Chapter 6
Minho rubbed his eyes tired. Although nothing really exciting had happened, it had become a long hard day at work. He had been able to prevent having to participate in the foreign assignment with a lot of effort and was happy to be able to stay with Jisung.
Yawning, he ran through the underground car park and sat down in his car. He hardly paid attention to the street. He could have driven the route in his sleep. As often as he had already driven exactly this route at night, with far too little sleep.
He very much hoped that Jisung was already at home. He would do anything to be able to go to bed with his fiancé immediately. Unfortunately, there was still a twenty-minute drive in front of him.
But when he finally got home, he found the bed cold and abandoned.
Somewhat disappointed, he put on his sleeping clothes and lay down in bed.
He knew it would take him a while to fall asleep. Whenever Jisung was gone overnight, he had difficulty falling asleep.
But he had no choice but to try.
Yawning, he took his cell phone off the bedside table and quickly wrote a message to Jisung before turning to the side and closed his eyes.
But although he managed to fall asleep relatively quickly this time, he kept scared out of sleep. And every time he grabbed next to him, Jisung's side was still empty.
Around two o'clock in the morning, Minho sat up angry and tired. Angry at Chan, because he had once again forced his fiancé to stay in the studio overnight.
Even though Minho knew in the end that it wasn't really Chan's fault, he still wanted to punch him hard.
Resigned, he closed his eyes again and tried to get some more sleep.
Only to be torn out of sleep by the ringing of his work phone about two hours later.
"There is a new case, come to headquarters!"
Minho sat up discouraged and tried to shake off the fatigue. Normally he had no problems getting up at night when a new case came in, but this time he didn't feel really good about it.
He missed Jisung and would have liked to see and hug him. But that had to wait until tonight.
Sighing, he got dressed and left the apartment in a hurry. Chilling, he turned up the seat heating and turned on music.
If he couldn't see his fiancé, he could at least hear him.
The trip to headquarters passed quickly and when he parked in the underground car park, he already saw Jimin coming towards him.
"Well, there again?" asked the older one and hit him on the shoulder comradely.
"Unfortunately," Minho laughed a little sadly. "Jisung wasn't at home all night and you know what my nights are like then."
"Yes, you tough soldier. I know what it's like when he's not at home," they both had to laugh and ran to the elevator.
There was a tense atmosphere at the top of the office. There was a lot of activity for the time and everyone is lying around with worried glances.
"What happened anyway?"
Jimin shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know."
A few moments later, everyone gathered in the conference room.
"This morning at 03:45 Agent Kim was shot. His condition is critical. Two more of our agents have disappeared."
After that, general hustle and bustle broke out.
Minho drove with Jimin and two other agents to the crime scene. Minho was at the wheel while the older one was sitting in the passenger seat.
Impatiently drummed around with his fingers on the steering wheel. He had the feeling that something was wrong, but he couldn't classify where the feeling came from.
They spent the next few hours sifting through the crime scene, questioning witnesses and securing evidence.
It was a terribly exhausting morning and even after several hours they hadn't made any progress with the investigation.
Frustrated, Minho sat in the car again with Jimin on the way back to headquarters.
"Minho, what's going on? You're not just troubled because of the case?" asked the older one worried.
"Something is wrong. I can't tell you what, but I feel like something happened that I miss."
Unfortunately, Minho briefly looked over to the older one, but then concentrated on the street again.
Once they arrived at headquarters, they took the elevator upstairs. Just as they left the elevator, Minho's private phone rang.
Frowning, he looked on it.
Bang Chan
But before Minho could answer the call, they were called to the conference room by their supervisor.
With an unpleasant feeling, he rejected the call and followed Jimin with quick steps.
