trayce thompson; chicago white sox
"Daya, you look absolutely stunning." My little sister and maid of honor, Zoey, said to me as she pinned back my hair. I smiled in the mirror as I looked at myself. Today I'm marrying the love of my life: Trayce Thompson.
We met one day in LA while he was playing for the Dodgers. I stayed with him through it all and moved to Chicago when he began playing for the White Sox. It's been a crazy journey, but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Soon enough, my dad was ready to walk me down the aisle. I smoothed over my dress one time and took a deep breath, preparing for the best day of my life.
The doors opened and I walked down the aisle, arms linked with my dad. When I reached the end of the aisle, I saw Trayce crying which made me beginning to cry.
The ceremony drug by slowly. I really just wanted him to say kiss the bride, but I also spent a long time preparing my vows and couldn't wait for everyone to hear them. Finally, he signaled that it was time for the vows.
"Oh, Trayce. I remember meeting you 3 years ago in 2015. It seems like we've been together forever but it's only been 3 years. People judged us for getting engaged after only a year and a half of dating, but I knew you were the one the second I met you. God gave me you for the ups and downs, and we've had a lot of downs, but we've also had an amazing number of ups. I'll follow you wherever you go. Trayce, I love you forever and a day. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you and be the mother to your children. I can't wait for every late night, every early morning, every first day of school, every anniversary, every baseball game of yours and our son's if we ever have one because there's no way we'll ever have a son that doesn't play baseball, and truly just every day we spend together. Every second I'm with you I'm the luckiest girl in the world. Every second I'm away from you I am as well. I love you, Trayce Thompson. And I can't wait for forever." Tears streamed down my face and there wasn't a dry eye in the crowd. I was proud of the vows I had come up with. They truly expressed how I felt about Trayce in words, if I could even do that.
"Daya, where do I begin? When I met you at Starbucks that day I knew that you were the one for me. Your smile lit up the room, even though you were having a horrible day. I promise to hold you through every bad and good time. I promise to give you the best life you could ever ask for. I love you Daya and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you." Trayce finished and I was crying even more. He grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it softly.
"Well ladies and gentlemen, I think we're ready. Trayce, you may kiss your bride." Trayce leaned in almost immediately and kissed me, and after a few seconds he dipped me causing me to laugh out loud.
"I love you, Mrs Thompson." He said kissing me softly once more. Mrs Thompson has a nice ring to it.
