Chapter 4
"You okay, Allison? Your face is so red." Taylor asked as they walked up the stairs.
"Oh, I um..."
"Are you sick?" Meg asked worriedly. "We should bring you to the nurse."
"No I'm fine." Allison smiled. "I just..."
She looked down at the floor while her face flushed an even deeper shade of red. Meg and Taylor gave each other knowing looks.
"Who is it?" Taylor nudged the blushing girl. "Come on, spill."
"N-no one! I'm just...feeling a bit stuffy today..."
"We can pretty much guess who it is without you telling." Meg grinned.
She sighed, admitting defeat. "Okay! It-it was Isaac."
"Who's that?"
"That Asian kid. I bumped into him at the school gates."
"And?" Both girls asked excitedly.
"He ran off before I could greet him." She replied, receiving disappointed sighs.
They reached at their classroom and opened the door, immediately spotting a familiar person in her seat.
Jenny had arrived at school earlier than usual to watch Aaron practice for the football game and to give him her full support.
She stared out the window, head rested in her palms. Mr White said that they were going to be doing gymnastics today as their training and she was excited, for gymnastics were one of her favourites.
Lost in thought, Jenny didn't notice her friends approach her until they spoke up.
"Good morning, Jenny!" Allison smiled at her. "You're pretty early today."
"O-oh, good morning..."
She squirmed uncomfortably in her seat as they sat down and began talking about a random subject.
"You okay, Jenny?" Taylor asked, realising that she hadn't joined in the conversation.
"Oh um..."
"You can tell us if anything's wrong."
Jenny just stared at her smiling friends. They're acting as if nothing happened...
"Jenny?"
"I'm sorry."
They were taken back by her sudden apology.
"For what?"
"For ditching you...yesterday. I'm sorry."
"It's okay, Jenny." Allison said quickly. "We understand if you have important things to do."
"And besides, Aaron told us. "Meg looked up from her book, raising an eyebrow.
"Aaron...told you...?" They nodded.
"Yeah. He told us that your father didn't like guests over at your house."
...what?
"Hold on. Aaron told you...that?"
"Is...something wrong?"
"Ah...nothing." Aaron wait till I speak with you.
"You don't have to feel bad about anything." Allison smiled. "We forgive you, even if there's nothing to forgive."
Jenny smiled back. "Thank you."
