33: Drama Bombs
"CANNON BALLLLLLLL!" Aiden screamed as he ran and jumped into the deep side of the pool. I chuckled as he generated a huge splash, soaking Aisha thoroughly. She let out a high pitched squeal and narrowed her eyes in Aiden's direction. Getting up, she muttered to herself angrily as she looked for a towel to dry herself off with. Aisha is one of those prom queens that goes near the water but refuses to get wet. I'm honestly still a little surprised that someone as free spirited as David is dating someone as uptight and materialistic as her but hey, he deserves to be happy too.
Aiden swam over to the end of the pool I was sitting at and resurfaced. "Come in beautiful, the water is nice," he called, winking at me. The hazel flecks in his eyes were twinkling, and his perfect smile was bright. I really don't know what I did to deserve a boyfriend so amazing, but I'm not going to question the universe's decisions. You know, just in case it decides to come to its senses.
I giggled. "There's no way you can convince me to get into that pool." Now, in reality, I would really love to go for a swim. It's super hot out and a cool, refreshing dip in the pool would be perfection. I just know that this is something cheesy couples do for fun. One person is enjoying the water while the other sits on the sideline, and then they get thrown in when they refuse to get in willingly. It's what happens in all the cliche books and movies, am I right?
I watched as he pulled himself out of the water. He walked over to me with a devilish smirk on his face, the pool water glistening as it rolled down his defined chest. I stared at him appreciatively as he made his way over. He took my book gingerly between his fingers and placed it on the floor next to my chair.
I made a quick downwards glance at the floor to make sure he didn't get my book too wet. Page 72, I made a mental note to myself. Got to remember that for later.
"Babe, what are you doing?" I asked slowly, feigning innocence.
Aiden continued to give me his signature smirk as he swept me into his arms bridal style and carried me towards the pool. I tried to act like I didn't want to be anywhere near the refreshing body of water by flailing around in his arms, but he and I knew this is what I really wanted. Partly because I'm lazy, and partly because I loved when he carried me places. Wait, are those both technically the same reason?
Ah, who cares.
Before I knew it, my body was flying into the pool. I shrieked when my body hit the water, the cold temperature shocking my system. I sank to the bottom of the pool and stayed there for a few moments as my body became acclimated to the temperature, then swam back up. When I resurfaced, Aiden was in the pool next to me, laughing. I started laughing as well, splashing him. He pulled me into his rock hard body and lowered his cold, wet lips to mine. I wrapped my legs around his waist (thank God for buoyancy) and deepened the kiss, reveling in the moment.
"Come on guys, get a room!" Trey yelled from his chair. He wrapped his arms around Bianca's protruding belly lovingly and kissed her cheek. Bianca's caramel skin was basically glowing, and she looked happy as ever.
I laughed and pulled away from Aiden, swimming to the edge of the pool and pulling myself out. I heard splashing and I knew Aiden was following suit.
"Oh God guys, I'm pretty sure he was just joking," Cameron exclaimed in mock horror.
I turned to Cameron smirking, and gave him a playful wink. "Oh, grow up!"
As I dried myself back off, because I really wanted to finish my book, I looked around the backyard of David's (well, his parents') vacation home. The past months have been a time of healing and growth for our little group. Aiden and I quickly got back on the right track after our little holiday mishap, and now our relationship shows no signs of ending anytime soon. David's relationship with Aisha is admittedly kind of cute, though I will still never understand how the pair ended up together. Despite my misgivings about their future together, I am happy for them because he deserves to have what I have with Aiden.
Though the animosity towards Cameron ended a long time ago, he finally opened up to someone other than me. The rest of the group was really accepting, and we all apologized to each other for acting like hormonal psychopaths during the Fall. Since then, Cameron has been working on getting over his abandonment issues, and we've been helping him. He never has to worry about us leaving him though. We're all the annoying kind of friends that never leaves each other alone.
And then there was Tremaine and Bianca. As I looked at her baby bump, I couldn't feel anything less than proud of the both of them. Trey has been extremely supportive, and I know he isn't going to leave her to handle this alone. He was raised better than that. Plus, he really loves her. Bianca has been handling her pregnancy really well, always researching and reading so she can be the best mother she can possibly be. They both told their parents about what happened, and though they were initially disappointed, I know they are proud of how responsible their children are becoming.
I picked up my book and laid back down on my chair, opening to page 72. Aiden squeezed his way into the chair next to me, and I rolled my eyes as I tried to accommodate him. We ended up with our limbs delicately intertwined, and me comfortably snuggled into his warm chest. I started reading my book as Aiden stroked my hair lazily. That combined with the gentle rising and falling of his chest lulled me to sleep.
-
I woke up to the sound of my stomach rumbling. Jumping up because of my sudden hunger pain, I accidentally banged my head against something solid. I looked up to see what I hit and I gasped when I saw Aiden rubbing his jaw. I was snuggled into his body just like when I fell asleep, but now we were in a bed.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry baby, are you okay?" I cried out softly.
He chuckled, looking down at me with a smile. "It's okay sweetheart, how was your nap?"
"It was refreshing actually. How long was I out?"
"About five hours."
"What! So I missed the barbeque?" My stomach growled again in protest.
"Yes ma'am," he laughed. "Don't worry though, there's plenty of food left. Want anything?"
I nodded, sitting up. "I'll just go get something from-"
"Don't worry about it," Aiden said, cutting me off. "I'll go get you something really quick." He kissed me on the cheek and got off the bed. I felt his muscles rippling with movement, and I almost pulled him back into the bed with me. Curse my teenage hormones!
When Aiden was gone, somebody knocked on the slightly opened door. Without waiting for me to her to come in, Bianca made her way inside, waddling to the bed. I smiled and rolled my eyes. I should've known it was her. She's one of the two people that would barge into my room uninvited.
"Good morning sunshine," she cheerfully mocked.
"Oh, lay off," I said through a chuckle.
"I wonder what's got you so tired... a lot of late nights?" she suggested cheekily.
Under normal circumstances, I would've pushed my annoying best friend off of the bed and we would've had a rough playfight. These are not normal circumstances, however. I can't do anything that would harm the little life growing inside of her.
"So why are you really here? I know you would love to hear about my sex life, but I have a feeling you have more pressing matters you would like to address."
The smile dropped off of Bianca's face immediately. She brushed one of her curls out of her face and looked down at her belly, rubbing it slowly.
I scooted closer to her. "Hey, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings-"
"Do you think I'm being punished?" she asked so quietly, I almost missed it.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "Being punished how?"
"Do you think all of this," she gestured to her growing stomach, "is because I've been such an uncareful slut?"
It felt like my eyes were bulging out of my head. How could Bianca say such a thing? Sure, teenage pregnancy is highly frowned upon in society, but you don't have to be a 'slut' to get pregnant. Any kind of person can get pregnant. "I hardly think that having sex with one person- your boyfriend- qualifies as being a slu-"
"Trey isn't the only person I've had sex with," she interrupted sternly. I'm kind of getting tired of being interrupted, but my best friend just dropped a bomb, so now isn't the time to point that out.
"Excuse me?"
She slowly looked up at me, her hazel eyes big and sad. She looked like she was scared to say whatever it is she wanted to tell me. What could she possibly be scared of?
"Before Trey and I finally started dating, I was with Manny."
"Um, who the hell is Manny?" I asked hotly.
"I met him when I was fifteen. He's from a rougher neighborhood than ours, but somehow we crossed paths. He was in a gang and he was three years older than me, but I was going through my rebellious phase back then, so he was perfect. I lost my virginity to him. Our relationship wasn't perfect, but I was in love with him. We were together for over a year before we ended things, but we continued to have sex until Trey and I got together." She exhaled.
My jaw went slack and dropped open. How did I not know all of this about my best friend? I tell Bianca everything, I always have. Why didn't she tell me that she was dating an older guy for over a year? And that she had sex? Three years ago at that! After hearing everything I just heard, it was hard to believe that the girl sitting next to me is the Bianca I've known. I never thought she would hide something this big from me.
"Tracey?" she asked shakily, breaking me out of my trance.
I cleared my throat. How do I respond to this? "Bianca, having sex with two guys does not make you a slut. Enjoying sex does not make you a slut either. Sure, you've made some mistakes, but who hasn't? Your mistakes have just led you down a different path. God isn't punishing you for anything. A new life is a blessing, whether it happens accidentally or not. You just have to make the best of your situation."
Tears were streaming down Bianca's face as she gave me a tight hug. "Thank you," she said simply. She looked as if a giant weight has been lifted off of her shoulders.
"Of course." I'm still mad that she kept something this big from me, but now wasn't the time to chew her out for being a bad friend. I had to step up and be a bigger person so I could make sure that my friend feels better about her situation.
"Beautifulll, I got you some foo- Whoah." Aiden walked in with a plate of food in his hands, but stopped short when Bianca and I broke our hug and he saw her tear streaked face.
He started to back up. "I can come back at a better time..."
"No, no," Bianca said, standing up slowly, "I was just leaving anyway." She waddled past Aiden and made her way out of the room.
"Do I want to know what that was about?" he asked as he made his way to the bed. His face was painted with curiosity.
I shrugged nonchalantly. "Just girl stuff."
He squinted at me suspiciously and then smiled, so I knew he wasn't going to question me any further. "You still hungry?"
I gave him a smirk of my own. "Yeah, but not for food," I finished with a wink. What can I say? I'm a hormonal teenager with a hot boyfriend. Sue me.
Aiden chuckled before setting the plate of food down on the side table. Climbing on top of me, he held himself up with his arms before he lowered his lips to mine. I wrapped my arms around his neck and deepened the kiss. I love this feeling, kissing him. Our lips mold together perfectly. Kissing him feels like getting the last slice of pizza, or the last day of school. Kissing hm felt like pure happiness.
He broke the kiss and started trailing kisses down my neck to my collarbone. I let out a quiet moan before I reached out and lifted his shirt over his head. Aiden reached behind my back and undid the top of the bikini I was wearing from earlier. He threw the article of clothing across the room hastily before reaching down and closing his mouth around my bud and sucking gently. I let out a cry of pleasure that was mixed with the noise of...my phone ringing?
I was ready to ignore my phone, but Aiden had other plans. He released my bud from his mouth and picked up my phone, handing it to me. I rolled my eyes and looked at the caller ID. It was my mom.
I picked up the phone. "Yes?" I said, slightly irritated that she just ruined what was about to happen.
"I'm sorry to interrupt your little vacation but you are my daughter so I thought you should be the first to know the good news!" she half-yelled out of excitement.
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. What could that possibly mean? "What good news?" I asked tentatively.
"I'm getting married!"

So, it's been three months... I ran into a severe case of writer's block. I had to rewrite the chapter from scratch because the way it was going before left me at a dead end.
The book is almost over, but it wouldn't be Missed Calls if it ended with no drama!
With that being said, this chapter was a little boring, but oh well. I did the best I could to spice it up.
Leave comments, questions, concerns, anything! And vote!
Until next time!

*Song for this chapter is Let's Get Married by Jagged Edge. This is another one of my weird humor things lol. Plus, it's a super amazing throwback. Tracey's mom is getting married! How do we feel about that?
