Sonic's P.O.V.
"No..." He whispered. My vision got blurry from the tears when my ears picked up what he said, I was about to leave the room when he grabbed my arm.

"I didn't mean only that." He continued. "I didn't just like you. I loved you. I still do. I want to protect you, no matter what... But when G.U.N. caught me, I was afraid that they'll catch you too, that they'll do worse things to you than me..." His voice broke and squeezed my hand weakly. "I didn't know that it would have such an impact on you if I left... I didn't know that you'd cry every day if I faked that I didn't feel the same... I just want you to be safe! I never wanted to hurt you!" I looked at me with an expression I never wanted to see. "I'm sorry Sonic... I really am..."

I felt as if his words were healing my heart, I thought the cut was deep, that the pain was unbearable, but by hearing all this, all I felt was my love for him.

"Will you forgive me...?" He asked lowly, it was close to a whisper.

I slowly nodded and broke down then hugged him tightly yet carefully, not wanting to hurt him even more.

All the pain went away when I felt his arms around me, holding me close in a protective hug. I looked up at Shadow, still sobbing and crying. "I-I l-love y-you..." I didn't care if it was too soon, I just said the truth.

"I love you more..." Shadow said lowly and kissed me. I immediately kissed back and purred quietly, as everything else disappeared.

When he pulled away, I noticed that he was in pain from sitting up, I carefully pushed him to lay down and sighed quietly. "I'm really sorry for-"

"Are you okay?" I heard shooting-" Tails cut me off when he opened the door, he gasped when he saw me here and lowered his ears. "Sonic... He's hurt..." He said softly and pulled me away from Shadow. "He must rest."

I slowly nodded and left, still lightly sobbing, but I was glad that I had Shadow back, I really was.

I was about to lay on my bed when I got a call. It was from... Sonia...

"Hello?" I asked softly and wiped my tears.

"Hello, Sonic." I dropped my ears when I heard the commander's voice.

"What do yo-" I was cut off by a knock on the door and a familiar voice following right after.

"Maurice? It's your mother! I'm here to take Shadow back to G.U.N."

"Mom...?" I whispered and walked to the door confused.

"You had no right to take Project Shadow away, he is our property. I talked with Queen Aleena, she said she still supports the law, no matter if it was turned down." The commander started talking. "She agreed on taking him back to us, if not, you will be next when Shadow dies~" The commander chuckled and hang up.

I pinned my ears down and opened the door, there was Aleena, standing in front of the door with G.U.N. agents next to her.

"Maurice." She said in a serious and mad voice. "I thought I had made it clear."

I growled lowly, being pissed that my own mother would betray me like this. "Yes, you made it very clear that you don't make a good mother." I glared at her. "You don't know what damage you've caused all those years! Your own kids hate you! You've locked us up like we're pets! Like we don't have a life!" I tried not to shout, I didn't want Shadow to hear this. "You might think I'm stubborn, but I'm not letting you take away Shadow! Think about it! What would you do if someone wanted to take us from you and torture them to death!! And you can't do anything because the one you're supposed to trust the most is with the enemy!!!" I snapped at her. "I don't know why I should even call you my mother!!"

Aleena lowered her ears slightly at that and looked at me with regret and hurt expression. "Son. I-"

"No, I'm not talking to you until you deal with this. Take the papers from G.U.N. and understand that being gay, is NOT WRONG!!" I slammed the door and growled lowly, mad at Aleena, the commander and even myself.

"Sonic... Please try to calm down..." Tails said softly and walked to me. "We'll find a way to stop this."

I walked past him and walked to the room Shadow was in and closed the door behind me. "Shad..." I was close to breaking down again. "G.U.N. is after you again... I don't want to lose you..." I grabbed his hand and squeezed it.

Shadow looked at me and dropped his ears. "I can take care of this..." He said weakly. "I know where they keep my files. I'll take them and come back."

I immediately shook my head. "No, you're weak, you can't even stand up."

"It'll take a-"

"No." I looked down. "Please."

"... I love you..." He said and chaos controlled away.

I gasped and pinned my ears down. "Shadow!! No!!" I started panicking and was about to dash to G.U.N. when I felt someone grab my wrist. I quickly turned around and saw Shadow, panting heavily with some files in his hand.

"I... Got them..." He mumbled and laid down, he was shaking lightly and started coughing.

"Why did you do that?! You could've died!" I was slowly going insane at the whole drama. My life would be a great show, don't you think?

"But I didn't... That's what matters..." He held my hand weakly. "Also... I killed the commander..."

I dropped my ears and looked at Shadow shocked. "What?! Shadow!!"

"Don't shout. It's his time anyway." Shadow rolled his eyes. "What he's done to me is worse."

"That doesn't mean that you can kill him!"

"I made it look like an accident. The base blew up when I-"

"Please stop. You're making it worse." I rubbed my face as my ears twitched. I never knew that I would be in such a crazy situation.

"I'm just kidding." He chuckled and smiled weakly.

"What do you mean?" I raised a brow and tried my absolute hardest to stay calm.

It was difficult.

"He's not dead, but he will be. The scientists don't know what they're doing in the laboratory. They always overheat their machines. I'm surprised they haven't blown up the place yet."

"I..." I was in a loss of words. "What? How do you know that?"

"They've stopped many times in the middle of the surgery because the power went off."

I gasped when I heard a loud explosion, but it was from far away.

"Told you." He mumbled calmly and closed his eyes.

How could he be so calm about it?!

I pinned my ears down when I suddenly remembered. "Mom!!" 

I dashed out of the room and saw Aleena talking with Tails, she was crying.

"Mom...?" I mumbled and looked out the window, the smoke was slowly rising. I looked back at my mother and slowly walked to her.

She looked at me with tears in her eyes. "I'm so sorry Sonic... I'm trying the best I can to keep you and your siblings safe."

"Well, you need to try harder." I crossed my arms. "You almost killed Shadow."

"I'm sorry..." She repeated. "What can I do for you to forgive me?"

"Promise that you'll listen to us. And don't judge people for their sexuality." I lightly glared at her.

"I'll try... But I can't promise that everything will change..." She looked down at her hands. "Not entirely, at least..."

I sighed and dropped my hands.

I can't stay mad at her. She's my mother...

I walked to her and hugged her gently. "I'm sorry Mom. Don't push yourself, just... Please. Don't do that again..."

My mother hugged back and nodded. "I promise."
