"Grab onto something!" Lloyd shouted

"I'm trying!" Kai screamed

"There's nothing to grab it's too smooth!" Jay shrieked

"Guys! Guys! Guys!" Cole shouted

Misty saw what he was so panicked about ahead of them was very sharp-looking spikes and they were about to slide straight into them. All of the ninjas screamed and Kai gritted his teeth and said, "I got this!" And he shot a fireball into the spikes and the Ninja flew into smoke all screaming.

Once Misty recovered she sat up and rubbed the side of her head, "That was certainly a better landing than the alternative," She muttered

Cole, gently let go of her hand, and he glared at Jay and scowled, "He said to step over them!"

"I did!" Jay shouted back only to then noticed the spider web still stuck to his foot. And he had a sheepish look on his face. Cole meanwhile looked unimpressed and said, "If you did, we wouldn't be lying here in a pit with--" He noticed all of the ninjas were staring at him fearfully and Misty even scooted back she even reached out and tried to tug him toward her while staring at something behind him.

"What? What are you staring at?" Cole asked and Jay pointed behind Cole. Cole turned to look and screamed and threw himself backward crashing into Misty. Behind him was the skeleton of an explorer that had been obviously impaled on one of the spikes.

"I wonder who that was?" Zane said

"Someone who didn't stop in time," Kai said

Cole got off of Misty and helped her to her feet, and the other ninja also clambered to their feet.

Powers walked over to the skeleton to inspect it, and Jay followed him. He turned around and pointed to Powers looking shocked. But no one noticed and Powers turned around and said, "Hmm. Hageman, a competitor. He was good very good. But he didn't read my book, and it cost him his life."

"Actually, he did read it," Zane said as he picked up the book from the bag laying near the departed Hageman.

"let me see that!" Powers said and he snatched the book from Zane. He flipped through the book until he got to the part that was booked marked and he showed the ninja the page and said, "He stopped on Chapter 8, cobweb traps are in Chapter 9." He then tossed the book behind him and it hit the skeleton causing it to crumble and fall off the spike. Behind it was a dark tunnel. They followed Powers into the tunnel and into a room with golden sarcophaguses that lined the wall.

"Will ya look at that?" Kai marveled.

"Nobody touch nothin." Clutch said and the team moved on until they came to a pillar that blocked their path. "Gumdrops," Clutch said

"Cole?" Lloyd said with a smirk.

"I got this," Cole said with a grin and he activated his lava arms and lifted the pillar. The ninja peered at their cleared path but didn't move forward. "Any day now!" Cole grunted. The ninja hurried through. Cole threw the rock up and then followed. Once he was on the other side, Misty smiled and gently patted him on his cheek. Even in the dim lighting, she could tell Cole was blushing. She then turned and continued walking with the others. They entered a room with a wall that looked to be a mural. But the picture was jumbled up like a puzzle.

"What is this?" Lloyd asked

"It appears to be an ancient locking mechanism. If the image is properly assembled the chamber will open." Zane said

"Ooh, like a puzzel game!" Jay exclaimed and he rushed forward and shouted, "I'm good at these!" Nya followed him with a smile. And the two began to work on the puzzle.

Misty walked over with Zane and Lloyd as they were gazing at a wall with drawings on it. "What does it say?" Lloyd asked.

"Beware, ye who enter the Serpent's tomb, for her anger nearly did consume. All Ninjago, until a foolish boy. With a staff of power her evil did destroy." Zane said

"It's a snake why is it always a snake though," Misty muttered unimpressed.

"What does that mean?" Lloyd asked

"Gobbledygook. Who knows? I haven't seen an inscription yet that made a lick of sense." Powers said. Just Zane turned around toward Nya and Jay and cried out, "No, don't!" but it was too late they had completed the puzzle and the image glowed brightly. The room started shaking and then the puzzle exploded. Misty could hear laughter coming from the darkness and when the dust cleared she saw a blue snake slithering out she held a spear and had orange eyes that glowed. "Free at last."

Lloyd looked up with a groan and Misty crawled over to him and tried to get him to sit up. As the snake closed in on him, "Where is he?" the snake hissed.

"Who?" Lloyd asked he sat up and gently placed a hand on Misty's arm nudging her behind him as the snake drew closer.

"The treacherous deceiver! The one who imprisoned me. Tell me where he is and I, Aspheera, will show you mercy." The snake said

"I believe she is looking for the boy mentioned in the hieroglyphics," Zane explained

"What do I tell her?" Lloyd asked

"Tell her the truth, we don't know!" Nya said The ninja were back on their feet and Lloyd said, "Um, that was a while ago..." The tip of the snake's spear started glowing and quickly Lloyd shoved Misty toward Zane. Just as the snake blasted him with energy causing him to fly back into a stone pillar. The ninja flipped up their hoods and Jay shouted, "Let her have it!" they blasted her with their elements but it did nothing and then the dust cleared and Aspheera said, "You, You are a fire elemental?" She was addressing Kai.

"Yeah, and the name's Kai!" Kai shot a blast at the snake but it did nothing and Aspheera said, "Your fire warms me. For too long I have been trapped in this cold, dark place!" She slithered forward and said, "I will take your fire,"

Kai's eyes narrowed and he said, "Oh, yeah?!" Aspheera then made a sweeping movement with her spear and a blast of energy that knocked the ninja off their feet. Aspheera then yanked Kai into the air and then began to sphion this element from him. Kai was screaming.

"What's happening!" Cole shouted,

"She's stealing his elemental powers! We must stop her!" Zane shouted The ninja then used Spinjitzu and tried to attack Aspheera but the snake used Spinjitzu against them and defeated them one by one. While continuing to steal Kai's powers.

"She knows Spinjitzu," Lloyd said

"How?" Jay. Aspheera finished stealing Kai's powers and Kai fell to the ground, "Kai!" Lloyd shouted and they rushed to his side. Right before Misty's eyes, the once blue snake turned golden and the hood around her face and tail was lit in flames. "I thank you, elemental! In return for your gift, I shall spare your lives." The ninjas were lifted off their feet and held against the wall and then chained against it and to each other. "May you enjoy your time in this place as much as I did farewell." And the snake slithered away.

"You won't get away with this!" Lloyd shouted and he thrashed from beside Misty. Misty gazed at the ground far below them and muttered, "They're really running out of ideas uh... another snake really..."

She then craned her neck to get a view of Kai and saw he was still knocked out. "Well it's safe to say, I bet I know where she's headed," Misty sighed

"What do you mean?" Cole asked and he looked at Misty from the other side of her.

"Oh, she's absolutely headed to Ninjago city," Misty said, and then she scoffed and said, "As if she'd be headed anywhere else..."

"How are you so calm!" Lloyd shouted and he continued to struggle. They were chained to a wall and were hanging by a cuff on one of their wrists.

"Oh, I'm not calm, it's just after you've been in scenarios like this more than once you're body learns to conserve energy by limiting your outward reactions. I am panicking it's just all happening on the inside," Misty replied matter of factly.

The ninja peered at her in disbelief and Misty scoffed and said, "This isn't the first time we've all been chained up and I bet this won't be our last... with our track record anyway, or at least with Lloyd's that is."

"What do you mean by that?!" Lloyd snapped.

Misty raised an eyebrow and said, "Do you realize how many times you've been shoved into a cage or chained up? I think you hold the recorded out of all of us..."

Lloyd scowled and said, "And do you know how many times you've almost died... you hold that record,"

"Actually I think Zane and I are tied for that," Misty muttered and she jerked her head in the direction of Ice ninja.

"Fine let's just drop this topic! We have more important things to do!" Lloyd huffed

"Like what hanging around?" Misty muttered sarcastically, but she fell quiet as well.
