tomorrow to come.
