THE MIRACLE

Two Months Later...

Alex looked up at the clock on the wall, her hair was pinned up my clips on the top of her head and the only thing she wore was a robe- today she would be attending a party, right here in Eastbourne to celebrate the engagement of Hannah and JJ- surprisingly they'd seemed to have swooped right under everyones radar with their relationship and now they were actually engaged, after only a few months of even knowing each other existed. 

Alex was pleased for her friend of course, but she wondered just how long it would all last. Her eyes scanned the clock again, soon she would have to stop time wasting and she would actually have to get ready. Just as Alex was about to stand up the doorbell rings. She looks at the clock again, she wasn't late or anything? Maybe it was her parents, maybe Nathan had forgotten something when he left with his grandparents earlier. Alex heads downstairs, opening the door. Her lips part and her eyes widen when she sees the man at the door. 

"What're you doing here?" She asks, the air catching in her throat. 

"Came by to say hi before the party," He says, he was wearing a smart suit, though his tie was undone and hung round his neck like a loose scrap of fabric. 

"Come in...I guess," She says, stepping aside and allowing the tall, blonde male to walk into her home. She closes the door and leads the way upstairs. 

"Aren't you ready for the party yet? I mean, Hannah is your best friend, I would have thought you'd already be there by now," He says and Alex turns to face him. 

"I just, I don't know, okay? I just don't know about this engagement, I mean, I don't want Hannah to fuck up like...Like...Never mind," Alex says. 

"What? Like I fucked up with Katie? You can say it, I fucked up with her...Now she's off fucking someone else, and surprisingly it wasn't a model, it was her manager, whos like 10 years older than her, and he's got grey hair and all...And she's fucking pregnant with a baby boy, and its not mine, because whenever I tried to instigate anything, she'd brush me off...She was fucking him, and I think I knew, I think I always knew, but I just didn't want to believe it until I saw it with my own eyes, until I walked into my bedroom and saw them rolling around in my bed- where I sleep at night," He rants and Alex looks on nervously, her eyes scanning his face for emotion, but there was nothing. 

"Do you want a drink?" She can barely speak. 

"Got anything alcoholic?" 

"I've got wine or vodka," She shrugs and Simon chuckles. 

"Vodka sounds good enough for me," He says and Alex nods. She reaches into the cupboard and pulls out the bottle of vodka before unscrewing the lid and pouring out some into some glasses. 

"Thanks," Simon says, taking the glass from her. 

"So, no Joe tonight?" Simon asks, glancing round the apartment. 

"Me and Joe? Ha, thats old news, he broke up with me. It was mutual thing though, he told me he couldn't wait anymore, even though he promised he would, but hey, I'm not upset or disappointed...I think it was just for an experience, you know having a cute boy like him fumble around the sheets with me, he was sweet, didn't like it rough you know," Alex says, looking over the glass as she gulps back the burning liquid. 

"Right, he wasn't rough like me? Did you prefer a soft guy like him, hmm?" Simon asks and Alex shrugs. 

"I'd say he's definitely better than you ever were," Alex says, placing the glass down on the counter and sliding it towards Simon, "I'm going to get ready," 

"Go ahead," Simon says before knocking back the rest of his vodka. 

Alex changes into a black dress, it looks gorgeous, she looks gorgeous and when she's finished with her hair, it just puts the cherry on top. She slips into a pair of black peep toe shoes and she grabs her bag, heading out into the living room. 

"So, is your bitch ass coming?" She says, her hand resting on her hip. 

Simon turns round, looking at the girl behind him, his eyes scan her up and down, taking in every detail of her beauty, like this is the last time he will ever see her. 

"Yeah, lets go," He says and he picks up his phone off the counter and leads the way downstairs. 

Alex shrugs on a black leather jacket before following Simon outside. She locks up and then walks side by side with him towards the hotel where the party would be taking place. 

Simon watches Alex closely, still taking in the elegance she carried with her, and the pride she had as she held her head high. 

"You look beautiful by the way," Simon says and Alex smiles softly to herself. 

"Thanks," She says before pushing open the door to the hotel. Simon leads her into the large function room where the party already seemed to have started. 

Hannah and JJ were dancing of course, swaying to the music that blared out of the speakers. 

"Out of all of your friends I never thought JJ would be getting married first, after you of course, though you marriage is already in the middle of a divorce," Alex comments and Simon smiles a little. 

"You were never one to sugar coat things, were you?" Simon asks and Alex shrugs. 

"I'd be lying if I told you the marriage was a success," Alex says and Simon chuckles. 

"Who will you be sitting with tonight?" Simon asks, his voice raised slightly due to a louder song playing. 

"I don't know yet, I was going to go ask Hannah," Alex says and Simon's eyes look round, he sees his friends all sat together, laughing. 

"Come sit with me," He says and Alex looks up into his eyes. 

"Just you? Or your friends too?" Alex asks, nodding her head towards the group that were laughing loudly. 

"With them too," Simon adds and Alex nods. 

"Sure," She says before following Simon over to the group. 

"Oh, Alex, hey!" Vik says when he sees her, he was holding a cranberry juice cocktail in his hands and it had two straws coming out of it. 

"Hey Vik, how are you?" Alex asks and Vik smiles, he was ever so slightly drunk, his eyelids were heavy and he looked like he might fall asleep standing up. 

"I'm fine, I'm great," Vik says and Alex smiles and turns to see Josh. 

"Hi Josh, how're you?" Alex smiles and Josh smiles back.

"I'm good, how're you?" Josh asks over the loud music, he held a beer bottle in his hands.

"I'm okay," Alex says and Josh smiles.

"You look very pretty," He says and suddenly a girl as Josh's side. 

"Wow, I love the dress," She grins and Alex returns the smile. 

"You look amazing, you must be Freya, Josh's girlfriend?" Alex says and the blonde haired woman nods. 

"Thats me, you must be Alex?" Freya asks and Alex nods. 

"Thats me, the one and only," Alex jokes and Freya laughs. 

"It was a pleasure to meet you," Freya says before becoming distracted by something Cal was saying behind her. 

"Alex?" She hears, making her turn to see Hannah. 

"Hey!" She says and Hannah walks forwards and hugs her best friend. 

"You're here finally!" Hannah grins and Alex smiles softly. 

"I'm glad I could make it," Alex says and she looks to see JJ speaking to Simon, "I'm happy for you, I'm happy for both of you," 

"Thanks Alex, it means a lot that you're here, and that you're still here, after all these years," 

"I'm always going to be here, Han, you're my best fucking friend," Alex says and Hannah pulls her back into a tight hug. 

JJ hugged Alex then and thanked her for coming and for being so supportive of them both over the last few months. 

"I'm glad I could be here," Alex repeats and JJ calls over Simon.

"So, we have something to ask you both?" JJ says and Alex glances at Simon and back. 

"Okay?" Simon says and Alex smiles softly. 

"We want you to be maid of honour and best man," Hannah says, clapping after her statement. 

"I'd...I'd be honoured," Alex smiles and Simon grins. 

"Of course man," Simon says, giving JJ a manly hug. 

"I'm always here okay? I'm always here," Hannah says into Alex's ear. 

"And I'm always going to be here for you," Alex says and Hannah smiles. 

"Thank you," Hannah says and she pulls Alex, JJ and Simon towards the dance floor to really start the party.
