Part 31: The show must go on
Michael's point of view
I woke up at 6pm, and June wasn't next to me. I rubbed my eyes, and made my way to the bathroom. When I opened the door, there she was, brushing her teeth, a towel wrapped around her perfect body. I folded my arms, and looked at her, leaning on the door side.
"Sleep well?" She asked, looking at me in the mirror, her toothbrush still in her mouth.
"Yeah, thanks." I answered with a smile.
She rinced her mouth, and sat on the washing machine just next to her, and began to brush her long blond hair.
"Ready for tonight?" she asked me with a smile.
I unfolded my arms and put my hands in my pocket, looking at her, "I'm nervous, but yeah, I'm ready. Are you?"
"I'm always ready to see you on stage, Michael" she said, smiling at me.
I walked closer to her, and made my way between her bare legs, resting my hands on her knees. I looked up at her, and placed a gentle kiss on her soft pink lips. When I pulled back, I noticed that the bruise on her wrist had become darker, and suddenly I felt angry again.
"I can't wait to fire this jerk" I said between clenched teeth, examining her wrist.
She put her wrist away from my sight, and lifted my chin up to look deep into my eyes.
"Forget about all of this for tonight. I'll be fine. We are fine now, ok?" She softly said, placing her hands behind my neck.
"We are fine", I repeated, weakly smiling.
She wrapped her legs aroung my waist, and placed a passionate kiss on my lips. Everthing I could think about at this moment was this little towel she was wearing. Seriously, this woman is really hot. I can't help it but think about ripping this towel from her, and, you know...
When she pulled back from the kiss, she was bitting her lower lip while looking at me.
"Stop doing this" I whispered, looking at her.
"Doing what?" She asked me.
"Bitting your lip, and kissing me this way! You're making me crazy" I admitted.
She pushed me away from between her legs, and jumped from the washing machine. "Okay, whatever you want, Mikey." She said, reaching my lips and pecking them.
She made her way out of the bathroom, and get in the dressing room. I followed her, took my outfit for tonight's show, and returned in the bathroom to put it on and to get prepared. A few minutes later, as I was fully dressed, I fixed my hair a little, and put it into a low ponytail, with a few locks resting on my forehead. I didn't put any make up: this is Karen's job.
When I got out of the bathroom, June was in her underwears, standing in front of the dressing room with an angry look on her face.
"I have nothing to wear!" she dramatically said.
"That's what evey woman on the planet say, but look at this closet, it's full of clothes!" I said, laughing. "Look", I said, coming closer to her and the dressing room. I picked up some black skinny jeans, a simple white t-shirt and a cozy cardigan, and then handed these to June.
"Put this on, before I eat you." I said, looking at her body.
She tilted her head, and put the clothes I gave her on, without saying anything. When she was finished, she went to the bathroom to put some nude make up on, and then came in the living room where I was standing.
"Let's go, shall we?" I asked her.
She kissed me passionately, and then headed to the door.
"Now we can go" she told me with a half smile on her lips.

June's point of view
I was in the backstages, watching Michael perform. He was singing This Place Hotel, one of my favourite song of his. I love the way he moves, the way he sings, the way he grabs his crotch... Eveything. I love everything about this man. Karen came next to me, and put her hand on my shoulder.
"Can I have a word?" She softly asked me.
"Sure, what the matter?" I said with a smile.
"Come with me" she said, grabbing my hand.
We were now in Michael's dressing room. She closed the door behind us, and I sat on the couch. She joined me, and stared at me with a worried look in her eyes.
"What's going on between you and Michael?" she asked me, taking my hand.
"Um...I can't tell you, Karen. I'm sorry..."
"Are you still together? Michael told me a hundred times that you was the love of his life." she sadly told me. "I'm his friend, I've always been there when he needed me."
"I know, Karen. But it's complicated..." I said, looking at my lap.
"You are my friend too, June. You can talk to me if you want to." she said, rubbing the top of my hand. "Now, what's the matter?"
"Frank." I simply said.
"What about him?" She asked, worried.
And I told her about eveything that has been going on lately. She looked at my injured wrist in shock. She explained me that she has known Frank for a little time now, and she always saw him like a vicious person.
"Are you guys really fine despite the fact that you're playing some kind of role?" Asked a concerned Karen.
"We are. I really love him, you know." I said, feeling myself blushing.
"Tell me about it! I see how you guys look at each other." She said, winking at me.
"Yeah... I can't even explain how I feel when I'm with him" I sincerely said.
"Awwwww" Karen said, which made me giggle. "Come on, let's go back to see your man on stage!"
I smiled, and we walked out of the dressing room. When we made our way back to the backstages, Michael was singing Je Ne Veux Pas La Fin De Nous with Sheryl. I listened to them very carefuly, and sang along with them. I can tell that Sheryl was stressed by the sound of her voice, but she sang well anyway. And Michael... God, he was amazing. He took a quick look at me: he knew I was there, watching him carefully. While Michael was watching me, Frank came to me, and harshly grabbed my arm and led me in the hallaway. I tried my best to escape from his grip, but he was too strong, and the more I tried, the more it hurt.
"You can't fool me, I know you and Michael are still together. I heard your conversation with Karen."
"So you're snooping around now?" I said with an attitude.
"Don't play with me, little girl. You could be hurt."
"Oh, hurting a girl, how brave of you!" I sarcastically said.
He pushed me hard against the wall again, and bashed the wall with his fist, just next to me head.
"Don't get me started. Now answer the damn question: is this true?" he said between clenched teeth.
Michael's point of view
What the hell? Why Frank grabbed her hand so harshly? I swear if he hurts her one more time, this ain't gonna be pretty to see. How can I be focused now? What the lyric after this one? Oh yeah!
"Notre amour brillera dans ce monde, il m'a vraiment tout apporté" I sang, looking deep into Sheryl's eyes. She gave me a weird look. Do I look this worried?
We sang the chorus one more time, and fortunately, it was time for the band to do his little show. I have exactly five minutes and thrity six seconds to check on June. Where the hell is she? I passed in front of Karen, and she grabbed my arm.
"I'm sorry Karen, but I'm in a rush right now." I said
"June told me everything, and she's with Frank right now, somewhere in the hallway" she told me, worried.
"Thanks" I said, before running to the hallway.
I could hear Frank's loud voice echoing, he was yelling at her. He told her not to play with him, or he could... What? He could hurt her? God, this man's insane! I ran the faster that I could, and then found the both of them. June was leant on the wall, with Frank's fist just next to her head.
"What the hell is going on here?" I asked, out of breath.
"I heard her! I know you two are still together, you lied to me!" Frank yelled, walking closer to me.
I looked down at June, and noticed she was terrified. I saw it in her eyes. She shook her head to me, and put her finger on her mouth. She was basically asking me not to say a word to Frank.
"No, we're not." I said, not knowing what to say.
"She said to Karen that she never felt this way before, that she really loves you. Dammnit, Michael! I heard it!" he yelled once again.
I walked closer to him, and pushed him away. "Don't you dare yell at me." I said, between clenched teeth. "Get out of here."
"W-What? No, Mike!" He pleaded.
"Get the fuck out of here. And it's Michael. Only my friends can call me Mike." I said, pushing him one more time. I never curse, but this time, I had to make myself clear.
"Michael you're out of your mind! I am your friend!"
"You're fired, get out now!!" I yelled at him.
He looked at me one last time, and gave June a disguted look, and then get out of the stadium. I ran to June, and she litteraly broke down crying in my arms.
"It's ok, it's ok. He's gone now" I said, rubbing her back and kissing her forehead.
"Why-Why did you do that?" She asked me between sobs.
"I had to. I couldn't wait. He threatened you, June. I don't even recognize him..." I said, feeling a lump forming in my throat.
"I'm sorry" she said, crying even more.
I took her head in my hands, and looked deep in her eyes. "Don't you dare being sorry about anything"
"Let's face it, Michael! It's all my fault!" she hissed.
"No! Don't feel guilty about this. The only person responsible here is Frank!"
"You lost one of your friend because of me, Michael!" she cried.
"No. I didn't lose a friend. Thank you for showing me who he really is." I soflty said.
I wiped her tears away, and placed a kiss on her forehead. She wrapped her arms around my waist, and rested her head a few second on my chest.
"I should go back on stage" I whispered in her ear.
"Yeah, go ahead, and give your best. I'm fine, don't worry." she said, weakly smiling.
"I want you to stay with Karen. I don't want you to be-"
She cut me off.
"Michael, don't worry about me. Go, your fans are waiting for you!"
I kissed her lips soflty, whispered in her ear that I love her and ran on stage again. Time for Thriller!
Focus, Mike.
June's point of view
As I made my way back to the backstages where everyone was, Karen motionned me to come next to her. She wrapped one of her arm around my shoulder, and pulled me closer to her.
"I'm here, girl. You can cry, let it out." She soflty said to me, rocking me like a baby.
I laid my head on her shoulder, and began to cry again. I can't help but feel guilty about what has been going on. I mean, if I had not been in Michael's life, he would still have his manager, and his friend. I ruined eveything... Maybe Frank was right when he said I was nothing but a distraction for Michael. I don't wanna ruin his career, I don't wanna ruin anything.
*
Michael finished his show by singing Bad, as always, waved at the crowd one more time and made his way back to the backstages where Karen and I were waiting for him to finish. He held out his hand to me, and I took it. We then headed to his dressing room, and once we stepped into it, Michael closed the door behind us. He wrapped his arms around my waist from behind, and rested his head on my shoulder. He was all sweaty, but I really didn't care.
"Are you ok?" he softly asked me.
"Yeah" I lied. "I guess."
He kissed my neck, and told me everything will come back to normal now he fired Frank.
I wish I could believe him.
