"Hey Hyerin, I like the color of your shirt today." Mina said, sitting down next to me.
I looked at her weirdly and sighed. "Stop bragging. What color am I wearing? I thought it was just white."
Mina snickered. "It's a light pink."
I groaned. "It must be pretty. I want to see color too."
"You will find yourself a soulmate soon, just like how I found my Jonghung." Mina said dreamily.
"Will I really though?" I asked and laughed. "From what I'm seeing, I'll be single for life with the only company me having are 50 cats."
Mina slapped a hand on my back. "It'll happen."
"Imagine this: I find my soulmate but I'm not his."
"Stop thinking so negatively, that doesn't happen, dumbo."
"Then I would be the first." I said.
"Nuh uh." She shook her head. "Oh--JONGHUNG!" She suddenly yelled and ran off towards the dude's direction, leaving me alllll alone.
I sighed. I wonder what color looks like.
"Hyerinnie~" A voice called out beside me.
I turned around. "Hi." I said.
"Nice to see you too." Hyunsuk replied sarcastically.
"I never said that?" I said back with a smirk.
"You don't have to say it for me to know." Hyunsuk smirked, reaching up and patting my cheek.
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. "What do you want?"
"I bought lunch for you." He said, handing me a piece of bread.
My eyes lit up. "Did you really?"
Hyunsuk nodded. "Aren't I the best?"
"No, but you're close." I said, taking the food out of his hands and putting it in my mouth.
Hyunsuk gave me a bright angelic smile and stared at me as I chewed.
"This is goo--" I suddenly gaged on the bitter taste I was suddenly tasting.
"CHOI. HYUN. SUK!!!!" I yelled with my mouth full.
Hyunsuk snickered. "Sorry babe."
Babe?!
I ignored his comment and slapped him on the back of his head.
"OW!"
"HOW OLD IS THIS?!" I shrieked, spitting the piece of bread out, and suddenly noticing the molding green on it.
Hyunsuk shrugged. "I found it under my bed."
I glared at him. "I'm going to strangle you. Stop playing these pranks!"
Hyunsuk stuck his tongue out at me. "You can't stop me~"
I yanked on Hyunsuk's ear. "Yes, I can."
"No you can't. You're tiny." Hyunsuk grinned, poking my nose.
I rolled my eyes, slumping in my seat and crossing my arms grumpily. "I hate you."
"Well I like you." Hyunsuk said.
My cheeks flushed, even though I should know by now that everything he says or does is a prank. I reached up and slapped his forehead. "STOP!"
"Okay fine, I'll stop." Hyunsuk laughed. "I'm sorry~"
I rolled my eyes again. "Why am I friends with you?"
"Because you like me."
"I do not!" I said. "If I liked you, I'd be able to see purple pink yellow orange--"
Hyunsuk laughed and stuck his tongue out at me. "I see alllll of those, they're pretty."
"Stop bragging." I said grumpily.
"You're wearing a pretty shirt today." Hyunsuk said. "It's pink!"
"I want to see pink. I want to see blue and purple and all the colors--BUT I CAN'T~~" I whined again. "I'm so envious."
"I've been seeing it for a long time, but I still don't know who my soulmate is." Hyunsuk sighed. "I don't talk to any girls."
"You talk to me." I deadpanned.
"But you don't see color. So it can't be you." Hyunsuk said. "But I sure would like it to be."
"I'm going to ignore what you said, and also that just means your soulmate is most likely a man, and so that means your gay--"
"I'm not gay!"
"You're just in denial, Hyunsuk."
DAYS LATER
I groaned as the sunlight hit my eyes, rubbing and opening them.
"Why is everything so..." I suddenly froze and gasped.
"It's...weird looking." I whispered in awe and stood up, running to my window to look outside.
Everything looked so much more--alive. It felt rich, it felt complete, and full--
Am I seeing color?
Is this it?
Have I found my soulmate?
I was in awe, staring at the green trees and the flashing lights of the city. "It's so beautiful. Those birds are so pretty--"
I remembered something and went to the mirror to look at myself. It was so weird--seeing myself in color.
"Am I dreaming?" I asked and slapped my cheeks. "I CAN SEE COLOR!! I FOUND MY SOULMATE!!" I yelled loudly and jumped around, absolutely elated and excited.
"HYERIN, BE. QUIET!!!!" My mother yelled from the other room.
LATER IN THE DAY
I was walking around in the hallways of my school, noticing that not everything was full in color yet. I was confused, why can't I see everything fully in color yet?
Who exactly is my soulmate?
Just like Hyunsuk, I didn't talk to any guys.
I want to know. I thought to myself. Is he handsome?
My mind started imagining a real life prince, coming to me looking as dashing as ever.
But I nearly choked on thin air when I realized that "prince" I was imagining had the face of,
Choi Hyunsuk.
I shook my head violently. It can't be him.
Can it?
I stepped inside my classroom, seeing Hyunsuk's bright face.
But I should've known it wasn't that easy.
As I walked through, my foot caught on something in the doorway, and I went falling down down down--
I let out a yelp as I fell until I landed in someone's arms. My eyes traveled up to their face, in which wore a smug expression.
Hyunsuk.
But what I found was even weirder--was that when I met his eyes, something changed again.
In the corner of my eye, an apple on the desk turned into a crimson color, along with many other things in the room changing into a shade that wasn't gray.
"Why hello there, princess." Hyunsuk said jokingly and smirked, getting me back on my feet.
I furrowed my eyebrows, trying to put the pieces together, not noticing that my arms were still holding onto Hyunsuk.
"I...I can see it all." I said.
"See what?"
"...Hyunsuk, I think you're my soulmate."
