A/N: I'm sorry it took so long for the second chapter. Things got in the way and I didn't have time to write the chapter.

Jimin had moved districts when he entered high school. Every day, Jimin stayed in his mother's classroom until the first bell rang. His mother introduced him to a coworker's son, Woosung. They talked well but because Woosung had his own friends, Jimin always felt left out. Most of the time, it was Woosung and his 3 other friends with Jimin as the fifth wheel.
They would leave him alone in the cafeteria when they "finished" their lunch. So when a guy from class, Choi Minho, invited Jimin to his lunch table with his friends, Jimin accepted with low expectations. However, Jimin was met with the nicest people in school. The group always stayed indoors during recess. They would play games on their laptops, listen to music, joke around, or start small food fights.
Jimin was always happy with this group because he wasn't left alone or behind anymore. Woosung didn't bother to seek him, not that Jimin cared. He especially got close with this boy, Lee Taemin, despite not having classes with him. Eventually, Jimin started staying in his mom's classroom to eat the lunch his mother packed alone in the dark, empty room. He did this every day since freshman year and it became a habit.
For 2 and a half years, this was his routine.
Jimin's best friend was Jeon Jeongguk, who he met on the first day of school freshman year. Jeongguk and Jimin shared 5 classes out of 8 that year. They met during Social Studies when Jimin gave Jeongguk the answer to an assignment. Since then, Jeongguk had been by his side. He had his own other friends Jimin didn't know and Jeongguk never pushed Jimin to hang out with them. For that, Jimin was thankful; Jimin's friends already knew Jeongguk.
Jimin remembers how old his high school building was. There were cracks on the wall and leaks on the roof.
Construction for a new, larger building began when Jimin was a sophomore. The building was so large that when it was completed, it could fit 3 schools.
And it did.
Jimin's high school and another high school Jimin had never heard of were merged to create one huge class. The 3rd school that joined the building was the middle school across the street. However, the middle schoolers and the high schoolers were separated, each getting their own side of the building.
Finally, everyone moved in once the construction was completed in the second semester of Jimin's junior year. How did it go?
Let's say Jimin's high school and the other high school did not get along. Even the principal was very biased towards the other school. When everyone moved into the new building, Jimin's old high school building was bulldozed.
When this change was made, Jimin stopped eating in his mom's classroom.
He ate in the cafeteria with Taemin, Minho, and the rest of his old friends. It was like old times, only new people like Choi Beomgyu, Huening Kai, Kang Taehyun, Choi Yeonjun, and Choi Soobin, had joined the group. They were people he had seen in class and even talked to some of them.
Honestly, it was refreshing to talk to Jinki, Kibum, and Jonghyun, since Jimin hadn't seen them in a while. And now, he had five more friends he could add to his list. Not to mention, the only class Jimin had Jeongguk in was the last one, where the teacher would always sit this together. This made their friendship even stronger.
Soon, senior year rolled around.
Taemin, Yeonjun, and Soobin moved away.
Jeongguk stopped hanging out with his friends and Jimin never found out why. For some reason, despite not having any classes together, they stayed very close, trying out new things like dancing and art together.
Jimin stopped going to the cafeteria, instead, eating with Jeongguk by the stairs near the main hallway.
Beomgyu, Kai, and Taehyun separated themselves from the others.
Jinki, Kibum, Minho, and Jonghyun would hang out with Jimin and Jeongguk after they finished eating in the cafeteria.
Sure, many things changed when Senior year came around, but there were also many things Jimin was thankful for.
Looking back, before the virus ended his senior year experience, he had great times with his friends. Yet, no matter how special his friends were to him, he never forgot his first.
Jimin often wondered how he was doing, what he was doing. And at the end of the day, it was always hope.
He hoped Taehyung was doing well. He hoped he was happy.
He had come to terms he'd never see him again.
However, Jimin knows Taehyung will always be with him in his subconscious.

"Hey. Today, I'm going to eat with Yoonji. Do you want to come?" A memory from Jimin's freshman year popped in this head.
Jimin stopped singing along to the music playing on the radio when his mother talked to him.
"Hm?" he asked as he directed his attention to his mother driving him to school.
"Do you want to come to eat with me and Yoongi's mom tonight?" Jimin shrugged but nodded.
"Okay. I'll bring my tablet and headphones," he mentioned.
"Yoongi's going too. His mom said she was taking him. You two can talk."
Jimin nodded, redirecting his attention to the music on the radio, which was now playing a different song. At last, the two arrived at a somewhat empty lot. Jimin gathered his supplies. His backpack was huge, seemingly like he packed bricks while his laptop lent by the school hung from his hand like a briefcase.
The morning was quiet. The chirping of birds and the passing of cars were the only sound filling the air. Jimin was already used to these sounds, especially this early. The people and creatures around them had their own days they had to live, whether they'd be the same or not.
Jimin likes to think he's living each day differently. He found himself somehow excited to go to school, especially if he's seeing his friends.
Soon Jimin's mother finished getting her supplies from the car's trunk. When his mother looks over to him, he flashes a smile and she returns it. They walk side by side to the entrance of the school.
"Mommy," Jimin dragged. "I don't want to go to school today," he whined like a child.
His mom smiled. "I don't either," she mocked.
"Then can I just skip today?"
"No," she playfully whined back.
Thank goodness, he thought.
