Chapter Two
<ADRIENS POV>
I wake up to see Kagami's face. It's only peaceful at this time in the morning. Her lips are curved into the smallest of smiles and her eyelids flicker like there's something going on in her brain she won't tell me. She looks like how she used to look. Until age hardened her, at the age of 20.
Her eyes open slowly and she sees me watching her. A smile flashes across her face and she runs into the bathroom yelling "Me first!"
I exhale and get up, going to grab a pair of jeans and a black shirt with a paw print on it. It's a Chat Noir shirt I bought before my father died while feeling full of myself after defeating an Akuma. No Akumas had appeared since he died... so Ladybug and I assumed my father had been Hawk Moth. It all fit, anyway.
Kagami finally leaves the bathroom after what feels like hours. I hurry to take a shower, comb my hair, brush my teeth, put on a bit of makeup, and change into my clothes. Kagami is already watching the news.
"Marinette was heading down there when I was heading back," she says as I step out. "If you want to catch her."
I hurry out to have breakfast. Marinette is sitting at the table across from where Kagami sits. She eats her fruit slowly, her pancakes still on her plate. I walk over to the head of the table and sit, Nathalie bringing out a plate of my own. I quietly thank her before digging in.
"Good morning," Marinette says cheerfully. "Do you know what we're going to do today?"
"I... uh..." I stutter. "I can teach you piano?"
Her face brightens. "Really?! Wow, that'd be awesome!"
I smile back at her. "I'll set time aside for that. Maybe instead of Chinese."
Her smile fades. "I don't want to take away from yo—"
"I've almost mastered it. A day of break won't hurt."
Her smile returns to her face and she continues eating her breakfast. I manage to take a few bites of fruit before pushing my plate away.
"What is it?" Marinette asks.
"I'm on a diet," I mumble.
"Why?"
"Photoshoots," I say.
"You're perfectly fine," she says, standing. Nathalie steps closer to my shoulder. "You don't need to be on a diet!"
I wave Nathalie away. "Marinette, it's okay."
"But it's not! You're going to hurt yourself!"
"Marinette, please calm down," I say. "It's not that bad."
"NOT THAT BAD?" she yells. "The fact that you think that is bad enough!"
I feel my cheeks heat up. "Marinette, please. Can we talk about this... later?"
Her lips twist into a scowl as she returns to her seat and picks up her fork. I bite my lip as I lean back in my chair. The truth was... I had stopped caring how much I'd eaten. I wasn't even really on a diet anymore. I had been on a diet forced by my father for so long my stomach was too small to eat anything more.
<MARINETTES POV>
The time comes for Kagami and Adrien to go to fencing too soon. I stand at the top of the landing, arms crossed across my chest, hands gripping my elbows. Adrien glances back as he holds the door open for Kagami, giving me a small smile and wave before he exits. I manage a small smile and go back to the room I've been given.
As I'm looking for things to do around the room, I find a small book slid under the bed. I start reading it, curled up in between the pillows on the bed. Tikki peeks out of her bed I'd put on the window sill, hidden by the curtains from everywhere but where I sit.
"Marinette?"
I glance up. "Yeah?"
"Where'd you put the Miracle Box?"
I turn a page and nod toward the walk-in closet. "In the corner behind some empty shoe boxes."
Tikki nods and flies over to sit on my book. I giggle and look at her. She gives me a bright smile and turns my page for me.
"How're you doing?" she asks after a moment.
I feel tears well up behind my eyes as I remember why I'm here. "I don't know. I don't want to think about it."
Tikki bites her small cheek. "I'm sorry, Marinette." I smile sadly at her and she hugs my cheek. "You deserve better than him. Don't let it get you down."
I feel a tear roll down my cheek. "Thanks, Tikki. You're the best."
My small kwami pulls back and smiles at me. "That's what friends are for!"
I take a piece of fruit I'd smuggled from breakfast out of where I'd put it in a small box. Tikki looks in the box and I slam it shut, wagging a finger at her.
"Savor it," I say, opening the book again. "I won't be having any more fruit until tomorrow morning."
"So where do we start?" I ask, sliding onto the bench.
"Let's start with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," Adrien says, standing in front of me. "It's one of the easiest."
He stands next to me and shows me where to put my fingers. I press down and he beams at me.
"That was great!"
I smile, even though I knew he just said that to make me feel better. I play the next chord, which was so easy he only had to tell me to do it. He shows me the next spot, which I move to and press down on. He winces, walks behind me, and puts his hands on mine. I gasp, sitting up straighter. Adrien doesn't seem to notice, so I swallow and try to push down on my own. His touch is gone instantly.
"There you go. Wow, you're a fast learner!" he exclaims.
I offer him a tiny smile and move onto the next chord, swallowing my feelings.
He's in love with someone else, I think as I let him show me the next spot. These feelings aren't right. Get over him already.
YO So this is chapter TWO and I'm so excited for you guys to read it and ask me why I'm acting like Thomas! Sorry if they seem a little oc (I don't know whether I already said this here or in my other fanfiction), I'm trying my best.
