Chapter 29
When we arrived at my condo in Manhattan, I suggested that Kally rest. She needed it. After settling her in one of the rooms the three of us went our separate ways. Santiago and Ally probably went to make out, something they do every time they were alone.
I smile. When Kally regains her memory we'll be like them, hopefully. I'll try my best to woo her. Try my best to make her realize that she's the love my life, my heart, my everything. I love her.
I walked to my kitchen and took out a bottle of my whisktakesI placed some in my glass and place it to my lips. What can I do to win her heart again? What can I do to make her fall for me and fall hard?
I start playing some scenarios in my head. Bring her to a fancy restaurant. Bring her to the movies. Buy her ice-cream, she loves ice-cream.
I smiled. I will bring her to Dairy Queen and buy her ice-cream. We bonded over ice—cream once, we can again.
I took another sip of my whiskey.
"Hola, hermanita." I noticed the voice immediately and smile. Santiago and I have gotten really close these few days. We had a few things in common and he was a good person to talk to. He made it so much easier for me to forgive Alliyah of her sins.
"Aren't you suppose to be with your fiancé making some babies," I asked. Alliyah and Santiago were obsessed with each other and that's how love is supposed to be. Santiago had confessed to me how hard it was for him when she told him about Henrique and ruining someone's marriage. His own parents' marriage was broken up because of a mistress but he realized that she was no longer that person and how much he loved her. Everyone deserves forgiveness.
"Who told you we haven't made one already?" he smirks.
I raised my brows at him. "Really? Alliyah is pregnant?"
"No, but I want her to be."
"Why?" I inquired.
"I want her to have a better experience with motherhood. This time she won't be alone, she'll have me. I'll never leave her side." He smiled.
"That's good and I'll never leave Kalliyah's side either. That's if she'll have me." I paused and took a deep breath. " What if she remembers and chooses not to forgive me."
Santiago walked closer to me and took a seat next to me. He shared a glass of whisky for himself then he took a sip and turn to me. He points the whiskey to me. "You see this whiskey. It's strong, very strong. It is as strong as the love you have for Kalliyah. Whiskey even when mixed with water is strong that's how much you love her. The water is the barrier that is between the two of you. Don't let the water take over. Stop worrying about what hasn't come as yet. She has a memory loss, she has time to adjust to the new you or should I say the changed you. I told you this before. It's not a time for you to weep about your mistakes, it a time to make them better. That's what I told Alliyah and that's why we're here to make amends."
He took a sip and smiled. "Let me tell you something. Alliyah she didn't like me, I was the annoying neighbour always borrowing sugar, which of course I never paid back and I didn't really want the sugar. I just wanted to see her but she kept pushing me away but I paid her no mind. My mind was set. I was going to make her fall for me." He laughed, "We're going to get married in a couple of months. No matter what comes in the way, show her how much you value and love her, mate. Kill her with love."
Santiago had a way of calming people down, making them feel better with words and action. I can't tell how he does it, but it's worked on me a few times.
"Enough about me. When are planning on going back to Florida?"
"I haven't set a date as yet since Alliyah wants to spend her time with sister. I'm not in any hurry either. My brothers can manage the business while I'm gone."
I nod understanding, "What about Ally, doesn't she work?" I was trying to get rid of them, I just wanted to make sure they weren't sacrificing anything to be here.
"No, she quit her job when she found out she was pregnant with Henrique and I really don't want my future wife to show off her body to anyone but me so, No, she doesn't have a job. I'm happy if she just stays home and take care of our football team that we'll be having." I laughed at his statement.
"Isn't nine kids too much?"
"My family is known to have up to 12, I'm just settling for a little less. Don't think I can take the stress that comes with twelve kids." I laughed at him.
"But, that's just three less."
"Three too many." He smiled.
"Where is that future wife of yours by the way?"
"She was tired so I made sure she went to bed early."
I wiggled my eyebrows. "I wonder what made her so tired."
He pushed my shoulders playfully. "No, chico, we are coming from the hospital. We didn't have enough time."
"It can even take five minutes." I teased.
"It takes me at least an hour to get started." he blushed, £Can we stop now,"
"Oh, you're blushing." I pinched his cheeks and he hit my hands off.
"I wonder about you. Why are most American so touchy?"
"Says the man who hugs someone every time he greets them and FYI Americans are only touchy with friends."
He smiled, "I'm glad we are friends, soon we'll be brothers."
I hesitated before replying, "If Kalliyah forgives me, yes."
He placed his hands on my shoulder, "Don't worry. I'm sure Kalliyah loves you very much. She'll forgive you."
"I treated her horribly."
"If she's anything like her sister, she'll forgive you."
"That's the thing, Kalliyah is nothing like Alliyah. She's said so herself many times."
"I say that about my brothers and I too but I know that deep down we are very much alike. Have faith, Hermano. Everything will work out okay."
I looked at the glass in my hands and consider his words wisely. Kalliyah is a forgiving person. When we first met, I wasn't the nicest person to her and she gave me. Why wouldn't she forgive me now?
Because you didn't trust her.
.....................
I looked down at our enlaced hands and smile. I couldn't help but admire her beauty, but her eyes were on the ice-cream menu which laid on the wall. We were standing in a line at Dairy Queen, I knew I could just flash my ID and we'd be out in no time but Santiago gave me some advice on what to do and what not to do. He said it was romantic to wait slowly for the ice-cream in line, it showed patience. It also showed that I don't use my status to get everything I need. I had to make a good impression on Kally.
I was so caught up in her beauty that I didn't know she was talking to me until she started waving her hands in front of my eyes.
"What?" I grimace.
"You weren't listening, were you? You were staring at me." she pushed out her lips trying to be angry.
I smiled. "Of course I was staring. I'm looking at the most beautiful woman on earth."
She smiled and hide her blushing cheeks. "Have you met all the women in the world?"
I rolled my eyes at her. "Why didn't you just accept my compliment?"
"I did." She muttered.
"No, you didn't."
She went on tippy toes and pressed her lips on my cheeks. I suddenly started to blush. The kiss wasn't intense or erotic but it was sweet especially since they were teenagers behind us watching us closely. I could hear their giggles when she pulled away.
"Did I accept your compliment now?" she asked cheekily.
I just smiled at her then tightened my grip on her hands. I looked across the line and noticed a weird man looking at Kalliyah's body. I cleared my throat and he caught my gaze. I placed my free hands around her waist to let him know that she is mine. She is mine and that means she is taken. She looked up at me with a smile. She rested her head on my shoulder while waited for the line to move.
How could I have hurt this gem?
I was such a fool for not trusting her sweet soul.
After we collect our ice-cream we decide to take it to the park. I placed a blanket that was in my car and placed it on the grass. It was like a mini-picnic instead it was with ice-cream.
Kalliyah and I were sitting side by side. We were looking at the pigeons who were walking about their business.
"They're so cute." She said before licking her ice-cream again. I looked at how she handled it. I know it was wrong but I couldn't help myself from getting erect. What she was doing to the ice-cream looked very tempting. Maybe even too tempting. I mentally kicked myself and started to look at her eyes instead of her wonderful lips.
"They're pigeons," I stated.
"I know that. I've lost my memory, not my common sense." She snarled at me.
I roll my eyes at her.
"You roll your eyes a lot, don't you? " She asked amused.
I smiled. I lick my ice-cream. "I got that from you. I've spent too much time with you."
"Me? I have not rolled my eyes once."
"Well maybe not now but before the accident, you rolled your eyes every day."
"Haha, whatever." She growled and rolled her eyes then place the ice-cream in her mouth.
I smiled and did the same.
We sat there and ate in silence but not an awkward one until she pointed to my face and started to laugh she was holding her belly. Aye, that's my style.
"Why are you laughing?" I questioned.
"You eat ice-cream like a child, how old are you?" she said between laughs.
I brought my hands to my cheeks which had ice-cream on it.
Okay, I had no idea that was there.
I started to wipe it off.
"You're not doing it well." she then brought her soft hand to my face which made me tremble. She wiped off the ice cream off my face and smile. "There, all clean."
"Thanks, but I would have preferred if you licked it off just like how you ate yours," I smirked.
She used the same hands and hit me in the head.
"Wow, that hurt. Do you want our kids to be deformed?" I joked playfully.
"No," she said seriously. "But I wouldn't mind. Any child I have whether healthy or not I will love him or her with all I have."
"Me too. I don't care either. All I care is that you're the mother. I love you."
She smiled.
Silence.
It hurt not having her reply to my confession but I didn't expect her to anyways. She didn't remember our previous relationship.
"How old are you?" she asked out of the blue.
"I'm thirty. Why do you ask?"
"Oh nothing, I just remembered when Ally told me my age. I was curious about yours."
"Oh, well nothing to be curious about. I'm yours no matter my age or yours. After all, we are adults. Old enough to even have a baby."
"What did you just say."
"Oh, nothing." I cajoled looking at the pigeons.
God, I love this woman.
