CHAPTER THREE: Something is on Their Minds...
At night my mind does not much care
If what it thinks is here of there.
It tells me stories it invents
And makes up things that don't make sense.
I don't know why it does this stuff.
The real world seems quite weird enough.
- Calvin and Hobbes, Bill Watterson.
Twilight knocked softly on Princess Luna's door.
The door itself was a work of art, shades of purples and blues, with glittering shards of silver set into it to look like stars.
She wondered if Luna was asleep, or if she stayed awake all night, seeing as she was the princess of it.
After a while Twilight decided that the princess was sleeping, and turned around. Just then she heard the door open behind her, and stopped.
"Twilight Sparkle?" She heard Luna speak.
Twilight turned around to see the Princess of the night standing in the doorway.
"Princess Luna!" Twilight grinned.
Luna frowned. "You smile, but I can tell something is on your mind..."
Twilight hesitated. "Er... maybe. May I come in?"
Luna nodded, and let Twilight pass her, before she shut the door. She turned back to the young Alicorn and said, "I expected you to be resting, for you seemed quite exhausted by the end of the meeting."
Twilight sat down on a chair and dipped her head. "I was. But... I had this... dream."
Luna nodded. "And?"
Twilight sighed, and retold her dream to the princess, who patiently listened to every word.
"...And I've been having this exact same dream for a entire month!" Twilight glanced into the unreadable face of the princess. "I... figured it was about time I spoke to you about it. So?... what do you think?"
Princess Luna frowned. "Do you recongize these tunnels from your dream?"
Twilight shrugged. "I... I don't know. They seem familliar. I just... can't recall, exactly."
"I-" Luna gazed out the window at her rising moon. "...Have been having dreams, as well."
Twilight blinked in surprise. "You have? Is it the same dream as mine?"
Luna shook her head. "In the dream I'm a young earth pony, and I'm walking beside a unicorn with a strange device, and then it suddenly starts to rain, and then the two of us run into a cave... and... there's another Alicorn there."
Twilight considered this. "I see... Do you think they mean anything? These dreams?"
Luna shook her head. "I cannot tell as of yet. But if I may enter your dream, we could perhaps get a better understanding of it."
Twilight nodded. "Yes. You might recognize the caves..."
Twilight got up and she and Luna walked to the door.
"I shall see you soon, Twilight Sparkle." The night princess said.
Twilight smiled. "In your dreams!..."
"No, Twilight."
"Eh. I tried."
____________________________________________________________________________________________
Twilight fell back into her slumber, still wondering if she'll even have the dream again this time.
When she opened her eyes she was running through a cave, the sound of laughter and cries still echoing through the tunnels.
Then she fell and knew the mirror was there. But when she tried to look up...
She was back in her bed, and morning light was flooding in through the windows.
Twilight heard hard knocking at her door.
"Okay! Okay... I'm getting up..." She yawned
She stumbled to the door and opened the tall golden doors to see Princess Luna standing there, and all Twilight could think, was how messy her mane must be at that moment.
But Princess Luna didn't seem to care about Twilight's mane as she said,
"Twilight Sparkle, I have seen your dream and I know those caves."
"You do?!" Twilight asked excitedly. "And?..."
Luna raised a hoof dramatically, and said,
"They are the caves under Canterlot!"
Orion: Really really sorry on the lack of updates!!
I have to catch myself when I'm in a good writing mood, because I don't want this book to be garbage... so... yeah.
