Chapter Nineteen
IF A WORD IS IN BOLD, IT WILL BE DEFINED IN THE AUTHOR'S NOTE!
Saliva flew from his mouth as he clenched his teeth in a seething rage. "You will not win this time!", he retorted.
"Shut your geggie!", I said as I clashed my sword to his. Taking advantage of his bent sword, I fit my sword into the bent grooves and pulled sideways, making his sword fly across the courtyard and hit the ground with a victorious crash.
The other men laughed at that. Instead of laughing with the men, our teacher turned to Birger and shook his head. "Do you give up?", he questioned harshly.
"Never. I will not lose to a girl.", He spat.
"Have it your way.", I retorted. Birger turned back into his stance but did not bother to retrieve his sword. "Ready! G-", "Wait!", Birger interrupted. "She has a sword but I do not! It is only fair that she hands over he sword as well!", he begged.
The teacher looked back at the men, shaking his head and turning back to me. I knew he wanted me to hand it over.
"So be it!", I said as I threw my sword across the courtyard.
He still stood in a stance, but this time, his fists were clenched into tight, angry balls, shaking with uncontrollable anger.
He punched near my head, making me flinch, nearly catching my ear. He snuck in circles, but as did I. He punched at me once more, striking me in the stomach. Rearing up behind him, I moved my knuckle towards his backbone, swiftly making contact with his tailbone as he struck the ground. He laid on the stone surface, still for a moment, but before I could comprehend his actions, he had popped up from the ground again and knocked me in the jaw.
I staggered backwards, holding my jaw as I did so. Pure anger flooded my veins, sending me into an enraged sprint. I bolted towards him, my fists in the air as his blurry figure passed by me. He hurtled towards me, but I dodged him, punching him in his stomach as he sped by.
"You missed me.", he stuttered. "And, I'm not about to miss you again!", I retorted. He staggered forward, his arms swaying as he moved. I took his condition to my advantage, punching him hard in his jaw, and tripping him as he stumbled every which way. He was sprawled upon the floor once again, breathing heavily, but still refusing to give up. I could see it in his eyes. For a small moment I felt a pang of pity for him and deep remorse, for at some times, within the depths of my knowledge of him, he was like me: tired, scared, but brave, stubborn, and fierce.
He had clearly noticed this because his vision had faltered upon my eyes as he blurted," Do not feel pity for me! Pity is for the weak! The weak and the powerless!", he pushed himself from the ground and stood to face me, his angry gaze staring into my fierce one.
"What good is power unless you know the manner in which to use it? Remember, sometimes power is corrupt.", I put my hands to my hips for a split second before moving them to my side.
"Finish me! I dare you! Unless you are a coward!", his breathing was heavy as the words bounced from my ears and to my mind. I felt his breath on my breath, for we were standing at such a close proximity. "If I did not 'finish you', I would not be considered a coward. It would be an act of mercy, something which you know nothing of.", I said sharply, making him move away from me.
"Finish me!", he repeated. "Fine.", I replied. In a sudden swift movement of my foot, I had him on the ground, puddles of Crimson liquid forming near his lip as blood caked in his teeth.
"I surrender.", he whispered wearily. "You would never surrender to a girl, huh?", I joked as I leaned down near him. "But thank you.", he looked touched for a moment before his facial expression had turned back to his usual, angry, arrogant one.
A/N: Geggie- Scottish slang term meaning mouth.
