"Bᴏᴡ ᴛɪᴇꜱ ᴀʀᴇ ᴄᴏᴏʟ" and "I ᴛᴏᴏᴋ ᴀ ᴅᴜᴍᴘ ɪɴ ʏᴏᴜʀ ᴘᴏᴏʟ"

Christopher knocked on the door.

"Come in." A voice replied from inside. He was at Mr Browne's office. He had no idea why he was called in, but he really hoped it wasn't because he had messed up their cover already. That little runt would kill him with just the look.

His fake sister wasn't that great either.

"I was called?" He asked. The headmaster wasn't a very tall man. Average height, but pretty round. A brunette was sitting in front of him.

"Yes. Please sit down." Christopher took a seat.

"This is Alexa Black." He introduced. "She's new."

Gah! A voice screamed in his head. She had dyed her hair brown and was sprawled across her chair.

"Right. Yes. Hello. I'm new too." He said.

"Yeah, we don't need to tell everyone." The headmaster cut him.

"Right. Yes." He tapped his feet continuously on the ground. "Why am I here again?"

He saw from the corner of his eye that Alexa was smirking. It was after the meeting with Marion that Christopher had found out who she actually was. And if the rumours were true, Christopher had every right to shit his pants right then.

"I hired you to be the counsellor?" Mr Browne said slowly. Alexa rolled her eyes, twirling a pen in her hand. At least they had one thing in common, the nervous energy. He immediately placed a palm on his leg to stop it.

"Right. Yes." Christopher said, realising he said that three times already. "What do you want me to do?"

"Well, I have talked to Ms Black and we have decided that she will be taking counselling from you for this week, instead of detention. Only because it is her first day." He turned to her. "And if this continues, I will have no option but to give you detention. And if that continues - "

" - You will have to suspend me." Alexa finished for him, grumbling. "I know how schools work."

"Show some respect and sit forward." He said sternly.

"I showed you all the respect you deserved before you told me and I quote 'it doesn't matter if the girl got beat, you can't hit the son of the man who pays for the infrastructure', after that I still give you the respect you deserve, it's just you don't deserve that much." She replied still sprawled on the chair.

"You know what? You just lost your first day privileges." Mr Browne said.

"Oh! Poor me." Alexa muttered sarcastically.

"Detention for the entire week." He replied. "Now get out."

Alexa got up and walked outside.

"Why does trouble follow you around like a little puppy that you fed a biscuit?" Christopher heard Jacob say outside the door as she left.

"Is there anything else?" Christopher asked.

"Yes." He replied taking off his glasses. "The school board; that is the headmaster, the prefects, our investors and the head admins; we have decided that we need you."

         "What?"

"Yeah. You have quite the degree. And a lot of our board members have short tempers." He explained.

"You do realise I'm not a therapist," Christopher said slowly.

"Well..." He said pausing for a second. "That's not the only reason. Every year the board picks a new member to join. It usually never mattered who joined. This year, however, has a different scenario. We have a new investor and he isn't a man you want to..."

He waved his hands about trying to find the right word. "Displease?" He questioned himself.

"I understand what you mean." Christopher helped him move on to the next sentence.

"Right. So yeah. You seem harmless. You won't speak unless spoken to. It's perfect." He went on.

"This investor... is he the one the girl was talking about before?" Christopher asked.

"Yes," Browne replied. "It's his son that she beat up."

"Isn't that a problem?" Christopher asked.

Browne sighed. "It is."

Browne stared off into space as Christopher sat there awkwardly tapping his foot on the ground.

After about a minute, he realised there wasn't anything else so he got up.

         "I should go." He said.

"Right." Browne snapped out of his daydream. "Let me know if you will be joining."

"I will," Christopher replied without a second thought. He was being handed a gun to shoot the villain on a silver platter, he wasn't going to say 'Nah. I'm good'.

"Okay," Browne said. "You can leave now."

Christopher's phone pinged.

Is he dead yet?

He rolled his eyes at the text and walked out.

We need to meet. There is going to be a few changes to the plan.

"Hey-o. Look! It's Mr Dull-ver." A random kid in the corridor yelled out. The group around him chuckled.

Christopher ignored the kid and entered his room. Alexa was sitting on his chair with her feet on the table, and a novel in her hands.

         "Get up." He said.

She didn't move an inch.

"Fine." He grumbled and sat down on the student chair. She put down her book and took her feet of the table. She pulled herself forward with the help of the desk and placed her arms on the table with her fingers intertwined.

"Tell me, Mr Dunver. Why do you keep getting in trouble? What is the problem with your brain? Is it your childhood? The way your parents have brought you up?" She said with a deep, serious voice. "That hairstyle? The outfit? I honestly can't figure out which part of all your failures has caused this."

Outfit? Christopher glanced at his clothes. He was dressed the way a gentleman should. A pink blazer, pants and a bow tie.

"Only one person can tell me. And that is..." She poked my chest with her finger. "...You."

"Bow ties are cool." Christopher quoted adjusting it.

"I'm here for you." She continued. "I just need you to tell me one of your secrets."

She seemed so warm. As if her smile was radiating heat, showing just the right amount of teeth. Her brown eyes, soft and welcoming. Christopher almost felt like he was at church, confessing his sins. She looked like she was going to pay him on his head and feed him yoghurt like his mother.

"I took a dump in your pool," Christopher said slowly. "I'm sorry."

We stared at each other for a few seconds. And then there was laughter behind Christopher.

"Holy shit." Jacob paused trying to catch a breath. He got up and placed twenty bucks on the table. "That was good. You are good. That was some good acting."

"And you - " he turned to Christopher. "I called the handyman off. You're going to be cleaning up your own shit."

Christopher looked at Alexa. She merely shrugged, pocketing the twenty bucks.

"Really funny kids. Really funny." Chris grumbled. "I guess I shouldn't share this new information I have then?"

Alexa merely raised an eyebrow.

"I'm kidding. I'm obviously going to tell you." Christopher quickly said. "I was just kidding. I already said that right? Anyway. Yeah, I was just kidding."

They continued to stare at him.

"Right.  So this information. They asked me to be a part of the board." He said. Their faces didn't change a bit. He was expecting more. "Which means I'm going to be in the same room as Jonathan James..."

Alexa's face still remained the same, but Jacob looked excited.

Christopher's phone pinged but he decided to ignore it.

"Hell yeah! Go, Chris!" Jacob said and gave him a high five as the bell rang through the room. "We should go. Just because it's all fake doesn't mean we can fail our exams."

"Goody-two-shoes," Alexa muttered following him outside.

Christopher's phone pinged again.

5:00 in front of Mc Donalds.

You dead?

Christopher took a deep breath. Did he really need to do this?

Too late to back out now.

5:00 sounds good.
