Competition - Jongyun Seok (pov)

"Wait up. What?" I exclaimed, my gaze fixed on Yunjin, who nodded mischievously. I turned to look at Songjae, finding him nodding shyly in my direction.

"So then it's true? He likes me in that way?" I inquired to myself in my head, my curiosity piqued by his confession.

"Since when?" I directed the question at him, eager to delve into this newfound revelation.

"Since...uh...since we were twelve...but I, uh, figured that out... yesterday...ugh, this is embarrassing," Songjae admitted, his cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

"What do you mean figured it out? Tell me everything, Songjae," I urged, grabbing his wrist, with Yunjin following closely as we sprinted out of the building towards the empty club room.

Once inside, I gestured for Songjae to sit on the stage while Yunjin pulled up a chair, settling herself beside us. With my arms crossed, I fixed my gaze on him, demanding answers.

"Tell me, Songjae," I insisted, watching him visibly clench his teeth before speaking.

"What do you want to know?" he asked nervously, his face still flushed.

"Everything. Tell me everything," I pressed on.

"Uh...my name is Songjae," he joked lightly, a small laugh escaping him before he delved into his confession.

As he recounted his journey of curiosity turning into attraction, I couldn't help but feel a flutter of emotions. His admission of jealousy towards Sooyeong struck a chord within me.

"I see...why didn't you just tell me instead of arguing with me?" I questioned, trying to understand his perspective.

"I know, Jongyun. I am just that stupid," he admitted, his vulnerability tugging at my heartstrings.

"What was that about me not understanding you?" I teased lightly, trying to ease the tension.

"I just assumed you'd figure eventually that I like you...but it's stupid to assume that, huh? I mean, I myself figured it out later," he confessed sheepishly.

"Gosh, Songjae," I chuckled softly, unable to contain the warmth spreading within me.

"Anyway," Songjae interrupted his narrative, stepping off the stage and approaching me. I found myself backing against a steel wardrobe, his proximity sending my heart racing.

"I don't care if Sooyeong likes you or not because I know that I do," he declared, his words sending a rush of emotions coursing through me.

As he spoke, I couldn't help but notice his scent, reminiscent of flowers, and his flawless features up close. His playful smirk only added to his charm.

"Yeah, that's the Songjae I know. Mischievous and sly," I remarked in my head with an imaginary smile floating, feeling a surge of affection towards him.

"You try what you can, boy," I challenged playfully, pulling him closer as his face flushed with embarrassment.

"Sly," he muttered, his hand hiding half his face as he tried to compose himself.

"What about Sooyeong?" he asked, his hand enveloping mine, his gaze searching mine for answers.

"I don't know-" I began, but before I could finish, a loud thud interrupted us, and we spun around to see Yunjin standing up, her inner fan-girl barely contained.

Together, we turned towards the door, where a silhouette had appeared, advancing towards us with purpose.

Sooyeong.

He stormed towards us with a fuming expression, his anger palpable in the air. Songjae instinctively stepped in front of me and Yunjin, the tension between them crackling with intensity.

Sooyeong's glare bore into Songjae, who met it with a defiant smile. The atmosphere turned icy as the two faced off, their animosity thickening the air.

"Songjae," Sooyeong began harshly, his words dripping with contempt. "Don't waltz your way into our relationship."

"What relationship are you talking about?" Songjae retorted, his tone challenging.

I intervened, gripping Songjae's arm from behind, silently urging him to calm down. He sighed, but his resolve remained unyielding.

"A relationship will start, alright. But I'm sure it's not with you," Songjae declared, his voice firm with determination.

"Songjae," I whispered, my tone pleading for him to step back, but it was too late. Sooyeong's gaze shifted to me before returning to Songjae, his words laced with bitterness.

"Then so be it. I bet I can be much better to Jongyun than you can ever be," Sooyeong spat, his eyes never leaving Songjae's.

The tension in the room reached its peak as the confrontation escalated, leaving me torn between two conflicting emotions.

The air crackled with tension as Sooyeong's words hung in the air, each syllable dripping with animosity. I felt a knot form in my stomach, torn between the two boys who stood before me, each vying for my affection in their own way.

Songjae's jaw clenched, his resolve unwavering despite Sooyeong's provocation. He stood tall, a picture of defiance, refusing to back down in the face of adversity. Beside him, Yunjin shifted uneasily, her eyes darting between the two rivals.

"Sooyeong, let's not make a scene," I interjected, hoping to diffuse the tension before it escalated further. But my words fell on deaf ears as Sooyeong's gaze remained fixed on Songjae, his expression filled with disdain.

"Jongyun, you don't have to put up with this," Sooyeong insisted, his voice laced with frustration. "I can give you everything you deserve."

I sighed inwardly, feeling the weight of their expectations pressing down on me. Caught in the middle of their rivalry, I struggled to find the right words to ease the tension.

"Guys, this isn't the time or place for this," I pleaded, my voice tinged with frustration. "Let's talk about this calmly, okay?"

But before either of them could respond, the door burst open, revealing a group of curious onlookers who had been drawn by the commotion. I didn't recognize either one of them, and looking at Songjae and Yunjin, I could tell they didn't either. They were definitely friends or at least classmates of Sooyeong. One of them took a step forward, his nameplate shining. Seojun. He rushed forward, concern etched on his face.

"What's going on here?" Seojun demanded, his eyes darting between Sooyeong and Songjae. "Why are you guys fighting?"

Sooyeong opened his mouth to respond, but before he could speak, Songjae stepped forward, his voice calm yet resolute.

"We're not fighting," Songjae explained, his tone steady despite the tension in the air. "We're just...having a disagreement."

Seojun frowned, clearly unconvinced by Songjae's explanation. "It doesn't look like just a disagreement to me," he pointed out, gesturing to the strained atmosphere in the room.

I felt a pang of guilt wash over me as I realized the extent of the chaos my indecision had caused. Unable to bear the weight of their expectations any longer, I stepped forward.

"Enough," I declared, my voice echoing through the room with a newfound resolve.

Silence descended upon the room as my words hung in the air, each of us grappling with the weight of the situation.

As I looked into the eyes of the two boys who stood before me, I knew that no matter what they had already set the challenge and there was no backing out now.
