THE MOMENT

It had been 2 weeks since Alex and Nathan made the move to London. They now lived in a proper house with three bedrooms, a garage and a garden- Nathan loved it. He loved his garden and he loved the fact they had a garage even if they didn't have a car. He hadn't started his new school yet as there was no real point, the summer holidays were about to begin. Nathan missed his school friends deeply, Jenny in particular. Nathan promised he'd see her soon, because he'd be going back to Eastbourne regularly to see his grandmother with Alex.

Alex and Simon were now officially dating, and after all the shit that happened with Katie, the majority of his fans were happy for him, though some of them were still jealous that Simon was in a relationship. Of course, fans never really got over the idea of Simon Minter having a six year old son but most loved him like they had before. Others despised him because of his so called mistake and they stopped tweeting him and watching his videos. However, most fans greeted Alex and Nathan to the fandom- Alex even gathered a small following on twitter. Fans would ask her questions about Simon or Nathan or even some of the other Sidemen, she enjoyed it.

Alex had also landed herself a new job, working as a chef in a pretty fancy restaurant about 20 minutes away from her new house. Alex loved London already. She had finally achieved her dreams. She was working as a chef in the capital of England, her son went to a good school and she was dating the love of her life. It sounded too good to be true. Sometimes Alex pinched herself to check if she was still awake and not just dreaming. But it was real.

"Mommy?" She hears, breaking her out of her thoughts.

"You okay sweetie?" Alex asks, glancing at Nathan.

"I was wondering...If you and daddy are together why doesn't he live here?" Nathan asks and Alex gives her son a small smile.

"Your father works late at night, and he wouldn't want to keep you up. And he lives with the people he works with darling, its important that he does so, otherwise it'd be more difficult for him," Alex explains and Nathan just sighs.

"Alright," Nathan says and Alex glances at her watch.

"Fancy going to the park?" Alex suggests and Nathan grins, "Go get your shoes on then,"

It was the summer holidays now, and the weather had been good to the British people for once, offering them boiling hot days and humid nights. Alex pulled on a light jacket and then slipped into her Vans. Nathan put on his shoes and then he and Alex headed outside.

Alex locked up and then took hold of her sons hand. They smiled to each other before they walked about 10 minutes to get to the park. Once there Alex watched as Nathan ran straight to the kids play area. She sat down on a bench and smiled as Nathan started chatting to the other children.

Her phone beeped in her pocket and she retrieved it quickly.

from Simon:
fancy coming over tonight?

to Simon:
sure, i'll be around with Nathan at 5?

from Simon:
great, can't wait xx
love you x

to Simon:
love you too xx

Alex smiled softly before lifting her eyes and seeing Nathan walking towards her. She smiles at her son as he sits down on the bench beside her and rests his head against her arm.

"You okay little one?" She asks softly and he nods.

"I just wanted to sit down, its really warm," Nathan says, and Alex nods, agreeing.

"We're going to see your dad tonight," Alex says, "And obviously his friends,"

"Yay!" Nathan grins, clapping as he does so.

Alex chuckles, before pulling Nathan in for a hug.

"I love you," Alex says and Nathan smiles.

"I love you too mommy," He replies.

The two of them spend some time talking about how excited Nathan is to start at a new school and also how excited he is to spend more time with his dad. Of course, Alex was excited too, her new job would give her more money than her job back in Eastbourne did and now she had Simon around to look after Nathan when she worked. Simon and the rest of the boys lived around 30 minutes away, which wasn't too bad, Alex and Nathan walking would probably take 50 minutes to get there, but Alex knew she could rely on Simon to drive down and pick them up if she needed him to.

"I think we should get going if you want to see your dad," Alex says, checking her watch.

Nathan smiles and gets up, taking his mothers hand and off they go, walking towards Simon's house. As they walk Alex sees two youngish girls talking and glancing over to Alex. She wonders if they're talking about her when suddenly they both cross the road and walk towards her and Nathan.

"Are you Alex Hughes?" The one girl asks and Alex nods.

"Thats..Thats me," Alex says, slightly confused.

"Oh my god, we follow you on twitter and we love you so much, honestly you and Simon are so cute...Wait is this Nathan?" The second girl speaks almost too quickly for Alex to comprehend.

"Yeah...Yeah this is Nathan, my son," Alex says and Nathan squeezes his mothers hand as he attempts to hide behind her leg, "He's a little shy,"

"He's adorable, and he looks so much like Simon!" The first girl comments, the second nods in agreement.

"Do you mind if we have a photo with you, Alex?" The second asks.

"Oh...Urm...Sure," Alex says and she takes her hand away from Nathan and stands between the two girls and allows them to have a selfie with her.

"Thank you so, so much, it means a lot to us! You're so kind and sweet and Nathan is adorable," The girl smiles and Alex smiles back.

"Its no problem, thanks for following me and everything," Alex says and the two girls say goodbye to both her and Nathan before heading on their way.

"That was...weird," Nathan comments as he takes his mothers hand again.

"I agree," Alex nods before starting to walk again.

They reach the house about 10 minutes late and when they get inside Nathan explains the whole event to Simon, Josh, Vik and JJ who were all sat in the kitchen.

"So you got stopped by fans?" Josh asks Alex after Nathan is done talking and is off playing football with Simon in the back garden.

"Yeah, it was such a weird experience...You know, people recognising me, on the street, I mean it must be a regular occurrence for you guys by now, but it was just...odd," Alex explains and Josh nods.

"It is a first, I'm sure you'll get used to it, miss popular," Josh laughs and Alex rolls her eyes with a smile.

"Two people recognising me means nothing, Joshua," She says before following the older boy into the garden where everyone else was.

JJ and Simon were playing football with Nathan and Vik was sat down on the grass, he was tweeting a photo of Simon, JJ and Nathan playing.

Alex and Josh joined Vik on the grass, attempting to soak up the last of the days sun. Eventually Nathan got tired, just after the sun had set and Simon picked him up and carried him inside, taking him up to bed in the spare room that had basically become Nathan's bedroom for when he stayed there. Afterwards, everyone decided to chill in the living room, having a few bottles of beer, or in Alex's case, glasses of wine.

"So, how're you liking London life?" Vik asks Alex and she shrugs.

"I like it, I'm just nervous still, for working here and for Nathan going to school, but thats not till September, but I start work next week and its daunting on me how much more professional the establishment is and everything," Alex explains.

"Don't worry, you're a great chef! You're gonna' be fucking amazing," JJ comments and Alex smiles at him.

"Thanks JJ," She says and Josh smiles.

"You should move in and cook for us," Josh jokes and the others laugh too.

"How's YouTube and everything? Is the shop still good?" Alex enquires.

"Its good, I mean, we're always busy, like this weekend we have a meet up in London which should be fun and the shop is constantly selling out which is crazy as hell," Josh replies and Alex nods.

"You guys have a meet up this weekend?" Alex asks and Josh nods.

"Yeah, its gonna' be fun but its so tiring," Josh says and Alex smiles.

"I'm so proud of you all," Alex says, "You're all so amazing for doing what you do, and for sticking with it,"

"Thank you," The boys all say in unison causing them all to laugh.

Soon enough, after a lot of talking and a few drinks they all retire to their rooms, Alex going to bed with Simon. The two of them snuggle together under the sheets, Alex's head resting on Simon's chest. Their hearts beating as one.
