34: Apologies
A/N: This chapter contains sexual content.
Aiden's lips descended on my neck as my mouth dropped open in shock. In the heat of the moment, I planted my hand on his face and pushed him off of me.
"Married? What do you mean you're getting married?"
There was a pause. "What do you mean what do I mean? I'm. getting. married. I made it pretty clear," she said sternly.
My mother is getting married? She literally finalized her divorce only a few months prior. And who the hell is she getting married to? That John guy? Or was it Adam? Or Jacob?
Maybe I should stop guessing. Those aren't even near the same thing, and I'm probably super far off.
"Mom, how long have you known this...guy?" I decided to play it safe and not guess a name.
"His name is Robert, and we've been dating for over six months. You know that."
"But don't you think six months is still a little too soon to be considering marriage? I mean, that's hardly enough time to figure out if you want to spend the rest of your lives together, and you just got out of an eighteen year long marriage with-"
"Tracey, please," she tried saying sternly, but I heard the worry in her voice. That wasn't a place that she wanted to be brought back to, and I shouldn't have mentioned it.
I sighed. "Fine. When is this wedding happening?"
I could practically hear the smile in her voice when she said, "Next Saturday."
-
Six days later, my mom was at her bachelorette party, and I was still in shock. How in the hell did Robert and my mother plan an entire wedding in under a week? And why the hell are they in such a rush?
"Come on care bear, time for bed. Tomorrow's a big day, and we want you all rested for it," Aiden said in his voice reserved for children. He picked her up and brought Brittany over to me.
"Say goodnight to your big sister!" he said so enthusiastically, I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing.
Brittany grabbed my cheeks, leaned in, and kissed me on my nose. I kissed her on her forehead, and she giggled in response.
"Goodnight sweetheart," I cooed.
As I watched Aiden carry her to her room, I got a warm feeling inside of my chest. He looked like he was made to be a father. Any woman that has children with him would be extremely lucky. I could tell that no matter what, he would take wonderful care of his kids, and love them unconditionally.
I'm kind of hoping that woman is me.
I was still lost in my thoughts when Aiden came back downstairs. He wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his head on my shoulder.
"What are you thinking about, beautiful?"
Turning to face him, I wrapped my arms around his neck and looked into hazel flecked eyes.
"I was just thinking about how great of a father you'll be one day."
His eyes took on an amused glint. "Oh really? I'm glad you think that." He gave me a quick peck, and led me over to the couch in the living room.
We sat down together, and I snuggled up close to him, resting my head on his shoulder. The TV was on, but I wasn't really sure of what was playing because I was more focused on Aiden and I. More focused on the moment. Aiden was lazily rubbing my shoulders, and I never felt more at ease. I looked up at him, and when our eyes connected, I felt an overwhelming sense of love for him. It felt like I was right where I needed to be.
In the heat of the moment, I placed my hand on the back of Aiden's head and lowered his lips to mine. The kiss was filled with passion and desire, and I felt my entire body warm up. His hands began to roam my body- my shoulders, down my back, and my behind. He squeezed my butt, causing my mouth to open in surprise, and he used that opportunity to deepen the kiss.
Then my hands were roaming his body. I went under his shirt and let my hands skim his well defined chest, tracing every ridge and valley as if his skin were braille. Leaving one hand on his chest, my other hand traveled lower, wrapping around his growing erection. He let out a growl and broke the kiss.
"We're going to have to be quiet," he said so low, it was almost a whisper.
I nodded furiously. I was more than ready to finish what we started at David's vacation home.
His eyes widened, dark with desire. "You up for the challenge, gorgeous?"
I nodded once again, desire clouding my own vision. I'd do anything if it meant I could have him again. Even be silent. It shouldn't be too hard.
Aiden groaned in frustration and pulled my shirt over my head, freeing my breasts. For a moment he was silent, staring at me as if I were a piece of precious art.
"You are so damn beautiful baby." With that, his lips descended on my neck, finding my weak spot, and sucking gently. I had to bite my lips to keep from moaning. It was then I realized that this "challenge" was going to be harder than I thought. If I could barely keep quiet now, imagine later!
He left a trail of kisses down my neck and collarbone, and wrapped his lips around my nipple. I gasped softly as he started to suck, and he reached out his finger and placed it on my lips, reminding me to be quiet. That just made more heat pool in my core. His hand then dropped to my other breast, flicking his thumb across the bud. I bit down on my lip harder.
Transferring his mouth to the other breast, his hand reached down to my core, and he ran his fingers up and down my slit.
He released my bud. "Damn baby, you're so wet for me," he groaned. Before I could process what was happening, he was between my legs. His tongue found its way to my bundle of nerves, and I gasped softly again as he unleashed his assault.
Running his fingers up and down my center again, he finally settled on my entrance and entered me. First one finger, then two. I whimpered softly again and again, too much pleasure for my mind to comprehend. Before I knew it, I was trembling, aching to find my release. When he sucked on my clit, I lost it. I bit down on my lip so hard I drew blood, and Aiden rode the waves of my orgasm out, licking me slowly until I was finished.
I was still catching my breath when I heard the sound of a condom wrapper being torn. That was enough to send more waves of desire to my core, and all I could think about was having him inside me. And then he was. First slow and steady, then hard and fast. I was consumed with him, completely filled by him. At one point, I could no longer be silent, and he covered my lips with his in a heated kiss to muffle my moans. Pressure built up within me again, and it felt like there was a coil inside of me that needed to be released.
"Please...baby...I..." I tried to get the sentence out, tried to let him know what I need.
I got the message. His hand found my bundle of nerves again, stroking it in rhythm with his thrusts. And I was gone again.
-
I snuggled up against Aiden, letting our limbs intertwine with one another. After all of that, I was understandably very tired, and I was perfectly content with going to sleep like this. Apparently, so was Aiden. I could hear him lightly snoring next to him, feel the gentle rise and fall of his chest. I was slowly following in his footsteps, my breathing slowing, my eyelids drooping...
Until the bell rang. My eyes shot open and I stared into the darkness, hoping that the bell ringing was a figment of my imagination. But then the person at the door began to knock, loudly. I scowled and carefully untangled myself from Aiden so as to not wake him up.
When I opened the door, I was...not so pleasantly surprised to see who was on the other side.
There stood my father, leaning against the door frame as a form of support. He reeked of alcohol, his clothes were wrinkled, and his eyes were bloodshot. He was a mess.
I crossed my arms over my chest.
"To what do I owe this pleasure?" I asked sarcastically.
"Where's..your mother," he slurred.
"Not here." I reached for the door, ready to close it. "Now if you're done wasting my time..."
"No! Can I come in?"
"I highly doubt this conversation will take that long."
"Please."
I sighed and stepped aside to let him in. He staggered his way into the living room, stopping short when he saw Aiden asleep on the couch.
"And who is this?" he asked sternly.
"His name rhymes with none of your business." I took his arm and led him into the kitchen before he could wake Aiden up.
When we reached the kitchen, I let go of his arm and he found a seat. The room was filled with silence for a minute or so. I didn't feel like breaking the silence, and God only knows what was going through my father's head. I watched as he stared off into space, deep in thought.
I got tired of waiting for him. "Uh...why are you here?"
He turned to look at me, anger swirling in his eyes. "Where's your mother?" he asked me for the second time already.
I rolled my eyes. "I already answered that question. She's not here. You wasted your time."
"I want to talk to her," he said, sounding agitated.
I shrugged.
"That's too bad, she really isn't here."
"I heard she's getting married. Is that true?" His voice was soft, but if anything it just emphasized his anger.
I nodded.
He slammed his fist against the table so suddenly that it made me jump. His jaw was clenched, and I saw his veins bulge out from his neck. I was genuinely afraid for what he might do if he got any angrier.
Nevertheless, I shushed him. "There are people sleeping! Do you really want to wake Brittany up past midnight?"
That did nothing to lessen his anger, but he obviously got the message. "How could she move on so quickly? And to that asshole Robert?" he growled.
"How dare you cheat on my mother?" I growled back, losing my temper. "How dare you not give a shit about your own family? Not only did you break mom's heart, but you broke Brittany's too! You haven't exactly been a great father since the divorce, not that you were one before. You didn't even attempt to fight for us, not even for shared custody! I guess two kids would put a damper on the bachelor life, huh?"
"I-"
I held up my hand. "Don't interrupt me. You never even bothered to visit us either, none of us have seen or heard from you in months! I know you don't care, but don't you dare come waltzing back into our lives now acting like you haven't been a dick lately. Either you want to be in our lives, or you don't- make your choice! Honestly, I wouldn't mind having to see your face again, you've caused us enough pain."
I paused. "And Robert will be ten times the man you ever could be." By the time I finished, my chest was heaving in and out. I had to take several deep breaths in order to calm down.
When I looked at my father, I stopped. All traces of anger were gone from his face, and he looked like someone just punched him in the gut.
He sighed and rubbed his face, as if it would lessen his drunkenness. After a long silence, all he had to say was "I'm sorry."
That was all it took to make my anger disappear. Even though one simple sorry was not enough to erase the pain he caused, I could tell it was sincere.
"You're right. I haven't been the greatest father, or person for that matter. I've done a lot of things that I regret, and I really don't deserve your forgiveness. I know I can never get your mother back, I've hurt her too much and that bridge has been burned. But please," his voice became wobbly, as if he was holding back tears, "I can't live with myself knowing that my own children hate me. You don't have to forgive me right now, but please give me a chance to make it right." Silent tears started to stream down his face as he spoke, and my mouth dropped open slightly in surprise.
I had so many conflicting feelings when I thought about the man in front of me. On one hand, he was a terrible person for cheating on my mother multiple times and breaking up our families. He abandoned us with hardly a second look after the divorce, making us feel unwanted. On the other hand, he was still my father. He was still the man that took care of us and helped provide for us. For sixteen years, he was a pretty decent father, and a couple mistakes can't undo all of that. Plus, the whole situation did help me grow as a person, so there's that.
"Tracey?" He asked softly, breaking my train of thought.
I let out a breath of air, composing myself.
"This not me offering you my forgiveness. This is me offering you a second, or rather third chance. One that you may not even deserve. This is your chance to do some right to balance out your wrongs. This is a chance to be a better father to us, especially Brittany. She's still young, and she deserves a father figure in her life. A good one. So be that."
He let out what sounded like a cry of relief. "Oh thank you Tracey, you won't regret this." He walked over as straight as he could and wrapped his arms around me.
Not knowing exactly how to react, I patted him on the back twice.
"Babe, what's going on?"
I gently pushed my father away and turned to see Aiden standing by the entrance of the kitchen, rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes.
"Uh... nothing." I turned to my father. "Please go."
He nodded and made his way to the door, Aiden moving out of the way when he passed him.
"Wait!" I called as he put his hand on the doorknob. He turned to look at me, a puzzled expression on his face.
"Baby, can you please drive my father home? I'm sure even in his state, he can remember his address." I felt like an idiot, I almost allowed my father to drive home drunk!
Aiden nodded, coming over to me and wrapping me into a warm hug, kissing me on the cheek. "When I come back, we can talk if you want to."
"Okay."
Aiden and my father walked out of the house, and I watched them get into Aiden's car and drive off. When they were gone, I closed the door, sat down, and leaned against it. Propping my elbows on my knees, I put my head in my hands and let the tears I had been holding in stream down my face.

There's one more chapter left! WOO!
I just decided that I'll be skipping the wedding. I was going to include it in this chapter but so many other things happened that it felt like I would be packing it in. It also doesn't fit well with the last chapter. Plus, it's not really important to the plot.
Before I upload the last chapter, I'm going to be heavily updating the first half of the story. I started this in my freshman year, and my writing was not what it is now, ha. I know it might not make sense to start editing before I've finished the story, but when I upload that last chapter, I want the satisfaction of it being completely done. I'll try to edit as quickly as possible!
Other than that, leave your thoughts!
Until next time!
*Song for this chapter is Damage by Chris Brown because it finally sinks in for Tracey's father how much damage he caused for his family!
