Part 76: You Ain't No Friend Of Mine
June's point of view
After the first punch, Anna looked at me right in the eyes, her hand placed on her right cheek which was aching at this point. She gave a me a dumbfounded look, like she coudn't believe what the hell just happened. That look pissed me off even more. It's like she didn't understand why I was punching her in the first place. Without thinking, I hit her again, and again. I couldn't control myself, and punched the bitch all over again. She begged me to stop, but I wouldn't. I was blinded by my hate towards her, and the will to fight for Michael, like my father told me. She tried to put him away from me, and I had to show her that she won't ever succeed in doing it, and make her understand that what Michael and I had was real, sincere: something she won't have. At some point, Anna fell to the ground, still begging me to stop hitting her, but I couldn't care less of her distress, and kicked her multiple times in the ribs and in the stomach. That's when Jer arrived behind me, and took me back by my waist so I could stop kicking the bitch. I wrestled with him, and asked him to let me go so I could finish what I started, but he didn't.
"Let me go!" I yelled, as I was still wrestling with Jer. "I found her, now let me do what I have to do!" he said, as he turned me around so I could see him.
"What you have to do- stop! You speak like a crazy woman!" he yelled, and shook me by the shoulders. "Who the hell are you? I don't recognize you! Who's the non-violent person I once knew?" he asked me, as I tried to get away from his grip. "Look at her!" he commanded, nodding towards Anna behind me. "Look at her! Look what you did!"
I turned around, and finally looked at her, and saw her, lying on the floor, her arms folded on her belly, asking me to forgive her. Of course, I couldn' t forgive her. Never. She tried to ruin my life, and almost succeeded... Twice. The thing is, even though I knew I couldn't forgive her, Jer had a point. I used to be a non-violent person, and I hate violence. I really hate it. And there I was, hitting a woman like an hysterical freak. I stopped wreslting with Jeremy, and instantly tears welled up in my eyes. Not because I was sorry for her, I wasn't, believe me, but because my friend was right: it wasn't like me to be violent, and I didn't recognize myself for it.
"You bitch," I murmured to Anna. "You owe me some fucking explantions."
"You think you'll get some by hitting me?" she taunted.
"Don't be a smart ass with me, or I swear you'll get another piece of me. Don't tempt me."
"Stop, June," Jer whispered behind me. "If you want explanations, hear her out."
"Talk," I commanded as Anna stood up from the ground, wincing in pain.
"Maybe we could have a cup o-"
"Never. Now talk."
"Maybe we can go back to the hotel so you guys can talk there," Jeremy suggested. "I'll be there the whole time to make sure no one gets killed," he said with a smile to lighten the mood, but didn't succeded. I was staring daggers at Anna, but she had the decency to look away. Maybe the bitch feels really sorry, after all, I thought.
"I was getting home, anyways, so why not," she nervously said, shrugging her shoulders and looking at the ground.
"You need to put something on this lips of yours. You're bleeding pretty hard," Jer pointed. I noticed, but I couldn't care less.
"Yeah, I have a first aid kit in my trunk. Thank you for caring, Jeremy," the bitch smiled at him, but Jer looked at her his eyebrow raised.
"I don't care about you, bitch. It's just the doctor in me speaking," he said, which made me smile. "Next time, you shouldn't lie to me about the fact June forgot about me and never asked a thing about me."
"I'm sorry... I was just... Jealous. I knew if I told you she wanted to see you, you'd be together all the time and I would be pushed aside," she said, her eyes still glued on the floor.
"Whatever," Jer said. "Meet us at the Knight Inn. It's like five blocks away from here. We'll call a cab and the we'll wait for you in the lobby when we get there."
"It would be easier if you ride with me in my car," she replied, wiping the blood from her bottom lip.
"I'd rather die, thank you," I said, a sarcastic smile on my lips.
She sighed, and got in her car while Jer and I got in a taxi.
**
As we were waiting for the bitch to arrive at the Knights Inn, I gave a call to doctor Warren, just to let him know by myself I had my cast removed in a different hospital. I knew that doctor Chambers told me she would call him to let him know she was the one who removed it, but she would told him that 'Aurélie Smith' came, so I needed to tell him by myself.
A few mintues after we arrived at the hotel, Anna arrived and I led the way up to my room. We all sat in a chair: Jer besides me, and Anna in front of the both of us. I noticed she got her lip fixed, but the bruise under her left eye began to show. Awww, too bad.
"Speak up, now," I told her after a few minutes a silence.
"What do you wanna know?" she asked me with an attitude. Of course, I didn't like this bitch's attitude and stood up from my chair to reach her, but Jer sat me down immediately, telling me to cool off.
"I would leave this attitude if I was you," Jer warned her, and she gulped. "Don't you had enough already?"
"What do you want to know?" she asked again in a low voice, looking at the floor. Pathetic bitch.
"You tried to ruin me and my relationship, and now you can't even look at me?" I scoffed.
"No. I can't because I feel so guilty about all of this."
"Bitch, please!" I shouted, forcing a laugh. "You can't feel guilty after trying to ruin my life and relationship twice."
"T-Twice?" she stuttered, finally looking at me. "What do you mean twice?"
"Stop acting like you don't know shit," I sternly said, flashing her a death stare. "Why did you do all of this?"
"Because I wanted Michael," she admitted.
"You wanted Michael?"
"In the first place, by I had to do I as I was tol-" she trailed off mid-sentence. "Crap," she muttered, but I heard her.
"What were you going to say?" I asked, looking at her skeptically.
"N-Nothing. I wanted Michael, but I don't want him anymore, period. He's all yours."
"He's always been all mine, you cunt," I said through clenched teeth.
"Do you have anymore question?" she asked, like she wanted to change the subject.
"Aww, darling, after what you've put me through, I have plenty of questions for you. Your betraying ass is going to be there with me for a while," I said, faking a giant smile.
"Go ahead then," she shrugged.
"Don't you try lying. I won't be always here to keep June from killing you," Jeremy warned. Damn, this guy is amazing. The bitch nodded her head yes, and looked at her fingers.
"Why did you run away like a coward after what you did to me and Michael?"
"To avoid what happened minutes ago," she shrugged. "I didn't want - and still don't - want to fight with you."
"Why?" I wondered.
"Because like I said, I felt horribly sorry for what I did. The second I did it, I knew I shouldn't have done it."
"The bitch has remorses," I said to Jer, laughing. "Isn't she cute?" I fake a laugh, and Jer did the same. "Why did you ask Matt to help you with your 'plan'?" I asked, air quoting 'plan'. Matt already told me about how Anna came to him and all, so I decided to ask her as a test: if she didn't tell me the same thing as Matt, I'd know she lied. Yes, I trusted Matt more than this bitch.
"Because I knew he liked you, so I thought he would be perfect. He didn't want to do it at first, but I offered him money. He needed money a lot, so he accepted. I regret I had to put him through this, but I was forced-" she trailed off again, and added "forget it."
"You were forced?" I snorted. "And may I ask by who?"
"I can't tell you," she whispered, looking at the floor.
"Of course you can't, you're lying." I paused for a few seconds. "Whatever. Let's talk about those photos you gladly gave the press. How does it feel to see the press calling me a call girl, huh?"
"I didn't want to do it..."
"Stop saying that!" I yelled in frustration. "Stop acting like you're so sorry and eveything. If you felt guilty and sorry for what you did the first time, you wouldn't have given the press those damn p-"
"I WAS FORCED TO DO IT, FOR GOD'S SAKE!" she yelled, cutting me off.
"STOP LYING!" I yelled back at her.
"I'm not! I can't tell you who the person is, because if I do, he'll hurt my mother!"
"He? So the mysterious person is a man," Jer stated next to me.
"Hurt your mother? Is the mysterious person your mom's new boyfriend?"
"How do you know she has someone in her life?" she asked me, squinting her eyes at me.
"I'm the one asking question, now answer the damn question."
"Yes, the man is my mom new... Whatever you wanna call him," she said, shaking her head.
"What is his problem with me and Michael?" I asked, intruiged by who that man could be.
"I can't tell you," she whispered, playing with her fingers.
"Tell me!" I yelled at her, and she looked at me in the eyes. I noticed she was about to cry, because her eyes were glassy and she had a sad expression on her face. I didn't care, I didn't feel any kind of pitty or sadness for her. I wished she had never existed.
"I can't! I can't risk my mom's sake for your resentful ass!"
"Resentful?" I laughed. "You see, darling, being resentful is one thing, but wanting to kill a person for ruinning my life is another thing... I'm not resentful. Now who's that person?"
"I can't tell you, I'm sorry. But I'm going to tell you what I can, and eveything you need to know." She paused, and took a deep breath before looking at me. "He was the one to give me the money for Matt, and he doesn't want you to be with Michael. I thought you two broke up after what happened back in New York because I heard you both arguing at the hospital, and you were telling Michael you wanted him to leave you alone. When I told him you guys broke up, he was happy, and he turned out to be good to my mother, so I thought maybe he really liked her. But then, he called Michael and he informed him that you guys were still together. With you not being on his tour with him and everything..."
"Wait... He called Michael, so Michael knows him," Jer pointed out, and I nodded. One more clue, I thought. Anna muttered something under her breath and kept going on with her story.
"When he told him this, he was furious. He called me and told me to fix this. At the beginning, I refused. I wasn't going to do it, there was no chance in hell I would do such a thing again. I wasn't interested in Michael anymore because I was - I am - dating someone, and it's pretty serious. I just wanted to start again in a new city, and forget about my past and all the things I did to you," she paused again. I could hear the sincerity in her voice, but it was hard for me to believe eveything. I mean, the fact that she couldn't tell me the name of the person behind all of this seemed pretty weird to me. "But that's when he blackmailed me. If I wouldn't do it, my mom would have to deal with another abusive man in her life. My father was this kind of asshole, and I just couldn't imagine her going through this once again, so I accepted while I didn't want to do it. I made mistakes, and now I want to make it up to you. I lost more than I won in this story. I lost my former life. I had to come here in Virginia because my mother's new boyfriend is from here, and he wanted to live with her, and she accepted because she was tired of New York. I followed because he told me it was best for me, and I listened. Of course, I made my life a living hell since that moment. I've been harassed by paparazzi for a whole week, my mother fell in love with that man who's going to break her heart sooner or later, and I lost you, my best friend, my sister. The one I met at a Michael Jackson's fans gathering in New York years ago..." she stopped and snorted through her tears. "Ironic to think that we met thanks to Michael and that now I'm going to lose you because of him."
"No. You've lost me a long time ago, and Michael isn't the reason. You're the reason. If you would have been a loyal and trustful friend, we won't be here today."
"Just know that I am truly sorry."
"You can be," I stated, rubbing my temples. "I-" I was cut off by the ringing of her phone. When she looked at the screen, I noticed she rolled her eyes. "Is that the fucker who's behind all of this?" I wondered, and she nodded. A rush of anger wash over me, and I tried the snatch the cellphone from her hands, but she dodged me. "Give it to me so I can give a piece of my mind to this fucker!"
"No, you won't. I'm gonna get going, I told you everything I could, and everything I knew," she told me, and then stood up, sighing. She pressed the "ignoring" button on her cell, and looked at me with a year rolling down her cheek. "Goodbye, June. Sorry for being such a deception to you. I'll love you no matter what."
"Just leave," I said, breaking eye contact with her.
"And Jeremy... I'm sorry for what I did to you too. My jealousy had the best of me."
Jer nodded, but didn't budge, just like me. She took one last glance at the both of us, opened the door, and told me "I still have the same phone number. If you need anything, I'll be glad to help you, June." And with that, she left.
And I hoped she left my life as well.
