for @parkraeraseyo11 , ty for requesting againnn 🦊 [WARNING: ANGST, BRING UR TISSUES]
"Hey." Rubin, the one and only real life prince and my best friend, looked at me softly and smiled.
I looked at him and raised my eyebrow. "What's with the sudden kindness, prince?"
Rubin rolled his eyes. "I can be nice and modest too."
I started laughing uncontrollably, holding my stomach.
"You are. So. Mean!" He deadpanned, poking my side.
I stopped laughed and smiled at him. "You're welcome. Anyways, hello your highness, what do you need today?"
"Your hand." Rubin said and smirked.
Heat rose to my face and I slapped him on the forehead. "You should know I'm not ready to marry yet."
Rubin remained serious. "I am completely serious."
"Huh?" I looked at him weirdly, and even weirder when he started leaning into me.
My heart--MY HEART--
Rubin swiftly leaned in and gave me a kiss.
A KISS.
When he pulled back, I was left with a baffled expression, and mix of happiness/confusion/shock/anger.
Kiss = like.
Like = more than best friends.
More than best friends = couple(???)
"R-Rubin!" I shrieked and covered my mouth.
Rubin looked at me innocently. "What is it, princess?" He grabbed my hands sneakily, playing with my fingers.
"W-what w-was t-that......." I muttered nonsense, trying to stop the redness taking over my face. "Why did you do that?"
"Because my princess, I wasn't lying when I said I wanted your hand." He said and grinned.
"I want you to be my girlfriend."
My jaw dropped.
Rubin,
as in rEal life prince and 'american' guy and LA ribs and visual boy and vocal monster--
Just asked me to be his girlfriend?
"Isn't it about time?" He asked. "That we date?"
"..." I could do nothing but nod frantically.
Rubin laughed. "You're so adorable."
"Stop that." I glared at him and crossed my arms.
"And now you're acting like you're mad at me?" He teased and leaned in to take a closer look at my face. "You haven't even given me a clear answer."
I 'hmphed' and turned away. "I suppose." I muttered.
"What was that?" He asked.
"I suppose."
"Huh?"
"I'LL BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND, YOU DUMBASS--" I yelled and yanked on his ear.
Rubin yelped, but quickly recovered, giving me a peck on my cheek. "That's all I wanted to hear."
"Uh huh." I said and rolled my eyes. But I couldn't keep the smile from taking over my face.
"I knew you liked it."
MONTHS LATER
"I miss you." I said and smiled sadly into the phone, to my boyfriend.
My boyfriend whom I haven't seen in person for weeks.
Rubin frowned. "I'm sorry it has to be like this."
"I just want to see you." I said. "Once Mixnine is over though, we can see each their everyday, right?"
Rubin nodded and a big smile. "I'll kiss you a million times to make up for the times I couldn't."
"And I'll yank on your ears a million times to make up for the times I couldn't." I said.
"Meanie~" Rubin pouted.
I laughed. "That's me."
"Anyways, please vote for me~" Rubin said. "It's the final soon."
I nodded. "I always do. I made 50 different accounts to vote for you on."
"That's cheating!" He said.
"Whatever." I said rolled my eyes. "Anyways, Rubin, good luck."
"Thank you, my princess. My one and only love. My cutie pie and--"
I cringed. "Stopppp~"
"I should go practice now, goodnight babe."
I stuck out my bottom lip. "Goodnight, don't get injured, be careful."
"I will, eat well and don't get sick. I love you." Rubin said, before hanging up.
I sighed, putting my phone down.
"I love you too, Rubin."
WEEKS LATER
"FINAL 3RD PLACE: LEE RUBIN!!!"
My jaw dropped as I saw Rubin make his way up to the platform. I yelled happily and jumped around, waving my sign around wildly.
Rubin's eyes landed on me and he happily smiled. The smile that I had missed so dearly.
I was extremely happy, that Rubin wouldn't have to struggle on the path of being a trainee any longer.
But I couldn't shake the feelings off that something not right would have to happen.
The showcase of the last episode of Mixnine had ended, and I was backstage, looking for Rubin.
My eyes landed on him and I ran into his open arms, and he crushed me in a big hug.
"I'm so proud of you." I muttered.
Rubin chuckled and smoothed out my hair. "I only made it because you supported me the whole way."
"No, you did it all on your own." I said.
"I did it because I thought of you the whole time." Rubin pulled back, giving me a long kiss.
I blushed and grinned. "I hope your injury gets better too. I told you not to hurt yourself!" I scolded.
"I know~" Rubin said. "Don't worry baby, I'm fine."
I rolled my eyes. "Whatever."
Rubin chuckled and grabbed me, throwing me over his shoulder and walking off.
"Where are we going??" I whined. "You're going to break something else, I swear to god--"
"Shh, we're going home."
MONTHS LATER
Lee Rubin.
I watched as he emerged from the stage. I watched in the audience, like last time. But it was different back then than how it is now.
Last time, I was watching as Lee Rubin's girlfriend.
Now, I'm only watching, as a friend. Or even only an acquaintance.
Rubin debuted with the top9 of Mixnine, and it was successful.
It wasn't successful for our relationship, though. Days after debuting, Rubin broke up with me.
"I have to break up with you, if I'm debuting, it's better if we break up."
"I don't want to hurt you, I want you to be happy."
Those were the words he said. But I wasn't happy.
Yeah, I was moving on, but I knew Rubin didn't break up with me because he didn't love me anymore.
Because I knew, he did love me, and that was the exact reason why he broke up with me.
Right?
I watched him walk onstage with the other members, wearing a large prince-like smile like he usually did.
He didn't change at all, and seeing him right in front of my eyes made me miss him even more.
Do you miss me like I miss you?
The song started, with Rubin's voice filling up the arena.
Minutes later into the song, Rubin made his way closer to me.
Finally, his eyes landed on me and they widened, and he nearly forgot to sing the song too.
I laughed at his mistake and waved. I'm happy. I'll pretend to be happy without you, Rubin.
Rubin made his way closer to me until we were face to face with each other.
"You're...here." He said. "It's been a long time."
I nodded. "It has. I'm proud of you, Rubin."
"Thank you." He said, giving a smile. Rubin's eyes were filled with different emotions that I couldn't see through.
Do you miss me like I miss you?
"And," He added.
"I'm sorry."
