Chapter Twenty- Six: Mission Compromised
Avagay rest her hand exactly on the knife. She smiles to herself, probably for once things will be better. She looks over on the sleeping man beside her. She still hasn't learnt his name yet. However, what is that to her, how can it benefit her current situation. She imagines herself sticking the knife into his huge figure. Only if he knew what was coming his way. The man starts to snore. Let a sleeping man lie is what they say.
She then stares outside through her window, then closes her eyes. She rolls the window down and takes in some fresh air. She slowly takes her weapon from her hair and lays it in her lap. Let a sleeping man lie, she rethinks. She opens the door and kicks the man outside, shuts the door then stabs the man on the front passenger seat in his side. She retrieves the driver's gun from his waist and orders him to stop the car. He doesn't at first. However, Ava slaps him in the head with her gun. He stops, Ava shoots the passenger killing him, then kicks his dead body outside, and gets in the passenger seat. She then orders the man to drive her to HQ or die. He drives.
Soon they reach on the main road when the man abruptly stops the car. He jumps out for his life and starts running for the bushes but doesn't make it too far, because Ava kills him.
"No one gets out of this sh** alive only the star," she shouts in anger, then drives off. She reaches HQ in a couple hours; however she stays out of sight. She wears a knife belt left by sleeping beauty. It possesses three knifes, she adds her knife to it - after wiping it clean- she then adds her gun. She sits back and think of a way she can get past the guards and the security cameras.
Just then she remembers the procedure. She drives up at the gate, the security comes out and checks who is there, then presses the buzzer around his neck to open the gates if the coast is clear.
Ava observes the facility a bit longer before putting her plan into action. She takes out her pistol putting it between her thighs before turning on the tired vehicle. She drives and stops at the gate, and as expected the security comes out. His slender legs stretch before him, not knowing the fate that awaits him.
"Good night-", the guard begins, but receives a bullet to the head before he can finish. Ava steps out the van plucks the security's necklace like buzzer from his neck. She hops back in the car, presses the buzzer as she approaches the gate. She locks it, when she enters, then takes a look at the dead body through the rear mirror. What a pleasant sight, she thinks. To see someone, suffer, to see someone die. To get into the building without a fight.
She wasn't the little girl from years ago and will never ever be like her. That Ava is dead and buried, sold to the fire to burn for her stupidity. Her parents' loss, her loss. Sent to burn for it. She's also here to avenge it and take what's rightfully Her's. No more games are what she wants to say. However, the phrase from a famous book sing in her ears. " In the end it's all the same,
In the end it's all a game"
Avagay shakes her head not quite understanding the parable. However, how could she at this time try to figure out what it means. She's on a mission, which will determine her fate forever.
She drives into the garage and gets out the vehicle, no shoes on. She strides towards the Muslim agent; she saw coming out a car earlier. She moves silently, but quickly behind the lady. She covers the agent's mouth from behind, cause the woman to freeze on spot. Ava then rams the knife into her body. Fresh blood reaches Ava's nose. She stabs her again with the knife.
"Run ava!", Her father's voice echos in her head.
"Have a nice day at school"
"You nearly died"
Ava looks down at the limp body in her hand. What have she done?
'Was I am murderer? 'Did I really set the vehicle on fire'
Ava drops the dead body and the knife on the floor, then looks on her blood-filled hands. A pool of blood stares at her as it crawls to her feet. She steps back covering her ears with her bloody hands, as her father's muffled screams reached her ears. The sound of whips, her body aching, her mother's dress, Christopher's last expression. She hollers a scream, longing to escape her lungs. She rests her hands on her knees, as an electric line of pain runs down her back. She flings her head back, eyes rolling over in pain.
"I need you"
"Christopher needs me... My dad needs me... I'm needed", Ava tells herself as she leans on the vehicle. She feels a rush of liquid soak her clothes from the back. Must be from the cut that reopened when she was getting out the vent. She screams in pain.
"I'm needed," she then hollers, and gets her knife. She puts it into her belt without cleaning and takes out her gun, checking if it's loaded.
She limps as she walks, with blood dripping from her legs. She winces with every step, yet still that doesn't stop her from completing her mission. She grips her pistol, stronger as blood rushes through her veins, and her body fights to not sway.
Her eyes turn black as she reminds herself why she's here. A series of scenes show themselves. She quickly brushes them aside as she steps inside the undone building.
Eyes turns towards her as she steps into the familiar building. Persons look at her in awe. Probably wondering if she raised from the dead or if she just came from a world war, probably the slaughter shop filled with animal's blood.
She observes her surroundings: three agents. Nothing she can't handle. She grips the gun firmly, and swallows as an electric wave of pain hits her.
"What the heck, are you okay?", A young feminine agent asks, while approaching Avagay.
Ava looks at her studying her beautiful features before watching the other agents pull their guns from their waste. She smirks.
'In the end it's all the same,
In the end it's all a game's, rings in her head yet again. She closes her eyes, then open it. She shoots two kill shots, killing two agents. The third agent fires at her but misses, only by an inch. Ava uses this opportunity and serves him his equal share of a head shot. They say love make you do stupid things, I guess shotting the target right is one.
She then walks down the corridor, her feet hitting the cold floor. She winces again, and her head begins to spin. She stops for a while regaining composure. Then hurries to the room they are held in. She pushes the door open, frightening the guard. Surprisingly it's J-hope. He looks her from head to toe, she shoots him dead.
She looks over at the three faces she long to see, not so much of Cindy, only because she needs to complete what Chris started so she can be free. Christopher mouth hangs wide open in shock of Ava's state. Her father looks at her, expression showing guilt and fear. Cindy looks at her but holds her expressions on a leash.
Ava falls on her knees as a river of blood runs down her back. Christopher jumps to help her, but pathetically falls back because of the cuffs.
"I need you"
'In the end it all the same,
In the end it's all a game'
"Run!"
"Everywhere in here is bugged"
"Don't leave me hanging"
"Avagay", she hears Damion's voice, rings her name.
"Don't give up, you have come this far", she hears her father's voice.
"He's right Avagay. You can't just stop here. Just come a bit closer. Just come to me", Christopher voices. "Please," his voice cracks. Something is wrong with him; something is wrong with me? I don't feel like myself.
Ava looks up at them and smiles. However, her eyes stay the same. It glows with pain. Lost. That's what she is. The island of the lost she visits, to get back what's hers.
'Finder's keepers loser's weepers', is what she believes not. She'll find and take what's rightfully Her's. Then she gets out, but only if she can find away. If she doesn't, then what will become of her mission. A mission she's lost to, or rather in.
The smile fades from her face, but she pushes herself up. She sways while trying to stand, then finally, she stands straight. However just then she hears shouting from outside. Why is the world always against me, she thinks.
She hurrily takes the keys from hope, she frees her dad first. Then Chris, he holds her in his arms. Blood soaks his hands, and a tear escapes his eyes.
"We don't have time for this," Ava says, although loving being in his arms. She pushes him back and frees Cindy.
"Let's get out of here," Ava says to them handing Chris a weapon. She takes J-hope's two guns from him and hands one to Cindy.
"Come on dad," she hushes her dad over. She becomes dizzy, as she develops a headache. She closes her eyes, as her heart beats faster. She tries to steady her heartbeat, breathing in and out. A hand wraps her into a hug. She intakes sweet fragrance of blood and vanilla mixed together. A calm feeling rushes through her body, as she opens her eyes slowly. She looks up into worried eyes.
"I'm fine", she mumbles, trying to reassure Chris, so not to worry him. She pushes him back, trying to escape his hold once more. However, he holds her tighter; she winces.
"Let me finish this"
"I can handle it-"
"I know, but just let me take it from here. You have done enough," Christopher whispers, he tries hard not to let a next tear escape his eyes. However, it does, being rebellious. Avagay wipes his tear, heart softening by his worry. Her heart warms, with his love as his body scent raids to her and his warmth engulfs her. She realizes his hand where he got shot has been cleaned and he also has a clean shirt.
"Okay", she agrees, wanting to kiss those lips, that tremble shamelessly for her.
Chris wipes his eyes, then shoots an agent who just entered the room. He then takes the gun from Ava and tells them to stay behind him. Cindy doesn't listen, she goes in front, ava follows her then her father, Chris follows after, watching their back.
They flee to the van, killing many agents on the way. Cindy gets injured in the left arm, the only wound she has from everything that happened, during this mission. Christopher also got wounded, only grassed by a bullet, on the same arm as he was shot in - by Clinton. They drive away with many agents on their tale, now to lose them.
Thick fog trails behind the vehicle as it dashes out of the parking lot. It flies for the gate, which is open by Ava with the buzzer she possesses. She hurriedly closes the gate but not before two cars can run through. She groans in annoyance and pain looking over Christopher, the driver.
" Do you see what I mean? Who the hell is going to kill them bastards," she says- yell at Chris. She knows Chris is better with guns, so does everybody else. However, he insisted on driving.
She isn't half as good as Christopher when she isn't hurt. Imagine her now. She was bound to get them killed well, Christopher he was the one who opted on driving in her state.
"Cindy do the honors," Chris looks over his shoulders. Then back at Ava a smirk crawling to his face. Ava sighs and looks ahead of her. For a minute she forgot that Cindy and her dad were in the car. It seemed as when both Chris and her were fleeing from Cindy's home, except for the turn of roles and her bloody state.
Avagay's stomach lurched, something didn't seem right. Her gaze blurs, while she looks at her visibly shaking hands.
"Was I a murderer... Am I a murderer," rings out loud in her ears.
" You... you nearly died... died... died" She looks over at Christopher, then looks back at herself. She quickly wears her seatbelt with her shaking hands.
" In the end it's all the same, In the end it's all a game," her vision becomes foggy as a loud boom goes off.
" We got it?" she hears Christopher's faintish voice bursting through her ringing ears. " We got it," Cindy responds with a chuckle.
" This is our real Mission"
"I don't miss a thing everything in here is bugged"
"I'm your boss"
"I'm sorry"
"Goodbye Avagay"
Loud voices holler in her ears as her mind becomes foggy. The voices seem disoriented; however, she knows who they belong to, except one. Ava's back aches with pain as her eyes begins to shut. Before her eyes give in, she looks over at Chris who looks at her with pity while wearing a smirk.
