THE MIRACLE

Alex had taken Nathan's hand as they stepped off the train. Simon said he would be awaiting their arrival. Alex was nervous to say the least. She had always dreamed of visiting London, and here she was, finally here.

Alex marvelled at the city when they got into Simon's car. Of course she was happy to see Simon, but seeing the city that filled her childhood dreams was more important to her today.

Nathan sat in the back playing with his Star Wars toys, while Alex practically had her head out the window looking at the iconic landmarks.

Simon drove out of London city, smiling at Alex's interest. They arrived at the Sidemen house and Nathan immediately ran inside to find the boys. Alex and Simon followed, Alex was riddled with nerves, her heart thudding under her ribcage.

"This must be Alex?" Asks the bearded man, before shaking her hand.

"I'm Josh," He says, before being distracted by Nathan.

"I'm Vik," Says a man who was shorter than Alex, but by all means he was handsome.

"Alex," She greets, shaking his hand.

"And finally, I'm JJ," says the final man, a grin on his face as Alex shakes his hand.

"Alex," She says and he nods smiling.

"Pleasure to meet you," He says, his eyes glistening.

Simon smiles and looks at Alex.

"See, it wasn't that bad was it?" He asks, the boys look confused, "She was nervous to meet you all,"

"Awh, theres no need to be nervous," Josh says and Alex smiles softly.

Simon's phone rings in his pocket, so he takes it out and answers.

"Katie! Hey, how's Thailand?" He asks and Alex raises an eyebrow.

"Thailand?" She asks no one in particular and Josh nods.

"Katie is away doing modelling work in Thailand," Josh explains, "Personally I don't see the appeal but apparently some do,"

"Oooo, burn," Vik laughs and JJ chuckles heartily.

"Do you often speak like that about his fiancé?" Alex asks, a half smile on her lips.

"Not to his face," JJ says and Alex's smile widens.

"I feel like we're going to be very, very good friends," Alex says and the boys all look at each other with wide smiles.

Josh was of course, less sure about the idea of forming a friendship on the disliking of someone else, but even he- who had suggested Katie was the better option for Simon- had to agree that Katie wasn't the nicest person on the planet.

Josh looked at Nathan who was currently chatting away to Vik about Minecraft, maybe the right choice for Simon was whatever was best for his son.

Simon finally returned from his call and he smiled weakly.

"Whats up?" JJ asks and Simon shakes his head.

"She's staying in Thailand for an extra 4 days," Simon says and Vik looks away and back.

"She's been away a lot recently, maybe when you two get married you should ask her to stop dashing about so much and to actually spend more than a day with you," Vik bursts and Simon's mouth falls open, like he's about to counter Vik's argument, but nothing comes.

"I'm going to take Nate to the park, anyone want to join us?" Simon asks and Nathan grins, taking his fathers hand.

"I'll stay here, I'll let you two spend some time alone," Alex says and Simon nods before opening the door and leading Nathan outside.

When they're gone JJ bursts into laughter.

"Did you see his face?!" JJ giggles uncontrollably.

"That was brilliant Vik," Josh says, finding it hard to contain his laugh.

"It had to be said!" Vik says, holding his hands up in an 'innocent' kind of pose.

"Alright, alright, don't give Simon such a hard time boys," Alex says, her grin still plastered on her face.

"So, you've been Simon's friend for years huh? Got anything good we can take the piss out of him about?" JJ asks, leading them all into the living room to sit down.

"Not off the top of my head, but I'll make sure to think on it," Alex smiles at him and JJ smiles back.

"So are you all YouTubers like Simon?" Alex ponders aloud and the boys all nod.

"Yeah, we're all part of this group, The Sidemen," Vik says and Alex looks at them, perplexed.

"Well clearly we're not popular where you live," JJ says and Alex shakes her head.

"I only know you through Hannah, she googled you guys when she worked out that Simon was a member of this group thing you guys have," Alex says and they all nod, "Hannah actually has a bit of a thing for you, JJ,"

"Oh, really?" JJ asks, a smug smirk on his face.

Alex just chuckles, before looking at Josh.

"So, what makes you guys dislike Katie so much?" She questions curiously, causing them all to look at each other.

"Simon was head over heels for her when they first started dating, like way too in over his head. We noticed that Katie had tendencies to blow him off when he offered to take her on dates and stuff. See she's a model, so she has to do model events and shit often, but we noticed that a lot of her friendships are with other men...And not to sound like I'm trying to blame her for anything bad, but they're flirty guys, you know? And I'm not sure if Simon can handle having to share a wife with all these male friends she has," Vik explains and Alex breathes in deeply.

"So, do you think she's cheating on him?" Alex asks and JJ nods.

"Yes, if she hasn't she's one of the most loyal girls I've ever seen, 'cause no offence to Simon, he's a good looking guy and all, but these guys, these guys are models, they're put on posters all over the world, you know?" JJ says and Alex nods.

She wondered if any of them knew about Simon and her, about their little escapade a few weeks ago.

"But obviously we know about Simon's little trip to see you," JJ says.

Alex feels the lump in her throat, her eyes can't bare to look at any of them.

"Are you okay?" Josh asks, seeing her fingers fumbling.

"Yeah, of course," She asks, her voice failing her slightly.

"Are you sure?" Vik asks, looking for a definite, reassuring answer.

She looks up at them all and nods.

"Of course," She says, her voice filled with a new found confidence.

"I'll show you to your room," Josh offers and Alex nods and follows him, grabbing her overnight bag.

Alex and Nathan would have to share a room, but neither of them minded.

"Simon told me," Josh says as he closes the bedroom door behind him.

"Told you what exactly?" Alex asks, attempting to play dumb.

"About what happened when he visited you, about you sleeping with him," Josh says and Alex breathes out, her shoulders slumping.

"I guessed he'd told at least one of you," Alex says and Josh nods.

"I want you to know that all I want for Simon is his happiness. And I know you make him happy, I'm not totally sure in what way anymore, but you're his friend to say the least. I won't tell Katie, you have my word," Josh says and Alex finally turns to look at him, directly in the eyes.

"Thank you," She says and Josh nods.

"Before I leave you to your thoughts, I'd like to warn you. Dancing with the devil will only get you burnt, beware of Simon, he's a tricky person, and you may have known him 6 years ago, but I know him now, and he's not the same person you knew 6 years ago," Josh says and Alex just looks away.

Josh gives her a final nod before heading out of the room, closing the door behind him.

Alex falls back onto the bed, her mind whirling with thoughts. She needed sleep, and sleep is what she got.
