Everybody has their own opinion. We need to respect each other's opinions, not bash them.
This chapter is in Kathleen's point of view.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Three months have passed since my reunion with Wylan, and today was the last day before the Wedding and Crowning Ceremony for The Kingdom of Spades.
The Wedding Ceremony was to take place before the coronation in Spades' largest and oldest church - Lumericht Church.
Lumericht Church was built during the early days, a few years after the establishing of The Kingdom of Spades. It was built by Roderich Vandracht, first King of Spades.
The Church was made with the finest clay and stone; built on a cliff overlooking the capital of the Kingdom - Winchten, and a small part of the sea. It was named Lumenricht, because of how he sunrise looked like, when one would watch it from the cliff. The name "Lumenricht" was a combination of 'lumen' which meant "light", and 'richt' which was a combination of the last names of Roderich and his wife, Florainne Rithwald, first Queen of Spades.
Of course, this historical venue wasn't complete without its share of rumours and legends.
After all, what's a historical venue without it's share of gossip?
There were indeed quite a number of rumours and legends about this church, but nobody has ever gotten proof to confirm their claims. There were people who tried to find out, an people who didn't. Unfortunately for those who tried to find out the secrets of Lumenricht Church, they would go somewhere so far that it would be impossible to turn back to where they started. Of course, the Royals were the exception of this. They were allowed to know about the secrets of Lumenricht Church, but they must vow to keep what was in the Church, to stay in the Church.
We were at the Church earlier, to check on the preparations. When I looked at the Church, all I could say was that Lumenricht Church on the outside and inside looked majestic. White and baby blue banners and streamers were almost everywhere, elegantly hung from the ceilings and walls; pure white carnations and baby blue forget-me-nots adorned the altar and the seats, each carefully designed to fit a Wedding and Coronation Ceremony. White carnations and Hydrangeas formed an arch over the altar, adorned with little white lanterns.
It was beautiful.
We couldn't stay any longer, since we had to go back to the castle for the fitting of the gowns and suits. I hated to go back - I wanted to admire more of the beautifully decorated Church. But most of all, to admire and thank the people who helped in preparing this marvellous sight. But unfortunately, we had to go back to the castle. I said a short 'thank you' to the people decorating, and a 'goodbye' before turning around and walking towards the carriage.
We were in the middle of fitting the gown I would wear for the Wedding Ceremony and Crowning Ceremony when I suddenly thought about what happened before I was finally going to be crowned.
In the duration of the three months in which passed by, there was quite a bunch of surprising events which happened, as well as memorable moments, and other. One of the surprising events, was the first time that Wylan visited the Kingdom to see me.
It was a quiet morning, when suddenly the guards announced Wylan's unexpected arrival. I was shocked, of course.
How could he just arrive without telling me first, about visiting? Does the Queen know? Or does the King know? Who knew that Wylan was arriving?
I sighed. Yes, I remember quite distinctly - the fact that this wanker loves to arrive unexpectedly, at the most unexpected moments. I massaged my temples - an effort the ease the headache slowly creeping.
"Good morning, Kath! How are you?" Wylan nearly hollered after entering the room and seeing my face. The other royals stared at me, as if they expected me to do something about it. The current King and Queen looked strangely at my face, as if waiting for a reaction.
I grit my teeth in attempt to conceal the embarrassment and rage I felt. I forced an over exaggerated smile at him and greeted him back, "Good morning to thee, Mr. Franklin." I stared into Wylan's eyes and glared slightly, "May I have a word with you, outside?" I asked in a harsh whisper. I yanked Wylan's collar down as discreetly I could, and turned to force another smile at the other royals. "Please excuse us," I whispered politely - just enough for them to hear, before dragging Wylan by the collar towards the door to a secluded room.
I opened the door and shoved Wylan inside and went in, locking the door behind me. I looked up to him and glared, "Why are you here?" I demanded. Wylan put his hands up in surrender, "Hey, I was invited!". I narrowed my eyes.
"Who invited you?" I asked, still holding my glare. Wylan grinned and replied, "The King and the Queen." I gripped his collar harder. "Then why didn't they tell me about it?" I hissed. Wylan's grin widened and he said, "Because it was supposed to be a surprise!"
It took me about three seconds to process what he just said. And when I finally processed everything, my eyes widened and I let go of his collar. "Surprise...?" I asked, not sure of my statement. "Yep! Aren't you happy?" Wylan grabbed both my hands and held them tightly. I looked at the ground and blushed at the intimate gesture. "Uhm...uh..I...I-I'm not s-sure..." I stuttered helplessly, like some teenage girl who just confessed.
'Don't let yourself act like this, Kathleen! You are better than that!'
I quickly gathered my composure. I was about to speak when a certain voice interrupted.
"What are you two doing here?" A voice too well known rang throughout the empty hallway, echoing slightly. The voice was strong, demanding and commanding. It gave the sense of power. I turned around and sighed.
"What is it now, Arthur?"
Arthur was leaning on the doorway, his arms crossed in an angry manner. "Oh, it's nothing. Why don't you go on ahead? I'll be the one to give Wylan here, a scolding."
I eyed him carefully before agreeing to his offer. "Fine." I sighed out, before walking towards the door and going back to the King and Queen. It was strange of Arthur to offer me something like that; he rarely does 'little favors' - as he likes to call it.
Unfortunately, rest of day was hectic - but Wylan's visit did help. Wylan always supported her decisions, when he thought it was a good thing for both of us.
That was one of the reasons that I became bestfriends with him when we were young.
Somehow, Arthur was seemingly pissed the whole day. When it was time for dinner, he refused to eat dinner with Wylan, saying that he didn't like him. I took this as an insult to Wylan, and thus I ignored him the rest of the night. I mean, how could he?! He insulted my childhood bestfriend! He should at least get to know him before judging him!
I sighed and smiled slightly.
That wasn't all that's to remember.
