The harsh wind made it difficult to see through the rain that pelted the large group of cats.
But none could feel the cold grasp of the rain compared to the fear that was settled deep in their bones.
A brown tom sat proudly and glorified above the rest of the group.
His hazel eye showed no light to them, only coldness that could beat the weather that surrounded them.
Bellow him laying on the hard, wet ground, was a ginger and white tom, struggling to breathe.
Red poured out from the tom's mouth and onto the darkened ground.
Large and ghastly wounds that poured out a red liquid, blended into his white fur.
A yellow eye glared at the ginger she-cat standing in front of him.
Shakily, the tom stood up on his paws just as the other cat behind him dug their claws into his backside.
This caused the tom to yowl in pain and weakly swiped at the cat, who dodged the swipe swiftly.
A battle of tearing at the tom continues for what felt like an eternity.
Finally, the tom watching above waved his tail as a signal to stop the attack.
Only the heavy panting of the young tom laying in the mud could be heard for a while.
With a cold silence, the tom kept down from the ledge.
Slowly walking up to the younger cat the older tom spoke loudly for every cat that surrounded them to hear clearly.
"Embersight." The leader says with a start that has the bloody cat shifting to look up at him.
The cat didn't say a word, just stares up at the untouched brown tom.
"I will give you one more chance to tell me everything you know, starting from your little meetings."
He walks around the tom in a calm and cool manner, though many can tell there was a burning rage inside their leader that was being held back by a loose thread.
Embersight once again said nothing as he watched the tom.
A flash of anger ran through the leader which led to a quick rake of claws against a blood-covered pelt.
"Save yourself with the prideful act Embersight, you have your own kins' blood on your paws because of your traitorous ways."
The brown toms tail lashed in annoyance and aggravation at the memory of the killing that happened a few days ago.
His gaze landed on the dark ginger she-cat who was soaked in blood and suddenly the tom's attitude changed on the drop.
"At least we know who is more loyal to things other than blood." He moved to stand beside the she-cat, their pelts nearly touching.
This illicit a low growl from Embersight and a sudden scramble of paws trying to grip the muddy earth.
He came so close to laying his claws into the unscarred pelt, so close that the cats around them let out yowls in protest of the act.
It didn't matter though as a flash of orange showed why she was loyal to only one cat.
Far off in a den location at the edge of the camp, sat a mother and her two kits, at the age of 4 moons.
They sat huddled next to each other, soft fluffy pelts keeping them warm from the storm happening inches from their faces.
"Why does Embersight have to be treated that way, maybe he was trying to help." Squeaks out the tiny voice of the brown tabby tom, shaking next to his sister.
"Because this is the way that our Clan and your father do things." A lilac tortoiseshell responds.
"Even if he didn't do anything wrong?" The little she kit says, not looking away from her mother's saddened face.
The group of cats was now slowly dispersing away from the constant reminder of a nightmare they were living.
She turned her head towards her kits with a soft, small smile before giving each a lick on the tops of their heads.
"Remember this my kits, there is only one way of survival in this Clan. And that was shown here today, never go against your father."
With that, she ushered the kits further inside the den.
(Here's the prologue for Mizpah! It may have come off as awful but i tried not to give to much away here ^^'. Anyway wait to see the first chapter come out for Mizpah!)
