The wind gnawed at my brown fur. The meadow shone in a bright green. The sun was shining warming down to the ground.
In front of me lay seven different stones. Evolutionary stones.
Carefully placed at the same intervals, they lay in a row. My twin sister and I look expectantly at the individual stones.
Today was the day. We would finally evolve. Besides, our parents had waiting with our names to give it to us for evolution.
I knew from my sister that she really wanted to become a Leafeon. She loved nature, even had her own flower bed. With her hazel eyes, she looks at the broken piece of a moss rock.
I was still unsure which evolution was the best for me. For weeks I had broken my head about it, but I came to no decision.
"It's time," our mother announced proudly. She was a Sylveon and had often boasted that she made a evolution without a stone. I knew there was no stone for this evolution. "You may now choose a stone and thus a evolution", - she pointed to my sister with one of her white-pink antennae -, "You start."
The addressed nodded knowingly. Without hesitation, she touched the Evolutionary stone. Bright light surrounded she and I was forced to pinch my eyes. In front of me was no small, playful Eevee more, but a real Leafeon.
Now it was my turn. I let my gaze glide over the stone row several times. Unlike my sister, I did not have such a free choice. My parents wanted me to become an Vaporeon. Every single hair in my fur was against it. I hated water, they knew that.
My mother's look changed from being proudly annoyed as I hesitated with my evolution.
I quickly went through my individual options in my head.
I could not become Leafeon, because it was already my sister.
I also did not want to be Glaceon, it just did not suit me.
I was also not very enthusiastic about Espeon.
Umbreon did not suit me either, I did not like the night very much.
I exclaimed Jolteon, too. My dad once told me that they were particularly energetic. That's why I did not like this option either.
And we did not even have to talk about Vaporeon.
The Fire Stone sparkled at me. I completely forgot about this evolution. Flareon suited me quite well. Nothing flashy and also the character was very similar to me.
But I knew that if I went straight to Fire Stone, Sylveon would throw it away mercilessly.
I took a deep breath, then took a step towards the Water Stone. My paw moved slowly to the stone. In a flash, I changed direction, touched the Fire Stone and now also surrounded me bright light.
When I could see clearly again, I had red-orange fur. Now I was a Flareon.
There followed a scream. My mother came to me in rage.
"What do you think what you are doing there?" She hissed at my face. "I thought your father and I had made it clear! You should become an Vaporeon! A graceful water Pokémon, no fluffy ball! ou could have become something out of you! But no, of course you have to oppose your parents!"
Anxiously, I backed away a bit.
"I'm s-sorry..."
"Shut up! "The Sylveon snapped." You're a mistake! You have always been a mistake! You should never have been born! Go to hell! Oh, by the way, you're called 'mistake' from today! And now finally get out!"
Completely shocked I ran away. Just far away.
The wind, which used to feel so comfortable on the skin, really tore at my fur.
The meadow, which had looked so radiant green, was now dark.
The sun was obscured by dark clouds. I felt unwell.
Was it wrong to decide myself? Or was it just selfish of me to act independently, to own my own will? Did I make a mistake?
Meanwhile, I had reached the end of the meadow huge and ran on, into a forest. It was not long before a unknown Pokémon jumped in my way.
"I've never seen you here before ... Who are you?" It asked me, head cocked.
I said nothing, but the answer burned in my head, without letting go: Mistake.
