The soft jazz music made the setting calm and could hear some people talking about various topics while some were having an event on who can drink more alcohol.

Suhan took a small sip of the drink which she frowned a bit because she haven't touched any alcohol in ages so the taste was somehow too strong for her. Taemu noticed the subtle change in her expression and smiled before ordering a dessert for Suhan.

"Kang Taemu-ssi, how is your business doing?"

Suhan didn't know what to talk about aside from business because both of them were engaged in the business world where they mainly talk about deals, losses, profits, a new strategy, and so on. Plus, they don't know each other's hobbies or know each other well aside from the small meetings, dinner, and unexpected encounters.

"It's going pretty smooth aside from losing the deal with the Boston company"

Suhan thanked him for the small dessert before putting away the alcohol and ordering another wine which was lower in alcohol quantity while eating the small dessert.

"That's bad to hear but I'm sure you'll get another deal very soon" Suhan meant it and Taemu smiled at her with a nod.

The whole atmosphere is calm and comfortable between the two of them with no hint of awkwardness but rather harmonious as if they have known each other for ages and know what they are doing or thinking without a conversation. Any passers-by who didn't know them would think that they are a couple.

While eating the cake, Suhan abruptly remembered Taehyun who loved eating cakes and would do anything to eat them but Taemu worried that he will get cavities so he doesn't allow him to eat something that sweet.

The woman decided to build up a conversation and get to know each other better because she can feel the vibe that Taemu isn't a bad person. He may not be expressive but he is caring and a loving father because, raising a son while trying to maintain his business and boost the company at the same time building up a bond with his son isn't easy.

Based on how close the father-son duo is, Suhan can tell that Taemu did his best to be there for his son and at the same time manage his company. To look after a company and take care of a toddler isn't an easy job at all because the weight of the responsibilities on his shoulder is so heavy yet he handled it well.

"Kang Taemu-ssi, this may sound odd but I admire and respect you a lot" The Lee girl didn't hide her appreciation for him at all and spoke it to the guy who suddenly became speechless because of the sudden confession.

He slightly cleared his throat and took a sip of the drink and smiled "What made Ceo Lee think that?"

Suhan could feel that the alcohol was slowly starting to take over her because her cheeks were slightly heated up. She has a low alcohol tolerance, but thanks to it she felt confident enough to speak up about the truth

"Being a leader is already difficult, the jobs and the burdens are heavy enough but on top of that, you manage to take care of your son so well despite being a single father. You brought Taehyun up so well, Kang Taemu-ssi. He is such a bright and humble kid, one would be able to tell that he was brought up with care and guidance, with good moral education and discipline. As someone busy as you are with your job, Taehyun is growing well. He will definitely reach the top one day and I promise.
You are an incredible father and you are doing a good job Kang Taemu-ssi"

Suhan ended her long speech with a hick-up but she quickly apologized and took a sip of the drink and peered at the man who was quiet with an unreadable expression on his face.

Taemu felt weird and strange. Ever since he divorced Shin Hari and was given custody of Taehyun, he had a hard time adjusting to the abrupt change in his daily life. He would wake up in the middle of the night to make the milk bottle for Taehyun who would cry out a night because of hunger. He would take his son to get his monthly injection shots and help him calm down after crying for so long. When Taehyun was sick and woke up crying he would sometimes cry along because he didn't know what to do and was worried about his son.

He was new to parenting and Kang DaGoo couldn't do much, they didn't want to hire a babysitter either so they did their best. From unhappy memories to happy memories. When Taehyun first learned to talk and called him "Papa" to his first walk, his first bath, and his first time going out with his dad alone. From driving the young 3-year-old to his daycare for the first time to his first day in elementary.

Looking back at it, 7 years went in a blink, and throughout the year he never heard such a compliment at all that touched him to the core. He has heard countless compliments whether they meant it or not but suddenly everything didn't mean anything in front of the words " You are an incredible dad".

Suhan saw the emotions slowly replacing the blank face on Taemu's and couldn't understand what the man was feeling but she kept calm.

Taemu finally broke off from his thoughts and placed one of the ice cubes on his drink and chuckled "You know what Lee Suhan-ssi, ever since I took Taehyun I did my best but I still think I lack in some aspects but the little lad's smile and the cute baby voice makes me feel like the happiest day in the entire universe. He is so precious to me and means a lot to me. I don't know why but Taehyun seems like he is growing up a lot, mature and mentally. He doesn't throw tantrums around like kids of his age do and demands me more toys but he doesn't"

Taemu paused for a while and continued "Taehyun understands me and my work, he would stay up late and wait for me, give me small pats or hugs when I am tired, and never ask me why he doesn't have a mom. I may not be the best dad but I will go to any length for my son"

The way his words, and his expression when talking about his son clearly show how much he loves and adores his son. A certain word caught Suhan's attention and thought for a while about whether to ask it or not but her mind was a bit cloudy because of the alcohol and so she decided to ask

"Kang Taemu-ssi, it's okay if you don't wanna share but I'm genuinely curious about Taehyn's mom. I've heard a lot about you and Madam Shin while I was still working with my dad and he often told me about her too. . . . Everyone knew that you two were such a cute couple and how far you went to court her. . ."

Taemu smiled but it wasn't a smile of happiness but either a smile of regret and yet bittersweet memories

"Everybody says that. . . But it's not like that at all Suhan-ssi. Everything takes time but I rushed too much and r꯭u꯭in꯭e꯭d e꯭v꯭e꯭r꯭y꯭th꯭in꯭g that was meant to be beautiful"
