ian happ; chicago cubs

I walked into Wrigley Field and sat in my seat, as close to center field as possible. I had dressed to impress, well as best as I could in my Ian Happ jersey, jean shorts and flip flops and I was all ready with my homemade sign.

It was quite clever, I thought. It's shaped like a baseball and it says "Hey #8, you're under arrest for stealing my heart." Ian Happ is my absolute favorite Cubs player. It was cheesy, but it was a good laugh. It's not like Ian is actually going to see it anyway.

I sat down and ate my hotdog, waiting for Ian to come and take his spot in center field. When I saw Ian walking towards center, I immediately held my poster over the wall. People started chanting Ian's name so he walked over to the railing and started signing stuff for kids.

My hands were shaking as I held onto my poster. If I drop this poster, I'll be mortified. Ian walked closer to my sign and finally he was standing in front of it. My knees started to wobble as I realized that Ian Happ, in all of his glory, was standing right in front of me, reading my sign of me basically confessing my love for him.

He carefully read over my sign, and just when I thought he was going to run for the hills, he smiled? He started chuckling which caused me to laugh back nervously. "Can I sign this for you? This is hilarious!" He said, still laughing and I nodded, smiling. I handed him my sharpie and he took a little while to sign the poster.

He capped the marker and handed it back to me. "What's your name?" He asked me. "Abby." I told him and he smiled. "Beautiful name for a beautiful girl." He winked and I shook my head. "Cheesy." I said. "Ya, but it made you smile your beautiful smile." He told me, causing me to blush madly.

"See!" He said, causing me to laugh. "Hey, do me a favor?" He asked me and I nodded. "Read my signature when I walk away. Enjoy the game, beautiful." He told me and walked to his spot in center field, leaving me confused.

I picked up the poster and scanned it for his signature. When I realized what it said, I couldn't it. It had his signature and underneath it was his phone number with the message "love seeing you smile, please text me sometime." My eyes widened in shock, my mouth wide open.

I looked into center field and saw Ian wink at me, causing me to blush. If he keeps this up, I'm going to need to be restrained from jumping on the field and kissing him.

But I have my self control, so I sat back down in my seat and I sipped my drink, ready to just enjoy the game.

The flirting didn't stop. Every time he came out, he would "miss" the throw from Heyward in right so he could come make longing eye contact with me, smile, and walk away. It was patronizing, but it was adorable. Finally, the game ended.

I waited for most of the people to clear out so it wouldn't be so busy getting out of the stadium. I started walking away when I heard my name being yelled. I turned around and saw Ian leaning up against the railing.

"Text me!" He yelled and then ran inside the dugout and into the clubhouse. I was left blushing and kind of upset. I was secretly hoping he would pull me over the fence and kiss me like I've wanted him to do for the entire game, but I knew that would never happen.

I started my trek out to my car when I heard my name again. I turned around and saw Ian running towards me. I smiled. Ian's tall frame was suddenly very close to me all of the sudden, he placed his hands both sides of my face and kissed me passionately.

I stumbled back but immediately kissed back, wrapping my arms around his neck. He pulled away and rested his forehead against mine. "Your damn teasing made me want you to do that the entire game." I mumbled, causing a loud laugh to erupt from Ian.

"Well you know something? We have our entire lives to make up for it."
