THE MOMENT

Alex Hughes held tightly onto the bouquet of flowers, her hands were clasped tightly as she stood behind her best friend.

"Here we go," Alex says and she holds the bouquet of white lilies out towards Hannah.

"Good luck," Freya says and Alex smiles.

Freya and Kayleigh walk up the aisle first as the bridesmaids and Alex stands behind Hannah and sorts the bottom of the dress.

"You look gorgeous," Alex smiles to Hannah and Hannah puts her arms round her best friend.

"So do you, now take Nate and get up that aisle," Hannah chuckles and Alex nods. She flickers her hair over her shoulder and grabs Nathan's hand. Nathan was to be the ring boy.

"You remember the steps?" Alex asks and Nathan nods.

In synchronisation they walk up the aisle, Alex wearing a baby pink dress that wasn't typically what she would go for- but it was the choice of the bride. Alex smiled at JJ- the groom and then towards Simon who was best man. The other Sidemen boys were all groomsmen and they were sat down already.

Alex and Nathan sit down on the front row with Kayleigh and Freya who wore the same colour as Alex just a different dress.

Eventually the music begins and everyone rises from their seats as Hannah and her father walk down the aisle.

JJ looks round eventually and he grins, his eyes glistening with tears as his wife to be approaches in her figure hugging white gown. She looked amazing.

The crowd take their seats and the ceremony begins. Nathan does his part with the rings and the vows are soon shared. They are pronounced husband and wife causing everyone to cheer.

The ceremony was over and the photographer got to work taking countless photos of the newly weds. Of course, Alex and Nathan were included in a lot of photos purely because they had such important roles at the wedding and because JJ and Hannah requested it.

Eventually everyone made their way to the reception venue where Alex checked in with the hotel next door with Nathan as the wedding was of course, in London.

Afterwards the meals were eaten and the first dance happened and then the night was soon in full swing. Alex danced around with Nathan for most of the night, her feet were starting to ache but she kept dancing.

After a little while Nathan went to sit down and Kayleigh, Freya, Sarah and Emily called over Alex to their little dancing group.

"Hey guys," Alex smiles and all the girls grin back.

"We wanted to ask you how you were and everything?" Sarah asks and Alex shrugs softly.

"I'm good, thank you," Alex replies and Freya looks over her shoulder at Josh.

"One second, Josh is calling me over," Freya says and she quickly heads over to him and Alex turns to the other girls.

"So, you and Simon?" Emily asks and Alex, again, shrugs.

"I don't really know whats going on between us right now," Alex says and the girls all just nod.

"Alex?!" She hears and she spins round to see Hannah.

"Be right back guys," Alex says and she travels across the dance floor towards Hannah.

"You okay?" Hannah asks her and Alex nods.

"Of course...I'm going...I'm going to miss you when you move to London," Alex says and Hannah smiles softly.

"You should come to London too! Bring Nathan of course, there is nothing holding you to that shitty seaside town anymore babe," Hannah says and Alex shakes her head.

"I can't- I just can't leave," Alex says and JJ turns to them both.

"You can though, you always said London was your dream? And with your skill in cooking you could land a job in and restaurant- plus I'm sure Nathan would love to be around his father more," JJ says and Alex just looks at her feet.

"I just can't, you wouldn't understand," Alex says and she turns around and walks towards Nathan. He had fallen asleep across two chairs and looked quite peaceful. Alex sits in the seat beside him and takes the bottle of wine sat in the ice bucket and pours herself a glass. She takes a gulp of the wine, looking around.

Simon Minter, who was dancing with Freezy and Harry, looked over towards Alex, seeing her sitting with a sleeping Nathan, a glass of white wine in her hand.

"I'm getting a bit tired, I'm just gonna' go sit down," Simon says and Harry and Cal nod.

Simon walks towards Alex and offers her a smile.

"Hey," Simon says, sliding onto the seat beside her.

"Hey," She replies and Simon smiles a little wider.

"How are you?" Simon asks.

"I would be feeling better if JJ and Hannah didn't keep trying to convince me to move to London," Alex breathes out deeply, eyes glancing over Nathan, "We've lived in Eastbourne all our lives, and we've loved every second of it, but...I can't just tear Nathan away from there, forcing him to leave his friends and everything,"

"I understand...I would be nice if you could move to London, but if you don't want to, Alex, no one has the right to force you," Simon says and Alex nods.

"I would love to, you know its my dream, it always has been...But I just can't," Alex says and Simon nods.

He takes her spare hand in his and gives her a heartwarming smile.

"Listen, I'm always going to be here for you, and if you need me, I'm here, okay?" Simon says and Alex nods.

"Thank you," Alex says and Simon moves closer to her, she looks into his eyes before pressing a kiss to his lips.

"Whats going on?" They hear and they pull apart to see a yawning Nathan.

"Nothing," Simon says and Nathan looks at them both.

"You were kissing...Weren't you?" Nathan asks, rubbing his eyes.

"No-"

"Yes-"

Simon and Alex share a glance and Alex turns round to her son.

"Nathan, me and your daddy...We're...We're together now," Alex says, smiling a little.

Simon nods towards Nathan when he looks at him and a smile quickly makes its way onto Nathan's face.

"Does that mean daddy is moving in with us?" Nathan claps and Alex looks down.

"Not exactly sweetie, Si- I mean daddy, can't leave his work behind," Alex replies and Nathan sighs.

"Can't we move to London mommy?" He asks and Alex takes his hands.

"We can only move to London if you really, really want to, I don't want you to leave your friends behind and be upset," Alex says and Nathan shakes his head.

"I'll be okay mommy, I promise...But Jenny..." Nathan says and Alex puts a hand on her sons cheek.

"We'll work something out, okay? You can go and visit Jenny when we can okay?" Alex says and Nathan nods with a smile.

"I'm going to take you to bed now," Alex tells Nathan and the little boy yawns again.

"I'll carry him up," Simon says and he gets up and picks Nathan up, Resting him on his hip.

"Thanks Simon," Alex says and Alex quickly does a round of short goodbyes before walking beside Simon out of the venue. They head outside into the cold London night and then next door to the hotel.

Alex leads them up to their room which housed two single beds. Simon settles Nathan onto the bed and Nathan wakes up a little.

"Why don't you get some pyjamas on Nathan?" Simon says and Nathan nods, getting his pyjamas and changing in the bathroom where he also quickly brushes his teeth.

Nathan then comes back and climbs into bed, his arms hugging his teddy bear.

"Goodnight son," Simon says and he plants a kiss on his forehead.

"Goodnight daddy," Nathan replies before closing his eyes and burrowing down under his covers.

Alex smiles softly, still in her dress and Simon turns round and smiles at her.

"Goodnight Alex," Simon says, walking over to the door.

"Goodnight Simon," Alex says, planting a kiss on his lips before he leaves to return to the party. Alex goes into the bathroom and wipes off her makeup and brushes her teeth. She changes into some pyjamas of her own before retiring to bed. She turns on the TV and quietly watches some boring show before eventually, sleep consumes her.
