XXXI. Final Mission
The boys top 9 reveal was pretty shocking. Yao Mingming climbed up to the debut group, but sadly Seungjoon dropped from the debut group.
The eliminations wrapped up with many sad tears, and we were guided to our new dorm destination and different rooms for the last mission.
The final mission.
I cleared my throats and sat down, reading the info card on the desk.
"Let's see..." I murmured as I pulled up the song.
The first song was called "Come Over". It was very cheerful and cute, but also really catchy. I liked it, but the dance wasn't that powerful.
The next one was called "Omona". Only a second into the song, and I knew it was the one. The dance was also really good.
"This is it." I said to myself. I liked more mature songs than cute ones.
I waited and waited for my turn to come to choose, since the lower ranks got to choose their songs first. But that meant I could push someone out of the group, which is something I really didn't want to do.
If I ended up pushing out someone, they'd probably hate me. The way Mixnine does it's things are so cruel.
My turn came, and I walked out of the room, heading straight to Omona. I had a feeling Ryujin would be there, and even though she's my best friend, I didn't want to be on the same team as her. She would be hard to compete against.
When I saw the board outside of "Omona", I died inside. All the spots were filled, so I had to kick someone out. But luckily, it seemed like Ryujin chose "Come Over".
I let out a heavy sigh after choosing their card. I pushed open the door and everyone started causing a commotion.
"Ahh I don't want to~" I whined and stomped my feet. "I can't!"
"It's okay!" They assured.
I frowned and looked at the card. "I'm sorry...Hyokyung!" I said painfully.
Hyokyung's expression dropped.
"You can do good on any team, that's why I chose you." I said giving her a hug and a slap in the butt. "I'm sorry."
Hyokyung nodded and smiled. "I'm coming Jimin!!!" She said as she ran out the door.
I sat down and nodded at my team. "This is the final mission, let's work hard together!" I cheered.
_
Filming finally ended, and we were allowed some free time.
I decided to go to the hospital (this time not at past midnight though), and visit my mother.
I made my way to her room, the doctors greeting me. My mother was still laying on the bed, her chest rising up and down. "Has anything happen?" I asked the doctors.
"I'm afraid not. She's not showing improvement, or getting worse."
I let out a sigh and held my mom's cold hand. "Mom...please wake up soon. I won't give up on you, I'll wait until you wake up. When you wake up, I'll say all the things to you that I should've said before."
I wiped a tear quickly. "I hope I can debut."
"Please wake up."
"I love you mom."
After talking to my mother for a couple of hours, I left the room, my mood probably worse than before I came. It hurt me to see my strong mother laying lifelessly on the hospital bed.
_
I was putting money into a nearby vending machine to get a drink, but my hand bumped into someone else's. I turned and looked at them.
"Jihyun?!" Jinyoung yelped.
"Oh, fancy meeting you here." I plainly said. "Fate just really wants us together." I said also, jokingly.
"It sure does." Jinyoung said, leaning in to steal a kiss from me. ON THE LIPS.
This is the third time but my reaction is always the same.
I shook the fluttery-ness out of my head and jabbed him in the forehead with my finger.
"You are the cutest."
"Yeah, I'm cuter than you." I said.
"Of course you are."
"Just kidding, no one is cuter than my little Jinyoungieeee~" I acted cringyly-cute (the type that makes your toes curl up).
"Hey, stop that." He deadpanned. "Anyways, why are you here?"
"Are you dumb--"
"Wait, I can answer that question myself." He said. "So how is your mother doing?"
"She's okay." I said. "I also visited Sujin. She's fine too."
Jinyoung nodded.
"Why are you here?" I asked.
"My grandma is sick." He frowned, but then quickly lit up again. "Wait, Jihyun, you should come meet my grandma!!"
"Me? Why??" I asked.
"She said she wanted to meet you." Jinyoung said, grabbing my hand and pulling me to the room, right next to my mother's. What a coincidence.
Jinyoung opened the door and my jaw dropped.
What a coincidence #2.
"Granny Woo?!?!" I gasped and covered my mouth.
"Jihyun-darling!!!" Granny Woo smiled with her wrinkly eyes. She was like the last time I remembered, wearing her small glasses.
"Wait a second--WAIT A SECOND-" Jinyoung stopped. "You guys know each other?!?!"
I placed a hand on Jinyoung's shoulder. "Remember when I went missing that one night? She was the one that helped me!!"
Jinyoung gasped loudly. "Grandma?! You didn't tell me about this!!"
Granny Woo scratched her head. "How am I supposed to remember that when I don't even remember how old I am?"
"You even called her a murderer, Jinyoung." I said.
"That's because I didn't know it was my own grandma!!" He said defensively.
I laughed. "This is such a coincidence."
"You're the girl my son keeps talking about then..." She said.
Jinyoung nodded. "You didn't recognize her that one night?"
Granny Woo shrugged. "I recognized her from tv, but not as your girlfriend."
"He's not--"
"We're not--"
"Don't give me that crap, I know about alllll the things you two do." She said.
"But don't make it sound dirty!!" Jinyoung said.
"This is so embarrassing." I said to myself and pinched my nose bridge. "Moving on."
Jinyoung and I sat down next to her bed.
Granny Woo sighed heavily. "I'm so tired."
"What? Why?" I asked.
"I'm getting old, as you can tell." She said plainly.
"She had a couple mini-heart attacks within the few months." Jinyoung said sadly.
I frowned. "That's...not good. I hope you can stay strong, Granny Woo."
Granny Woo nodded and smiled. "If my grandson doesn't marry you, I won't let him marry anyone else." She suddenly said.
Heat crawled up to my cheeks and I let out a nervous laugh. "I don't know what to say to that." I could feel Jinyoung smirking at me.
"I wouldn't let me marry anyone else." He added, making my embarrassment ten times worse. "There is no one like my Jihyunie."
I covered my cheeks and ears shyly and muttered nonsense. "T-thanks..."
"If we weren't in front of my grandma right now, you'd probably hit me." He said.
"You're right." I said plainly.
"Aigoo..." Jinyoung's grandma let out a sigh as her breathing got heavier.
"I'm going to rest for a little bit..."
