Now on with the story...

"Didn't sleep well, Jenny?" Aaron asked as they neared the school building.
"No. I was thinking about...the dog." Jenny said, yawning.
To tell the truth, she didn't sleep at all. Jenny has always been keen and observant, and she knew that that was no ordinary dog, ill or otherwise.
"Yeah, I know. But we really couldn't do anything about it. Besides, Mr White told us not to worry."
"I think we should be worrying." She sighed.
"Be worrying about what?"
They jumped in shock as someone suddenly spoke from behind. It turned out to be Taylor, who had agreed to meet up with Meg for a study session.
"Taylor! You scared us!" Jenny exclaimed at her smiling friend.
"Morning, Jenny! And Aaron." Taylor greeted them. "What were you two talking about?"
"Nothing." Aaron replied quickly.
"Jeez, you siblings are so secretive!" She huffed.
They laughed, as Taylor could be very funny if she wanted to.
"Hey, Taylor. Have you heard about the football match next meek? You're coming, right?" Aaron asked, knowing his little sister's best friend.
"You bet I am!" Taylor replied. "Who are you playing against?"
Jenny laughed at the two sports lovers in front of her, shaking her head. She looked around, wondering if Allison has arrived when her eyes caught sight of something far away.
The dog.
The exact same dog from the night before was hiding behind a tree, its glowing eyes glaring at her. She stared back, noticing a hole in its head. But Mr White killed it. How is it still alive?
"Jenny?" Aaron snapped her out of thought. She turned to look at him. "Taylor left to find Meg. What were you staring at?"
"Aaron…the dog…" She pointed in its direction.
"What the–it's alive?" Aaron's eyes widened in disbelief.
They flinched as the dog snarled at them, showing is blood-covered teeth. It looked like it was about to charge at them, and Jenny moved her arm to her jacket, where a gun was hidden. Aaron grabbed her wrist.
"Jenny, we can't."
She hesitated, looking back at the dog. It growled, before turning around and leaving. They sighed in relief.
"That was close."
"Aaron, it's supposed to be dead."
"I know. But…let's not tell anyone yet."
"…alright."
Classes went by in a blur, and before she knew it, school was over. She said outside the gates, waiting for Aaron, as he said he would be coming home with her.
"Jenny!"
Allison, Meg and Taylor waved at her. She smiled at them.
"Hey guys!"
"Jenny! Are you waiting for Aaron?" Taylor asked.
"Mm-hm. He's taking a while though. Why?"
"We were wondering if we could hang out somewhere."
"Sure. I could leave him a message. Where are you guys planning to go? I need to be back by 4." For training. Or Mr White'll kill me.
"No need to." Meg said suddenly. "We could just hang at your place."
"M-my place?"
"Yeah! We've never seen the inside or outside of your house before." Allison agreed. "How about it, Jenny?"
All heads turned to her, but she just stared back. Me White's words from 9 years ago rang in her mind.
"No one can know this. Bad things will happen. Bad, bad things…"
"Jenny?"
"You can't."
"Huh?"
"You can't come to my house. I'm sorry."
"If you don't want to, we could go somewhere else." Allison suggested quickly.
"No. I just thought of something I needed to do. I'll be going now."
She turned and walked away quickly, ignoring the calls of her friends. She felt bad, ditching them like that, but she had to keep it secret and didn't want to lie. She sighed, entering a narrow road that leads to the only home she's ever got.
She suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder, and thinking that it was a stranger, she grabbed the wrist and twisted it, earning a familiar cry of pain.
"Jenny! It's just me!"
"A-Aaron?"
He nodded hello and retreated his arm, rubbing his wrist.
"Oh gosh!" Jenny gasped. "I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to..."
"It's okay." He waved it off. "Just shows how strong you've become."
She nodded silently and they resumed walking.
"So…Allison told me you went off on your own." Aaron said, noticing the body stiffening beside him. "Didn't you know I'll be coming back with you today?"
"I-I did." Jenny replied uneasily, looking away. "I just…thought of something I needed to do…first…"
Aaron sighed, making her look up. "You know you can tell me anything, Jenny." He smiled at her.
Well, this was true. They've never kept anything from each other, often sharing their thoughts, worries and fears, though sometimes knowing to respect each other's privacy.
"You don't have to tell, if you don't want to."
"No…it's just…they were planning to come over. To our…house."
"Oh, I see. So what did you say?"
She avoided her brother's gaze. "Nothing. I just walked away."
Aaron halted to a stop and started at her in shock.
"You-what?!"
"I know! It was rude of me, but you know what Mr White said, and I didn't want to lie." She stared down at her feet and sighed. "I'm sorry."
"Hey, hey. You don't have to apologize. Well, not to me, anyway."
"They must really hate me now."
"Just come up with an excuse. I'm sure they'll understand."
"But…I can't just lie. They're my best friends."
Aaron crossed his arms behind his head and looked up at the sky.
"Sometimes, it's okay to lie, if you're doing it for good. There's no wrong in that. I mean, we don't have a choice, do we?"
She took a peek at Aaron from the corner of her eye. He sounded wistful, saying that. She chuckled slightly.
"What's so funny?"
"You sounded like Mr White, for a moment there."
"Well, duh! That old man's been giving you advice and guiding you for so long, I'm starting to feel left out." He huffed, making her laugh softly.
"You know you'll always be my brother." She whispered, resting her head on his shoulder, a thing she liked to do since young.
He smiled in return, wrapping his arms around her waist. "And you my sister."
They stayed like that for a while.
